I'm writing a poetry book that will be out in late December.
They'll be 10 bucks or something to break even on making it.
Let me know if you'd like one
Decluttering,
A poem circa 2013-2016
The sweat soaks through my shirt and shorts and onto the leather couch on the porch
Unusually hot September
Trying my best not to think of those things
Youâve said to warm the wet ground around the ember
Before you left and rolled me over
To bake on the other side
My skin stretched bare before you
Your hands placed gently in June to tan the hide
No more about you today
Rather write about my own ascension
Into some place where things are softer for the most part
Some place where I hold onto my own attention
Some secret spot youâd remember from when you were a kid
Days full of tossing sticks into streams
Peonies and violets, maybe sweetgrass
Seeing a safe place written--maybe woven--into The GleamÂ
I know, I know
The season is going to shift again soon
We all want a love more tangible
Rely on your own warmth under the sappy moon.Â

Reminders
Too many poems on sticky notes and I want them documented somewhere
Trying to think of something to listen to
What will hurt the least
While I rummage through your bodyÂ
In my mind, a feast of desire.
Looking through your file cabinet drawers
Pulling cords
Repeatedly out of my chest.
I am a portal and a castle and a crystal cage.
Dip your head to stoop your posture
To crawl inside
Carry the weight.
Our crimes are many but our sentence is none
Just chopped up tiles placed jagged in some kind of stuccoÂ
Around the mirror I won.
Every day shows me that I can continue to be floored
Maybe flooded
Iâm too high to be sure.

Trigger warning: ED
What I said was, âIâm wasting away.â I said, âIâve never been so broke.â âI canât eat thoseâ As my little brother hands me an ice cream sandwich. Why? âBecause Iâm trying to lose weight.â So I can let foreign men take pictures of my body so I can pay down my credit card and buy my bunnies food and maybe buy myself some shampoo. âI run so I can keep improving, so I can beat myself.â Iâm also beating myself in a few other ways Like How Iâm eating less than the last episode. How I get rid of the little pleasures I indulge in. My family canât afford treatment But itâs ok because it doesnât show. We donât even have money to get groceries I could eat My shakes and things Kale Eggs Lunch meat. Mom yelled at my brother for getting the milk that wasnât on sale. I am empty I am emptied I am bare bones. They say itâs feast or famine, Well, We fast until weâre feminine.
Today Iâm wearing my soul on the outside And I donât know how to act around people. Itâs astounding what 5 hours can do to you If youâre not careful. You made contact And because of that Youâve been on my mind all morning. What I weave for you and of you Simmers around my feet. I took a nap on the concrete In the basement at work In a room full of files And the Microphones. Place me someplace comforting And let me be alone with you.
In your teeth
To me, you are early 2000s alternative
The Early November and The Starting Line
Bass lines
Laugh lines around your sugar eyes
I forget to write this
Distracted by distances and movies about Belladonna
And Japanese.
I watch the way you hum when you brush your teeth
In my head.
The way you slide across a kitchen floor with wool socks knit on.
I remember how you like your coffee.
I wonder how youâre shifting now as we listen to the same noise
Divided by wet
I bet you squint at it.
Youâre all over my walls and my steering wheel,
The edges where the rubber wore away.
Get absorbed in the flush
Kid krush
And stiff skin
Tightens by the frightening way Iâve been cold as of late.
Getting off my medication
Searching if symptoms include
Waking up every two hours to itching skin
aching shins
dizziness.
The urge to start a band
and watch Home Movies with you until you fall asleep
your messy head full of the stars you slept under for two weeks.
Good thing it doesn't rain as much here as they all say.
You broke my laptop in half on accident
when it fell off the bed,
took my tattoo cream
left a pound on my floor for it.
Left me on the floor with skinned knees.
Rotating selection
and I'm taking advantage of every choice given to me.
Two more weeks, my foot is in the door
and I can't sleep in the wake of Saturday.
I've just gotten used to hurting all by myself.
Maybe I'll always feel this stain
symptoms including
excessiveness and dreams of slaughter on public transport
cereal at 4am
swollen tonsils to match my tender heart.
What I Wrote Last Night
The first time we met you were looking up intense horoscope compatibility between our signs before I came over. You told me my mind was multi faceted like a diamond. Later you would collapse next to me and tell me it felt like the world was pushing you, pressuring you into a diamond. My hands shake not only when I'm nervous and your body shakes without your dancing shoes. You clean up so nicely, I hope you can clean up nicely for me sometime soon. -------------------------------------------- It's funny. I could never write about you without forcing it. That should have told me something from the start. Instead, three months spelled it out for me, letter by letter or lack there of. I fill them in in my head between spaces of static and subway sounds. I cut my hair and make it colorful, but paint my nails black for mourning. Female power is stronger than anything you've ever known, dear boy, and you'll have to have it beat into you before you realize you've been kissing the neck of a witch. ------------------------------------------- The type of guy who's had so many women that he's completely numb to them. Passes fingers over their bodies Iike he would scrubbing leftovers off his dishes. Slides inside them like a snake through grass, into whatever hole he finds first. Nearly falls asleep. A marathon runner, done with monotony and wanting to be done. He lays on his side and asks for a spliff. A spiritual ritual of forgetting. Instead he talks about her. No, not the one in the bed. Nor the one suspended from the ceiling. But the only girl he gives a fuck about, only in the non physical way. She loves another girl. With each thrust, he tries to give the fuck he reserves for her to others. Drilling his emptiness into their spaces and then watching them let him leak out onto a towel or toilet paper. The son of a bitch even has the nerve to try and hold the one in his bed and ask them to stay. They always do because it's always late and they've had a glass or two of red wine. They suffer through his recitation of Shakespeare and the 8 page love letter he gave her after she told him she loved a girl. He knows all the lines from the tempest. A few from Julius Caesar. The one in the bed listens and hurts with him, or rolls her eyes and reaches for her phone. The morning comes and he says he has dreams about hunting you and you wanting to be found. He shits while you're in the bathroom with him washing your hands of it. He tells you to not get any sugar in your coffee because he doesn't like it that way. Your bruises stay for two weeks before yellowing back to alabaster. ---------------------------------------------

Iâve got a pair of pears on my desk in my dorm room in East London.
Iâve been keeping them around just in case Iâm craving one
I ate two in a row once.
They rot, instead.
I had one of the worst dreams last night when I could find sleep
You werenât in love with me anymore
and you had changed so completely, I felt baffled by the venom at my feet.
I cried like a wild animal and woke up feeling just as bare.
These days life seems a seamless repetition of dull days punctuated by the incredible and incredible pain
And everyday I pass by the rotting pears.
My mother tells me I look better with brown hair
It's "grown up"
Those closest to me tend to try and spin me like cotton candy until I am shaped like a beehive
Sweet as honey
Agreeable.
I'm buzzing with a feeling of inadequacy as I move my fingers through your hair
I feel like I have to, now.
Emotionally deadened like sea salt running down my forehead as I run to lose 20 pounds.
I feel like my body is not my own.
The weight of requirements slip down my shoulder blades like rain racing too fast to catch
it bounces off of my hands instead.
Regulate the way I spend. The way I study. The way I dress. The things I consider funny.
Regulate red tape over my mouth and around my wrists.
Take a test that assesses my association of self harm and death with myself.
I'm in the middle.
Flashback to last September.
Mountain View cemetery on a Thursday night.
No light in the apartment but the pocket knife carries a gleam.
Meant for boys who push too hard for my weak, fragile, spaceless body to scream against.
Instead I insist upon using it on myself.
Everything I have been programmed to believe makes my entirety into the enemy and I'm tired.
I'm tired of struggling to be empowered when the stream is shoving me downhill.
I'll wash up without an identity.
I'll become a vase for somebody to put flowers in.
A vessel for growth and storage. Nooks and crannies to hide in.
Folds of skin to dine on.
Soil--hopefully not nutrient poor. I've had close calls before.
God help me if they find me a field untilled. Â Â
