ISHIMORI’S SPACE ODDITY: You may freak-out that manga master Shotaro Ishimori illustrated a one-shot about a star man who fell to Earth, because it blows my mind! Here’s the title splash page for a 14-page story that in the February, 1977 issue of “FM Recopal” (Shogakukan Publishing). Even more incredible, gender-bending moonage daydream is called, “David Bowie: Hermaphrodite Lifeform From Another Cosmic Dimension” (!). Appearing in the largely forgotten manga are Mick Jagger and his then-wife, Bianca… Major Tom, indeed.

Some years ago I bought a dojinshi called “Orange” by Tatsuyuki Tanaka (Cannabis Works). He self published it in 1983. He was 18 years old.
