because we go from episodes 115-117 where she’s so worried for lizzies safety leaves chip and gillion in the BLACK SEA and teleports halfway across the world, just to be met with the reality that lizzie, and all of her crew, are capable enough of looking out for themselves. and then, she nearly spirals the same way realizing that oh god, she just left her best friends in the black sea. she and lizzie have a long talk about this at avas grave i heavily recommend everyone watches it a million times. anyway the important thing is that lizzie says that jays line of thinking (spiraling from the fear that she left her friends alone, and doesn’t trust that they’ll be okay) is the exact line of thinking that brought her away from them in the first place.

and then everything goes to shit, despite of jay being there and it destroys jay. and thats a whole other thing i can’t wait to unpack because jay’s character has definitely taken more of a supportive role in the undersea arc, meaning we haven’t adressed pretty much any of what she went through yet, and im terrified for when we do

FUCKKK im getting sidetracked but ok. my point is. where jay is now compared to 10 episodes ago is crazy and we see that especially in both her conversation with aurora, and her response when chip lies to her about the champion of death stuff.

because she could be terrified by gillion entering the trials alone and the fact that chip is lying to her face could be driving her CRAZY and maybe it is but after everything thats happened she is making the active choice to trust her friends, and trust that they’re capable, and trust that they’re doing what they think is best (remember when chip said “did you do what you think is best? then you did everything you could” or something like that its literally her taking that, and lizzies advice to heart— and if you rewatch the newer episodes you will see this development laid out SO SO clearly plain as day and its crazy nobodys really talked about it GUYS ITS RIGHT THEREEEE LOOK LOOK LOOKHWSHDHDHFH
