Lots of firsts here! First time using a photo as a reference image (hands are still crazy hard thou. :p). Discovered the materials and backgrounds feature in Clipstudio. Used the 'lock transparent pixles' feature to get some nice gradients going. Still not in love with the hair, hands or eyes, but not bad. :D THe glasses look a little 2D, but a great first try. ^_^
The shape of the face is also not quite right, because even though it looks ok this way, if I flipped the image it looked so very wrong. So something a bit skew in there somewhere. :p
Overall though, this is me, and I don't hate it! I'll call that a win. :D
Inspiration from the game I DM, the ten towns of Icewind Dale. :) In this one I learnt about the outline feature in layer properties which makes snow easy~! :D
Also discovered ruler lines, which make keeping the writing spaced and straight MUCH easier. :p
Art challenge π
Decided I wanted to be as expressive with my ears as my other facial features, so did some quick sketches to see what might work. :D

Lets practice orc faces!
I did the one of the right first, because I was trying to do body's and not liking any of them π
Also - found the calligraphy pen! Much fun. π
The one on the left I decided to do a series of mini-kiroz emoji's π Lets see how many we get to. :p
Right - not happy with either of these, but here they are. They're supposed to be our elven rogue Sillavanna, but not quite there yet.
The left one was done first, in photoshop. I love the colours of her face, and the pose, but the hair isn't quite right.
The right one was done in clip studio paint - which I think I like more and am going to swap to. Its more of a monk pose though, and while I like the hair much better, its not what Sillavanna's player said she had. :p I'll have to keep trying.
Both poses are from How to Draw: Manga Chibis: in simple steps by Yishan Li.
A young chifre. Probably learning to sing, or heal or something impressively elvish.
This is one of our clerics in Jess' game. In love with how this turned out, the colours and the clothing effects are cool!! π
This pose comes from How to Draw: Manga Chibis: in simple steps by Yishan Li. I chnaged the hand to add a staff and changed the clothes. The hair took me FOREVER to get the hang of. :p
As you can see, I also found the gradient button in photoshop π
Title: Drake and Kiroz as kids about to cause a mischief.
Jess started a new D&D campaign! I've decided I want to draw it as much as I can for practice, but also so I can see both my art and character grow over the campaign (fingers crossed for not dying on session 1).
We went to Eckersleys (art store) and I got some cool little books on how to draw different things! For this drawing I used the 'How To Draw Manga Chibis in simple steps' by Yishan Li.
This is my half-orc Kiroz and the human fighter Drake, who are 2 of the six characters in our party.
I changed the pose a bit and the clothes, and added in the sword, but pretty happy with how it turned out. First go at a full body, and a background!
The surface pro was also struggling with photoshop, so I found an awesome Wacom Cintiq Pro 16 on fb marketplace! This was my first drawing on that, and sooo much nicer than the surface pro, just because of the screen size and less lag!
I took probably too much inspo for Kiroz's picture from this image by kiikiibee.tumblr.com, so I need to redevelop her so I'm not copying someone else's art. Drake is from the description his player gave me - sans armour because I'm not up to that yet!
Sat down with Jessiollyolive and my mum to do some drawing. I really liked the eyes and ears in the first one! The second I tried to go for the dead-eyed look and didn't really get there, but did find some cool shading things in photoshop. π

Alrighty! Got photoshop loaded on my surface pro and sat down with my Arty housemate Jessiollyolive and decided to draw a dwarf. π
Struggled with the hairline, so headband to the rescue! π That said, I'm pretty happy with the hair and beard!
It begins...
Decided I want to be able to draw my own D&D characters.
Finally bit the bullet and bought a drawing pad and pencil from Typo, then sat down to watch Critical Role's Pub Draw: Head Basics. Watched it at 1.5 speed and 2 hours later has this!! Pretty pleased with myself for my first attempt! The tutorial was really good π€©
Not sure I'm in love with the paper medium though, might go digital. I have a surface pro for work I could try...
