Gojo x Reader • Post Sukuna fight - Spoilers! • Husband Satoru • Angst to Comfort • Mentions of body insecurities • Mentions of Injury • Gojo is a cutie pie
Satoru cannot bare to look at himself. He avoids mirrors, strays far from the windows lest he catch his reflection. But even without looking he can tell his body isn't what it used to be.
Arms and torso littered in scars, every single place Sukuna tried to end him. His muscles have gone soft, his form ruined from the weeks of laying down that it took for him to recover. Then there's that large, violent scar against his midriff, the place where he should have died- he had died.
And yet he had been bought back to life anyway.
You look at him like he's a miracle. The love in your eyes has not faltered. And yet he feels like he no longer deserves you. Like he's letting you down somehow by looking this way. Satoru knows its wrong but his thoughts always spiral into nonsense now. He was never insecure before.
And you've noticed. The way your husband only wears big hoodies now, even when it's warm. He doesn't like to go outside. His brain was so fried from the effort of keeping him alive during the battle with Sukuna that now his behaviour is different too. Long pauses in the middle of conversations, standing still in the middle of different rooms until he remembers what he was doing, blank stares. It hurts to see him like this. And yet it's nothing short of a miracle that he can even walk.
Satoru avoids touch. Avoids being seen. He used to be the centre of attention and now he shrinks away from even you. It's hurting you both.
You know this cannot carry on. So you confront him one evening, as you both settle down for bed. You can tell he isn't sleeping, it always takes him a while.
"Do you want to talk about it?"
Satoru hums in response, turning to his side to look at you curiously. He was too busy in his own mind to notice you're still awake. The question catches him off guard.
"You can't sleep, right? Let's talk about it..." You try again, looking into those big blue eyes. These days, he only takes his blindfold off at night. Only in pitch darkness. Otherwise the headaches become unbearable.
"I'm okay, had too much sugar. You should go to sleep." He attempts to brush it off, of course he does. His hand lifts to brush over your hair, in a way that he knows relaxes you, trying to lull you to sleep.
Though, the way his smile doesn't reach his eyes has you on high alert.
"Satoru..." You breathe out his name, both a desperate plea and a line in the sand. You're not letting this go. His hand stops its movements on your hair, and you catch the way he withdraws into himself.
"Hah, sweets, don't sound so sad... please?" He tries again, though he knows its not so simple. Nothing is simple anymore.
You reach out carefully, giving him a chance to pull away. Then, your hand tugs at the sleeve of his pyjamas in a silent ask.
"Aren't you warm? It's boiling in here, love"
"Ah, nope, perfect temperature..."
"Satoru-"
"Okay, okay, maybe I'm a little warm."
Yet he makes no move to change it, to at least put on a short sleeved shirt. You tug at his sleeve again, and he chuckles this time. Until the words leave your mouth.
"Can I see?" You look up at him with so much love. And how can he refuse you anything when you give him those eyes? But this is different, this is something he may not be able to do, even for you.
"Sweets..." He breathes out, and you can hear the refusal coming so you quickly cut him off.
"Just the forearm, okay? I won't ask you for more"
He swallows. Hard. His heart is racing and... the strongest feels terrified. Logic wars with anxiety, his mind is a mess. But it's just a forearm. And maybe you'll be so disgusted you'll pull the sleeve right back down. Maybe it'll be for the best. But he can't watch.
So Satoru closes his eyes and nods, whispering a little "okay".
He feels the way you pull up his sleeve, just to the elbow, no further. He tenses for a moment, then shatters completely when he feels your lips on his skin.
White eyelashes flutter open in shock. He stares at you, wide eyed, his lips parted like he wants to protest. But there you are, kissing each and every mark on his skin, every bruise and cut. Feather light, soft. Your touch grazes his arm like something precious.
You look up when you're done, and give him a small smile. Satoru is utterly dumbfounded, completely speechless. So you talk instead.
"You're incredible, your body is incredible. Each one of these marks is proof of all the ways you survived, the ways your body and technique kept you alive. You came home, to me, and I don't think I've ever seem something so beautiful"
Satoru continues to stare, though it's something softer. He searches your expression, like he's trying to figure out if you're too tired to see correctly. After a moment, he just tugs you into his arms and crushes you against his chest.
It is the most physical contact you've had in weeks.
"Only you would find scars attractive" he whispers into your hair, nuzzling his nose to take as much of you in as possible.
"You're attractive" You whisper back, all while snaking your arms around his back and tugging him close.
Satoru focuses on the way your kisses felt on his skin during that brief moment, like a healing balm, like light and love and everything about you that he has missed. He listens to your breathing for a moment, holds you so tight that he's afraid he might crush you.
A long time passes. So long that he almost thinks you're asleep, but he can tell you're not. So he asks, carefully, still slightly afraid.
"Could you... do that to the other arm?"
Soon enough you're kissing him all over. Arms, shoulders, chest. You're peppering kisses all over his face, missing no marks. You're proving a point, showing your gratitude to both him and the universe.
And you reach that jagged, angry line on his midriff- where he was cut in half. Satoru's smile drops as he notices the way you tense up, and he almost tells you its okay, that you can stop. But you kiss him there anyway. And your lips linger.
Things will be okay. Because he's here. He's home.

He waits for you to knock on his door during quiet mornings, still keeps buying your favourite tea and cereal just in case. Or after a long day of work, when he accidentally makes two portions of dinner again.
Your shelf in the bathroom is free. Your side of the closet is cleaned out. The bookshelf in the lounge sits half empty. Space waiting to be filled by you, missing your presence.
He follows the same routines. He wouldn't be able to stop even if he wanted to.
The local bakery owner still asks about you. Satoru answers her honestly, smiling. He tells her all about how well you're doing, what a star you are, how your career is thriving.
Thriving, in a different country.
Perhaps that was the worst part of your breakup. If it had ended messly, then maybe he could have found reasons to move on. Filled the empty space with bad memories. Could have told himself its for the best.
But there are no bad memories with you. All he remembers is your bright smile, the way your laughter always made his heart race. He remembers the quiet nights, the days his face would hurt from smiling, how beautiful you looked doing absolutely nothing and how fortunate he felt.
How when you left, you took his heart too. How his love followed you, leaving him empty. But only temporarily. Because Satoru still believed you would come back.
He gets approached by women, of course he does. But his heart already belongs to you and so he never leads them on. Sometimes he says he has a girlfriend. He's staying loyal you, even if he's no longer yours.
Social media is the worst part. If he was smart, he would avoid it, put the phone away. But some masochistic, self loathing part of him always lingers on there, waiting for you to post.
You look happy. Without him. It kills him every time.
The texts on his phone sit unsent:
"I miss you."
"I don't care about the distance."
"I need you back."
He's pathetic. Satoru never used to think before sending you a message. You used to know about every part of his day and now he barely gets to ask you how you're doing, thanks to the time zones.
He's pathetic. But he just wants you back.
He is still waiting for you to come home.
My brain just threw this out, thank you for reading my ramblings 🩵
College AU ♡ Slightly suggestive ♡ Both reader and Choso are toxic ♡ Naoya jumpscare ♡ I love pathetic men...
1.6k words ish~
Friday night is always party night at your college. Chaos illuminated by bright lights, filled with music loud enough to be heard down the block. The air is thick with the scent of alcohol and aftershave, vanilla perfume on punch. Its intoxicating.
You're looking for a head of brown hair in a sea of bodies, like a moth to a flame. You don't always come to these parties, but a certain invitation had drawn you in tonight. Though, currently it's looking more like an empty promise.
A month long situationship with Choso Kamo has left you more confused than you've ever been. The mysterious art major has been living up to his reputation, playing hot and cold with you. Drawing you in with his gorgeous dark energy, and pushing you away every time things start to look good. He's like a drug you can't seem to give up on. You don't even want to try.
The cherry on the top of this talking-stage disaster is the fact he decided to leave you on read tonight. After inviting you here. He had the audacity to ditch you.
Now, you find yourself alone in the middle of a huge blowout, looking gorgeous and furious.
Well, there are worse things to be. And if Choso won't make his mind up about you... there's many guys here who will.
You march over to the kitchen, hoping a drink would ease your indignation. A shot of tequila for a confidence boost, then another - because you intend on making bad decisions tonight.
As you're pouring the third, you hear a low whistle behind you. You turn slowly, finding none other than Naoya Zenin standing in the doorway. The very harbinger of bad decision making, shamelessness, and regrets - if the stories about him are true. Perfect.
"You should slow down..." He tells you with an obnoxious grin. His gaze lingers on your purple dress, the sinful way it hugs your curves. The dress you'd worn hoping to impress someone else tonight.
Nayoa's gaze sends shivers through your skin. You're not sure of they're the pleasant type.
"Hm~ already telling me what to do?" You grin mischievously, placing the shot down (for now). You lean back against the kitchen island, purposefully placing a hand on your waist to accentuate your hips.
"Are you into that?" He asks, something self satisfied flashing behind his eyes. Naoya is the type of guy that gets off on bossing women around, is probably having fun in college before he decides to settle down in some kind of "nuclear family".
You're enjoying playing with him, all while knowing people will gossip. You hope the rumour of you flirting with someone else tonight will reach your target. Choso isn't the only one who can play games.
So you get closer to Naoya, running a finger over his jawline.
"I think I like being the one in control" you tell him, glancing into his brown eyes. They're almost pretty... almost. Until they sharpen on you.
"A real shame." He murmurs, faintly amused. Still fighting for dominance.
"Why?"
"Because I think this could've worked out, you know?"
"It still can-" You're just about to suggest taking this conversation somewhere private, when someone pulls you away from Naoya- hard.
Your back collides with a wall of solid muscle, while a tattooed arm wraps around your midriff to keep you close. You know its Choso without looking at him.
"Are you flirting with my date, Naoya?" He grumbles out. There's something tense in the way he grips you, it makes some irrational part of your brain soft. You're glad Choso is holding you up because you're knees have already gone weak.
"Whoah" Naoya puts both his hands up, looking between the two of you with a hint of annoyance. "Didn't realise she was your girl."
"I'm not." You say
"She is." Choso corrects almost immediately after.
You turn your head up to glare at him, Choso seems to return the sentiment. As soon as your eyes meet, you have to hold back a grin. The anger swimming within his expression is palpable, his hand on your waist tightens as though he's barely holding up. Not enough to hurt but enough so you don't get any ideas about leaving.
Jackpot.
Neither of you hear Naoya leave, far too uninterested in this drama. The music around you pulses like a heartbeat of its own- or maybe yours has started racing so hard that it's drowning out all other sounds.
"What were you thinking?" Choso mutters after a few seconds.
"That I don't answer to you" You respond. Though you make no move to create distance between the two of you.
Choso frowns, completely unimpressed with this situation. But you can tell he's affected by the tightness in his jaw. Before he can say something stupid, you clarify it for him.
"You know- I should be asking you what you were thinking! You invited me here and then I sent you a text a whole half hour ago that I was here. You left me on read and I couldn't find you anywhere in this huge house and- hey! Put me down!"
Choso shifts you in his arms so that he can pick you up by your hips. Despite your protests, you wrap your legs around him to keep balanced. You only get a moment to study his utterly furious expression before you're moving.
"What are you doing-" You grip his shoulders, flushed furiously as people turn to stare. "Choso!"
But he isn't listening.
People turn to look at the two of you. A camera flashes from somewhere in the crowd- probably one of your friends. You hide your flustered face in the crooked of Choso's shoulder, distracting yourself from this scene he's causing by taking in his deep aftershave.
Theres a war in your mind. Between his delicious scent and annoying behaviour. His games and his looks. Choso is an addictive conundrum.
The music fades to a background hum as Choso closes a door somewhere. You finally look up, taking in your surroundings, he's taken you to a bedroom and you're pretty sure its not his own.
"If you think I'm gonna let you-" you start to argue as Choso sets you down.
"-Be my girlfriend" He blurts out.
You pause, utterly dumbfounded. There's a moment where you aren't sure you heard him correctly, but the intense gaze in his eyes tells you that you did. You swear tears are starting to form in his eyes the longer you don't answer.
"Please-"
"You have some nerve!"
"Y/n, please..." Choso reaches out for you, only for you to immediately step back. Your blood is a boiling, raging thing inside your body. A flush forms over your skin. If your heart was racing before then its currently about to explode.
"Where do you even get the audacity? After playing non-committal with me for a month- after constantly leaving me on read- you have the nerve to ask for that?!" You're shouting now, finding you no longer care about causing a scene. "Do you have any idea how that makes me feel?"
Choso winces. Physically winces. Because he knows you're right. He's cringing at his own actions. Of course, you have every right to be mad at him.
But he's not giving up either. So he gets down on his knees before you, looking up with his big eyes. The eyeliner around his eyes is smudging, and he looks wrecked. He looks utterly desperate.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry y/n I'm such an idiot."
"Choso-"
"I like you. I like you so much it makes me stupid. The guys fed me some crap about how if I was too desperate you'd get bored and I didn't know how to act so I kept pulling away."
"Cho..."
"Then you came here tonight, I swear I noticed you before you even texted. Damn it- you're so beautiful in that dress that I didn't know what to do and I hid-"
"You hid?!"
Choso flushes at that, looking away with sheer embarrassment. He's rambling, looking as though he's two seconds away from a breakdown and it does something funny to your heart. It's all you can do to let him continue.
You have to bite the inside of your cheeks to hide your smile.
"I've been hiding, all night." Choso nods, his messy hair bobbing with the movement. "But then I overheard you talking to Naoya and... damn it y/n... are you trying to kill me?"
You just stare at him for a while, purposefully making him nervous. He deserves it. For listening to his stupid friends' dating advice. For not being honest about his feelings. For hiding from you.
Outside, the muffled beat still sounds like a heartbeat. Cheers sound from somewhere. The party is alive. Oblivious to this previous moment, in a stranger's bedroom.
Choso only looks at you, you know he won't let you go without an answer.
You can't believe you thought this guy was mysterious. He's addictive, yes, but in the way sugar is. Sweet. Innocent, almost. It somehow makes you like him more.
"I'll beg you if I have to..." he breathes, and you can't help but chuckle.
Slowly, you lower your hands and capture his cheeks, leaning down till your noses brush.
"One more chance." You whisper, and his eyes widen like he's just won the lottery. "One more, I mean it Choso. If you ever listen to those dumbasses again, if you ever play with me-"
"I won't," he swears, "never again."
"Good..." you finally lean in, brushing your lips against his. He tastes like sweet liquor and sugar. So addictive it could be a sin.
His hands reach for your waist, tugging you down towards him.
"Mine" he groans against your lips.
This time, you don't fight him on it.

Qifrey is Such A Character because I'm like twenty chapters in to witch hat atelier and pretty much the only things he's done has been have whimsical little cottagecore picnics, be nice to children, and have category 9 domestic events with the whole adult man who lives in his attic. And somehow he does all of this whilst projecting an aura of horrible, tangible sadness. Mans is frolicking in meadows and giving the general impression of a haunted victorian orphan. He's cooking sweet potatoes and I fully expected him to tell the reader he was waterboarded as a child. He's entrancing.
Synopsis: Nerdjo x Popular Reader. You take Astronomy instead of Astrology....
Warnings: Suggestive, only 18+, no ageless blogs please. Nothing actually happens but there is suggestiveness. Alcohol and drinking involved. Not Proofread
2k ish words
You knew something was wrong the moment you entered the lecture hall, full of students who all had the same sort of vibe. Sweater vests, chunky glasses, typical nerd fashion. This class is brimming with students, and you had no idea so many people would take an interest in Astrology of all things. Especially so many guys.
You slide into the first empty seat you find, next to a guy who's entire energy feels reserved and intelligent. An earth sign, probably. His white hair looks like he'd just rolled out of bed, and he's wearing a large hoodie with a "Digimon" graphic printed on. You have no idea what a digimon is.
His impossibly blue eyes are trained on his notebook, already writing like a whirlwind. The lecture hasn't even started yet. You glance down at his notes, noticing the fact that he has titled the page as:
"Astronomy notes. Lecture 1."
Along with the date in neat handwriting. Of course, being the kind natured woman you are, you decide to inform him. You tap his shoulder, and he jolts slightly. Like he hadn't even noticed you there.
"Hey, I think you spelled that wrong" You point out.
"Huh?"
"It's Astrology"
The white haired stranger looks at you like you're speaking a foreign language. His crystal eyes trail on you in a way that almost offends you. He's at a loss for words.
When he finally opens his mouth, the sound of the door opening interrupts him and every student in the room turns their attention to the professor.
The large screen in the middle of the room flickers to light, and before the professor even has a chance to speak you feel a sinking feeling in your chest. The stranger was right. Right there, on the screen, in bold letters as clear as day you read "An introduction to Astronomy".
You have just taken a university level Astronomy class. Not star signs. Space.
The moment the class ends, you rush out. Though you swear those blue eyes trail after you, like he too has seen the huge blunder you've gotten yourself into. You're on a crash course, falling towards the earth in a ball of flames, but there's nothing he can do to help.
One trip to the student support office is all it takes for you to realise you're truly and utterly done for. There is no class on Astrology being offered, at all. Any other class you might have actually wanted to take is already full. And you need the extra credits.
You cannot afford to drop this class.
So you keep going, you keep sitting next to the same white haired guy who looks at you like you're an alien every time you show up. Each lesson is hell, you understand the order of the planets but thats about it. Science has never been your strong suit.
All the theories fly over your head, the equations look more like hieroglyphs, and you often stare at the screen like a deer lost in headlights. Your notes make no sense, because you have no idea what's going on anyway. You're too embarrassed to ask.
After the fourth class, the white haired guy stops you before you can run off again. "So... Astrology?"
His voice is velvet, all honey laced and gentle. He's being kind, trying not to make you feel bad, although he's the only person in this class who knows the mess you're in.
You're too embarrassed to make eye contact, choosing instead to stare at your notes, which are mostly just question marks. "Don't rub it in-"
"I wasn't trying to" he quickly interrupts, before you get the wrong idea. "Listen, (name), if you need help I'm usually at the library after classes."
Your eyebrows lift almost to your hairline at the fact he knows your name. Sure, you understand you're popular on campus, you speak to everyone, attend every party. But you had no idea your name reached even these circles.
"I'm sorry, I don't..." You start, trying to formulate the best way to ask.
Once again, he beats you to it. "It's Gojo. Satoru if you want"
You swear there's a hint of a blush creeping up to the tips of his ears.
That is how Satoru ended up tutoring the girl he's had a crush on since freshman year. Your tutoring sessions are almost daily now, he makes sure to sit in the same place every day so you can spot him easily.
He's been studying you secretly, the way your eyes concentrate on him when he's explaining something in a gentle voice. The way your eyes widen slightly when you don't get it- like a doe.
But his favourite? Its the way you light up when it finally clicks. The smile on your pretty lips warms his heart every time. You think he's doing you a favour, when in fact he's the lucky one.
"Hey, Satoru, what on earth is a Digimon?" You ask him one day, out of the blue. He blinks at you for a moment before it clicks.
Right. His shirt.
"Thats not an astronomy question" he chastises, although the cheeky smile on his face tells you he doesn't mind. Even if his heart is racing, just because you noticed such a small detail about him.
You hum in pure exasperation, slumping back in your chair in a lazy manner that makes him chuckle. "We've been here so long my heads gonna explode if I see another equation"
"Hmm..." Satoru considers for a moment, he leans forward, looking at your notes. You really have worked hard today. Finally, he leans back. "Its a video game, with digital monsters"
"Why do you own so many shirts with that print?" You ask next, still not quite understanding. And Satoru... wonderful, patient, sweet Satoru just smiles.
"Its a good game. Don't judge" He leans forward, tapping a finger on your notebook where you'd noted something down earlier. "This is wrong, Pluto isn't a planet."
That makes you frown. Before you can launch into another rant about how Pluto actually should be a planet and its unfair they took away its planet status, he stops you. "We've been here for ages, you wanna get coffee or something?"
You pause, looking him over with a soft smile. "Yeah, that sounds perfect"
Those words make his entire week.
You've lost your friend. Somewhere, in this giant frat house you've managed to lose your best friend. She's likely in some corner making out with her crush of the week- but she's also your transport home.
You're drunk, overdid it during a drinking game. Your stomach feels uneasy, the music is too loud, its too hot in here with so many bodies. All you want is to go home. But you don't know who to call.
In your drunken haze, only one name comes to mind.
Now, you're outside, in the driveway so full of cars that its like some complicated puzzle game. You hesitate, looking at Satoru's name in your contact list- the only person you trust enough to call in this situation.
But he's probably sleeping right now, and is it too much to ask your tutor to pick you up from a party?
Tutor. That word feels wrong. Somewhere deep down you know you're much more than that.
Its that thought that makes you finally dial. It rings so long that you start second guessing yourself. What if its on silent? What will you do if he doesn't pick up-
"Mmngh... (Name)? What's going on...?"
"Toruuuuuuuu....." You whine through the phone, hearing his breath hitch on the other side. Bedsheets start to rustle.
"What's wrong? Where are you?" His voice is still halfway between consciousness, but more alert now. You can hear him getting out of bed.
"Mmm' drunk.... Toru... can'youuu come get me?" The tiredness in your voice is obvious. While his is full of urgency.
"Can you send me your location? I'm on my way."
Satoru breaks several traffic laws to get to you as fast as possible. He wishes you'd called sooner, that he'd been there tonight. Because the state he finds you in tares him apart.
Barely lucid, sickly. You can't walk straight, and you slumping against him as soon as he reaches you.
In all the chaos, you've lost your keys. Satoru can think of no other option than to take you back to his dorm. He doesn't even know where yours is regardless.
The drive back is much more careful.
Satoru is soft with you, gentle like he's handling something precious. Because he is. He makes sure you're alright, that the unfamiliar setting of his dorm room doesn't scare you, luckily you don't seem to mind. Maybe you're too out of it to notice.
Satoru offers you one of his tops and some of his pyjama trousers to change into. Because your outfit... gorgeous as it is, it can't be comfortable to sleep in.
Of course, this is where you choose to fight him.
"What's wrong'with what'm wearing...?" Your words slur as you glare at him. Satoru tries, he really tries not to stare at your pouting lips, the curve of your shoulders... you're wearing a corset as a top and his eyes briefly lower before he looks away, red and embarrassed.
"Nothing- you're... you look amazing-" He clears his throat, looking anywhere but you. Especially not at the way your short skirt has your thighs exposed. No, he's definitely not looking at that. "It just can't be comfortable to sleep in, right?"
"I'onwanna sleep." You huff, and before he can properly react you drag him down on the bed with you. You move on top, straddling his hips in an order to keep him there. He's instantly wide eyed, frozen.
"(Name)" Satoru protests, but you don't let him.
"You're pretty... can I kiss you?" You giggle, leaning forward. He catches your wrist to stop you.
Gods above, you're so close. You don't even understand how dangerous you are, how its taking every ounce of his self control to hold you back right now. This is all he's wanted, for years. Your body on his, to watch the way your eyes shift up close. He eyes your lips for a moment before swallowing, hard.
The silence between you is so thick that he's sure you can hear his racing heart.
Not like this. You're beyond drunk, and you'll regret it tomorrow.
"We can kiss when you're sober." He whispers, a promise he knows you won't remember tomorrow. Then, as gently as he can, he places his hands on your waist and lifts you up. He gets off the bed, creating distance.
Its nearly impossible to ignore the disappointment in your gaze. Not like this.
"Get some rest, okay? I'm right here if you need anything." Satoru doesn't let you answer before he walks into the bathroom to take a cold, cold shower.
Blissfully, when he comes back out, you're fast asleep. You took his advice too, because you're wearing his shirt now. The sight of you, in his bed, wearing his clothing, stirs something within him that he doesn't let himself think about.
Women like you, gorgeous, charismatic, on top of the world... they don't fit with guys like him. You're like two different areas of study. Like two opposing sides. And by tomorrow, you won't remember that you'd wanted him tonight.
But he will. And right now he isn't sure whether to cherish the memory, or whether ignorance may be bliss.
Satoru sleeps on the floor that night, wrapped up in spare blankets.
Thank you so much if you read all of this! Its not proofread at all so please let me know if you spot mistakes! Love you all~ 🍋

Chapter 2
"Are you sure about this?" Satoru whispers against your neck, holding your waist tightly. His restraint is hanging by a string ready to snap at a moments notice-
"Yeah..." You breathe in a way that has his whole body tensing up. Because you're on top of him again, looking at him with an unmistakable need. "You don't need to hold back anymore Toru~"
Its those words that have him flipping you over, hovering over you while his gaze roams your lips hungrily. So many times he's thought about kissing you, what you might taste like...
"Please..." You murmur. It undoes him.
His lips are on yours before he can second guess himself. Tasting. Devouring.
You taste like honey, drive his senses completely insane. His heart is beating so fast that he's sure you can hear it-
Then he wakes up.
Heart racing, he shoots up, finding he's still on the floor. Satoru takes a few deep breaths, calming himself down from that dream- where it almost lead. Somehow, it feels wrong to even think about you that way without permission.
You're still asleep next to him, on the bed. All soft and innocent. Wearing the face of an angel. Like you aren't the reason he hasn't slept all night.
His mind keeps drifting to the way you'd looked at him last night, the things you'd said. How much of it was the alcohol talking? Was any of it real?
Satoru shakes his head. What use is it worrying about nothing? Because nothing happened- he made sure of it.
How is he ever going to look at you in the eyes again?
The bedsheets smell like mint, that is how you know they're not your own even before opening your eyes.
It's not an unfamiliar experience, to wake up in someone else's dorm after a big party. You've been here before, more times than you'd like to admit. The trick is being able to sneak out undetected, it avoids the embarrassment of it all. One night stands are best forgotten.
You crack an eye open, wincing at the light that floods your vision. Your headache is a thing of nightmares, pounding and dizzying enough that it takes you a good few minutes to adjust. Without getting up, you look around the room, getting your bearings.
You're alone. Good. It'll make this a lot easier.
A little hiss of pain escapes your lips whilst you struggle to sit up- real sneaky. Thats when you notice it, as the covers slip and pool around your waist and you become distinctly aware that you're not in your own clothes.
You're wearing a Digimon shirt.
There's only one person you know who would own such a thing.
As if on queue, the door at the end of the dorm cracks open. You startle, scrambling to get up, right as Satoru enters the room. This is what you were afraid off. How on earth did you end up sleeping with him-- and you don't even remember it?
Satoru stands in the doorway for a moment, holding a paper bag in one hand and a bottle of water in the other. He seems to read the expression on your face, the way you turn bright red, because his eyes widen and he almost drops everything.
"Oh-- oh no! We didn't- nothing happened!" He stammers out, going red himself. You wince, too loud, and so he whispers a little "sorry..."
You get a good look at him then. Messier than you're used to seeing him, bags under his eyes, glasses askew. Are those bedsheets on the floor?
More importantly, how does he still look that handsome?
"Mm.... what happened?" You murmur, watching him approach carefully. He stops an awkward distance away, like some invisible shield is keeping him from getting too close.
"Ah." An unreadable emotion passes over Satoru's eyes, something conflicted, close to disappointment. "You called me, asked me to come get you. And I didn't know where your dorm was so-"
"You came?" You balk at him, at the prospect that you drunk dialled your tutor and he actually came to your rescue. Gave you comfortable clothes to sleep in.
Didn't take advantage of your drunken state.
Satoru looks at you like you've said something strange. "Of course I came. You needed help."
Then, he holds out that paper bag and the water.
"I figured you'd be hungover, there's some painkillers and breakfast in there. And water."
Nobody has ever taken care of you like this. Never. Usually, the morning after a party consists of a walk of shame back to your dorm and a day to rest. Most guys you've been with don't even bother to do breakfast, or speak to you again for that matter.
Satoru is different. Of course he is. He grins in a a way that makes something in your chest tighten.
"Hey, if you keep looking at me like that my ego won't be able to take it, you know."
"Thank you..." You whisper, and it's not enough to convey how you truly feel.
You've kept the Digimon shirt. A week after waking up in Satoru's dorm, you find yourself wearing it again to a study session.
Its comfortable, and large, and smells like mint and snow and him.
You don't miss the way he can't seem to take his eyes off you. Studying you with his blue eyes like he's solving an equation. It makes your stomach flutter, a self satisfied sort of comfort rises in your chest. It emboldens you.
Flirting a little can't hurt, right?
"Hey Toru~" his shoulders stiffen, they always so when you say his name like that. "Can I try your glasses on?"
"Huh, why?" Satoru pause his pen where it was scribbling down notes. His fingers lift, adjusting his glasses like its instinct.
"I wanna see if they suit me" You giggle, while Satoru attempts to seem unimpressed. The slight twitch at the corners of his lips gives him away. You find yourself staring at them, for just a moment.
"Alright..." Satoru replies after a moment, no longer able to keep the smile at bay. He hands them to you, watches as you put them on.
If he wasn't staring before, he definitely is now.
"So? How do I look?"
A blush creeps up his neck, he pauses, in awe for a moment.
"I can't exactly see you very well, you know."
"Ah, yes, of course." Your smile turns sheepish, making to take the glasses off, when he adds. "I'm sure you look cute..."
It's a murmur, barely there. And yet its the best thing you've heard all week. "You think I'm cute?"
Footsteps approach behind you, just as you hand him back his glasses. They're loud, demanding of attention, belonging to someone who doesn't care about the quiet atmosphere of the library.
You recognise him by that sound alone. And so you're not surprised at the large hand braced behind your chair, or the smokey cologne that floods your senses.
On the other side of the desk, Satoru tenses up.
"You're hanging in the library? I never thought I'd see the day..." Your insufferable ex, Sukuna, is standing next to you now. All 6 foot something of tattoos and arrogance, still wearing a football jersey from practice.
"I'm studying, its something people do." You respond, rolling your eyes. Though you smile slightly. Sure, he's an ass. But thgings between the two of you had ended quite... amicably. He's not the commitment type, and you're not one to chase after a man.
"Who's this nerd?" Sukunas eyes flick up to Satoru, who's watching this with an expression of stone, slightly detached.
"Not a nerd, this is my friend, Satoru" You correct him with a small jab to the ribs. Sukuna just laughs.
"Looks like a nerd to me."
"Tutor-" Satoru suddenly blurts out. You both turn to look at him. "I'm her tutor. Astronomy."
The words hit you like a smack, the realisation that he is correcting you. Not a friend, a tutor. You try to make eye contact but he looks away, closing his notebook.
"Satoru...?" You ask, carefully. But his eyes have gone cold.
"Actually, I'm running late to a class. So I need to go." He stands up, taking his backpack and his textbooks. Leaving without so much as a goodbye. You stare after him, slightly dizzy.
What just happened?
He hates Sukuna. Why did it have to be Sukuna?
Satoru feels like someone threw a bucket of ice water over his head. Like he got a brutal push back into reality. The harsh realisation that he was getting carried away with you.
The cold air sobers his thoughts as he heads way from the library, taking a direction at random. He throws on his headphones, but the music does little to silence his mind.
Satory thinks that you're like a star. Bright, warm. The sort that draws people in just with your smile. It's why you're friends with half the campus. Satoru isn't someone who fits into that sort of environment. Doesn't go to parties, or social events. Doesn't follow the college sports teams.
Stars draw in objects with their gravity, host solar systems, provide life. Just as you are bright and full of kindness. But someone like you is much better suited to someone like Sukuna. Someone who isn't afraid of your light.
A nerd. Thats what he is. He exists away from the light, in the dark corners of the universe. He's at his most comfortable when no one is paying attention to him at all.
Despite the fact you were in his bed days ago. Despite the fact that he's the one you called when you were afraid. The fact that Satoru cannot forget the way you'd looked at him that night is irrelevant. It doesn't factor into the facts.
"Who's this nerd?"
The words replay in Satoru's mind. The way in which Sukuna had acted clueless. When in fact they both know each other very well.
He doesn't know what game exactly Sukuna is playing at, but he'll be damned if he let's himself get embarrassed in front of you.
There's a tug at his sleeve, and Satoru startles. He glances back, to where you're holding onto his blue hoodie. Your chest is heaving like you ran after him, face flushed, and your lips are moving though he cannot hear anything with his headphones on.
"Wait, hang on..." Satoru carefully tugs them off with his free hand, because you're refusing to let go of his sleeve. "(Name)? Did you need something?"
"Don't do that." You breathe out, still catching your breath, your hand tightens on his sleeve like he might run away again. "Why are you acting like nothing happened back there?"
"Nothing happened." He lies, attempting a smile. "Listen, I really am late for a class-"
"Satoru!" You demand, refusing to break eye contact. "We both know you're not just my tutor."
"I am your tutor-"
"I'm wearing your shirt for goodness sake!"
The truth hangs between you, weighing down the space where you're still holding onto him. Satoru feels sick. Disgusted with himself that he corrected you when you said you were friends.
But you're not just his tutee. And you're not just his friend either.
This thing between you is becoming too complex. Satoru is a man of formulas, of binary answers. But this has no correct answer, and that scares him. He certainly wasn't going to open this dilemma in front of Sukuna. Wasn't going to show that idiot that you've become important in his life. Wasn't going to let you become ammunition.
The words slip out of his mouth before he can stop himself.
"I need some space. Alright?"
You release a shaky breath, looking at him with something close to betrayal. But you finally let go.
"I really don't understand you..."
Satoru stands there, watching you walk away. He feels like the world's biggest idiot. For a moment, he almost runs after you. The way you'd done for him.
His hand twitches towards you, but them he stops it. Space. Maybe some space is for the best.

When Satoru bought a new bed for you two to share, you had assumed it meant you would finally regain some personal space.
This was proven to be, in fact, false.
This was the third night in a row that you had been awakened by your husband's long limbs smacking you in your sleep. One lanky leg flopped over your own shorter legs while his arm draped over your stomach. It had become a routine of sorts; he would join you in bed around 4AM after finishing his duties, then around 5AM, he would begin his shenanigans.
At first, it was smaller, less irritable things like accidentally nudging you in his sleep, or snoring, but as time went on, his unconscious body seemed to turn restless. Satoru began to spread out on the bed, taking up around seventy five percent of the mattress, leaving you a sliver of space to occupy.
His lanky frame lay sprawled on the bed, limbs stretched out on top of your own as if you were his personal body pillow.
It eventually became insufferable; you couldn’t sleep with his constant invasion of your personal space, so you begged him to buy a bigger bed.
And that he did, except it somehow made the problem worse.
Now you lie awake, 5:17AM, with your husband snoring happily next to you, his leg draped over your hip, arm stretched over your collarbone, and face tucked into the crook of your neck. You didn’t understand how he managed to somehow take up the entire king-sized bed.
You huffed, trying — and failing — to push his body off of you, “Gosh, why are you so damn heavy?” You muttered under your breath, hand moving to nudge him awake.
“Toru, get up!” You whisper shouted, “You’re suffocating me, you oaf.” Gojo blinked groggily, bright blue eyes piercing the dimly lit room, “As much as I adore you, I’d like to get my three hours of beauty sleep, babe.” He groaned, nuzzling further into your neck, “Yeah, Toru. Me too, get off.”
He whined, pulling you further into his embrace as if he was trying to trap you. You rolled your eyes at him, hands still trying to push him away so you could actually enjoy your sleep. “Why do you hate me? I’m just trying to cuddle my wife,” he peeked up at you, blue eyes widening in faux puppy eyes.
“No, you’re suffocating me. Seriously, baby, how do you take up so much space?” He lifted his head, gasping in mock offence, “Are you calling me overweight? That’s so hurtful, I’ll have you know I have an amazing physique.” You stifled a laugh, brushing your fingers through his snowy hair, “Yes, Toru, I can see that, but I wouldn’t be surprised if all those sugary snacks caught up to you.”
“I’m just saying you sprawl out a lot, Toru, I’m trying to sleep, and I feel you practically on top of me.” He hummed into your neck, seemingly contemplating how to respond, “I just enjoy being close to you, is that a crime?”
You giggled, “It is when I’m practically being strangled.” Satoru whined louder this time, “It’s not fair, you deprive me of physical touch, babe.” You swatted his shoulder lightly, “Be quiet, you big baby. No one said we couldn’t cuddle. I just said stop confusing me for the mattress.” He pouted, “But you’re so soft.”
Leaning down, you kissed his pursed lips, “Just cuddle me like a normal person, okay?”
“But I’m not normal,” he sleepily argued.
You laughed, tugging lightly on his messy hair, “I know, baby. I know.”
