biggest example I can think of is the absolutely nastiest candy to ever plague the earth, reeses, of which I continuously receive ad after ad on Spotify (which only cements the idea of it being gross in my mind since I'm constantly being reminded of how fucking awful the candy is and we know reputation cements thought/behavior)

ive talked about this exact thing online and out loud before. ive never once searched the brand or bought any peanut+chocolate product. ive been told the reason is to get you to remember the brand or some subliminal shit but...

why, if my data is so important it must be sold everywhere and my feed is "so personalized it's creepy", can I not get ads for things I actually take interest in? that I would be wayyyy more likely to buy?

my pfp is a show made to sell toys. clearly, there are ads that genuinely draw me in. I've spent literal hundreds and hundreds on Gorillaz related purchases, be it concerts, cds, or merch. I would have been excited to have hot topic tell me to come in for the exclusive stickers they were giving out with the mountain shirts. but i didnt know. I missed out on something I would have spent ~$25 because it wasn't advertised to me.

ppl on here always joke about the stupid or crazy uncatered ads but that's genuinely how I feel all the time. I want to spend money on things that I like. It makes me happy to eat, wear, and live with things I enjoy. can they at least do something with all that stolen online information they wanted so so badly?
