what are some tips & tricks that you would suggest to someone wanting to learn how to make coloring psds?

i think a good place to start is downloading some free coloring psds from deviantart (there's a bunch there), and opening the files on photoshop, checking and unchecking the effects, seeing with each one does, moving them around, etc. that way you can get a feel of what each effect can do and how other creators apply them to their pictures, because frankly, when you open photoshop there's SO many options and so much to do, it can get overwhelming. that's how i started, before i was confident enough just start winging it.

i'd say the effects i use the most are probably curves, to adjust the brightness/darkness of pictures, as well as the rgb to play around with the colors, and color balance. trying out different layer styles on different effects (esp gradient) can make some cool effects too, so keep that in mind. working with a good base makes all the difference (try not to choose pixelated/low quality images because that will fuck with the coloring too), and a good general idea is to try and adjust the coloring of your picture to a neutral tone (getting rid of yellows or blues) before you start trying to apply any effects on it (a good way to measure i was taught is always to look at the whites in the pictures and see if they're too yellow or too blue, and adjust the color values from there until it looks truly white, so the rest of the picture should be good too), but yeah, neutralize first, then mess around, if you want your coloring psd to work in more than one picture.

I'm currently working on two commissions right now, which should be finished by the end of the week, after that, I have 6 more forms in the queue. It's hard to give you an exact time frame, because every commission takes a different time to finish. Sometimes I can finish 2 in one week, sometimes not, but I hopefully that should give you an idea.

Hii! Thank you <33 Honestly, it's a lot of trial and error with these things (the mirror one got me ripping my hair out for a minute but my brain says I Must Execute The Vision and won't let me ragequit X_X), I think any tutorial on youtube about animation/how to use the timeline for animation (here's a short but I'm sure there's full length tutorials out there too) will be a thousand times better than me because I suuuuck at tutorials, I want to send my teachers at uni a whole fruit basket for how eloquent and clear they were with their tutorials. It's a talent, really.

I might attempt it sometime, but I'm not sure if it'll be any good. Now, if you're really, really clever, you'll use After Effects to set the thing up, export it, then gif it, instead of choosing to suffer like me using only Photoshop 90% of the time, alas.
