Then it turns into 24 hours, and Rei reacts as any emotionally suppressed assassin would.

An au where Kazuki and Rei do leave the organization, go to the seaside, open a diner, live together. Just not without Miri.

Miri has left with her mother ten years ago and they haven't seen her since. They had made sure she and Misaki were safe, they had killed Ogino and made sure the organization didn't have them in mind, and then they were out of the picture like they were never in it.

Rei had accepted it. Kazuki hadn't.
