Man, I'm gonna be screaming over Peeled Jax for a long time. Like, Caine is a diabolical bastard for all of the little nightmare torture sequences he inflicted on everyone during that scene (Ragatha's is right there next to this one in terms of Most Emotionally Devastating to me), but like... Okay actually lemme just point out a few particular things speed-round style:

Jax's tormenters starting off as featureless figures and morphing into his closest friends. (makes me think abt that line he says in ep 5 abt how Ragatha being so nice "feels like they're trying to take advantage of you..." which from day one I found a sus thing for him to say unprompted like GIRL WHO HURT YOU)

The close-up shot of him cowering with an arm shielding his face, and he's trembling. Not fighting back, not even so much as a defiant look at his attackers, just bracing himself for impact. Prey animal instincts.

The scrambling to pitifully cover his body up with the shredded bits of his peeled-off skin while the figures leer over him and laugh? Just... God. Caine honey you are sooo lucky that you're dead rn bc ooooh buddy when I catch you...!! 😤🥊

A lot of more qualified ppl have already pointed out how this scene of his skin being forcibly peeled off to reveal a more vulnerable, "yolky" inside can be added to the Closeted Egg Transwoman Jax evidence pile, and if I may, I also want to add ☝🤓: The only figures who do the actual skin-peeling are the ones resembling Pomni and Ribbit. His female friends. "Kaufmo" is just watching from the sidelines (you can see it better in Kevin Temmer's video showcasing the scenes he worked on).

Fear that her closest female friends Know What She Is™ but will never accept her as one of their own. Fear that they'll expose her to the others and that everyone who knows will use that to harm her further.
