A personal headcanon I have for Demetri is that he has symptoms of PTSD because of what happened with hawk and potentially the karate war as well. One example of this is when hawk saves Demetri from almost getting his arm broken again he immediately backs away from hawk almost like he’s having a flashback. At least that’s how I interpreted that scene. The second example is when hawk and him are fighting for the flag in the forest which leads to Demetri having hawks arm in a similar hold and saying “how do you like it huh” this shows the audience that he’s not over what happened no matter how much he acts like he is. The last example is how tired he is in Barcelona, now could this be because of everything else that’s going on with the tournament and outside of it yes that’s obvious but I also think it’s because he’s having nightmares and not sleeping well.
