Notes on what was said:
Wide Angle - shots to establish singers genre etc. - context of the moment, gives a symbolic meaning.
Medium Shot - single out whatās important (match on action - draws attention to important things, like certain props)
Close ups - The most POWERFUL shot. The close-up is used to establish in the video what the most important events are, puts emphasis on them for the audience so that the audience will know that this is something that they need to focus on, there is also the point of not using too many close-ups, otherwise they might lose their impact.
B-Roll - Secondary footage that adds meaning to the sequence or disguises the elimination of unwanted content. B-rolls typically enhance the moment, but donāt move the story forward. .
Shot sequencing - Establish scene - Establish whatās important - Control pace - Cut out - Control the messageĀ you want to send - communication.
Make a shot while thinking about alternatives within that shot.
Create a story board of shot clusters - mini moments within a big moment.
Shot sequencing allows you to control the pace.
Tripod shooting gives ārealityā - e.g. In a wedding video, it creates a more intense, better fantasy version through shot sequencing.
The key is to get into peoples minds, to impress the audience.
Shot sequencing allows you to cut out air or unwanted moments/shots.
Shot Sequencing: The building blocks of storytelling.
Shot sequencing is basically taking a moment that you could view/film from one angle and instead capturing it from many angles. Shot sequencing also allows you to control the pace of the video and cut out/edit out unwanted parts of the video or parts that might not fit with what the film maker is trying to show/convey to an audience.
Changing the sequence and using different angles also makes the video seem faster to the audience when in reality, the video probably lasts a bit longer than a video without any edits or different angles. Shot sequencing may also immerse the audience more into the story as the different shots and angles make the pace seem faster but may also influence how an audience interprets what happens in the video.
There is a theory which says that us as humans prefer fantasy to reality because humans donāt want to face the truth about aspects within their lives.

Kodaline ā The One https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLPGtQoRUbk
This music is fairly conventional to the indie genre as the narrative is based on a personal journey. The parallel editing in this video creates sympathy for both protagonists as the events happening are happing at the same time but is sad that they cross paths on many occasions but never meet.
The way it shows both of their lives happening at the same time, creates tension form the audience as it makes them hope and wonder if theyāll ever meet, and when they do it romanticises their love story.
Kodaline ā High Hopes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4povfmX144
This video is fairly conventional to the indie genre as it creates the sympathy as it clearly the struggles of life and how the smallest thing could turn everything around.
The sympathy is also created as they both wasnāt happy with their lives as she ran away from an unwanted marriage and he wasnāt happy within his own life and they ran away together and fell in love, then almost die together but also how they survived together.
