maria rambeau choosing to never tell her daughter everything that carol really was to her because monica looks so hurt and angry any time she’s reminded of carol (and how she never came back) that she decides telling the truth is not worth causing her daughter any more pain

monica rambeau, many years later, seeing valkyrie flirt with carol and, despite knowing they are a thing, feeling a deep, uncomfortable sensation in the pit of her stomach that feels a little too much like hate

monica immediately putting herself on a timeout because she can’t believe she’s been secretly homophobic this whole time

monica thinking way too much about it and realizing that the way carol acts around valkyrie feels awfully familiar and, despite her previous experience with it, deciding to use the skrull memory device to figure out why

monica seeing her childhood memories and noticing things that flew over her head back then because she was either too young to understand or she rationalized them (like carol sleeping in her mom’s room when she stayed over because she did it so often that sleeping on the couch was simply not an option)

monica barging into carol’s room at three in the morning yelling “you were in love with my mom?!?!” (and also being very relieved that she’s not secretly homophobic, but carol-flirting-with-someone-who’s-not-her-mom-phobic instead)

carol, who was getting a good night’s sleep for once in her life, having to face all the things she’s repressed for decades because monica is asking and the one thing she promised herself she would never do is lie to her about maria (not after she’s fought so much to remember her. not after she lost her for good before they could make memories that weren’t tainted by guilt and regret)

Nick Fury is such a feminist icon to me, he’s one of the longest running characters in the mcu and has never once said anything bad about women. He worked as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D in the 80s-90s, met a crazy space soldier lady who turned out to be one of the only female pilots in the Air Force and never once doubted her capabilities for a second, powers or not. He trusted her with the fate of the world. He puts his trust into Maria to fly a ship that could crash and kill them both AND she goes on to be the founder of S.W.O.R.D. He recruited Natasha and put her as the lead on several missions as one of his best spies and he made Maria Hill deputy commander of S.H.I.E.L.D despite her getting backlash from the male agents, she was always his right hand woman. Then he makes Monica one of the leading scientists at S.A.B.E.R and trusts that this new team of badass women can save the planet yet again. Fury has never seen a woman and been like “she can’t do that she’s a GIRL” AND he’s a cat dad, what an icon.

One of my favorite things Marvel has accidentally done is give us a super cool deadbeat dad in the form of Carol Danvers.

Like, this woman was literally raising a child with another woman, turned into a superhero, got kidnapped, came back and then dipped again for like 30yrs.

She had a whole ass family and literally got sidetracked into helping folks from another planet find a new home.

Then her wife dies.

Their daughter? Blipped. She marries a dude for technical reasons while also dating Valkyrie

This characters has so many layers and it pisses me off that they don't use her more.
