Praise God for showing me grace and love through every season of my life. Thank you to everyone that came out to support all of us today. All the texts and people praying for us too! Technically I guess you could say that I’ve been a Christian for a better part of my life. I don’t think I’ve fully grasped the weight of being a Christian until my adult years. Life does not get easier when you’re a Christian. As I look back at my walk with Christ, I am definitely human and fall short at every turn. I was taught to be independent and to look out for myself, because in the end, no one else will. I’ve relied on my own strength thinking that my own interests were what was best for me. That has led to very poor decisions that have altered my life and the lives of others, but through everything, even when I came to Him in my darkest moments, He was always there, right by my side, and waiting for me to realize his love and forgiveness. Even at every wrong turn I made, God was there to steer me back to where I was supposed to go. Decisions are hard enough making them on your own, I’ve had to learn to lean on God and to ask him how he wants to use me. Jeremiah 29: 11-13 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” It’s hard to fathom God’s love for me in spite of everything I’ve done and the sins I’ve committed. I have been putting off getting baptized for a long time and I’ll admit, there was a bit of fear in there as well, but through everything, God has been waiting patiently as He always has in the past and continued to show his love and mercy in my life. I’m getting baptized today because that is what He asks of us and that’s the least I could do for him, especially after all that he has done for me.
