Leaf never thought she’d ever get to this point in her life.  She was only 22 years old, yet here she was at a speed dating event.  

After paying the absolutely outrageous 300 Poke to be here and having sat through a first round of men, she was starting to regret her decisions.  The giant ballroom was filled to the brim, and it was hot.  The refreshments were fine, but definitely not worth the entry fee.  Evidently this event was only for the most eligible singles in Hoenn, but she wasn’t really even from the region.  She was only there on a whim.  Kya was getting antsy, so Leaf thought a swim in her home waters would help her calm down.  She really didn’t even belong here, if she was being honest.  Worst of all, she felt like she had nothing to offer anyone here.  All of the guys seemed to be looking for something that... wasn’t her.  She didn’t even know what it was, but she knew she didn’t fit the bill.                        

The second round must’ve started.  More men were being rushed in front of her. She almost felt bad.  None of them interested her, so much so that she couldn’t even remember their names.  It wasn’t like her to be like this, but she wasn’t having fun.  After this next guy, she was probably going to leave.  

A poor guy with a fun looking hat sat down in front of her.  He at least looked nice, she couldn’t say that about some of the others.  She might as well try this one last time.  

“Hi! I’m Leaf.  I’m currently traveling the world with my Pokemon.  I’m looking to try and complete a League again sometime in the next year,” 

The Pettiest Thing My Muse has Ever Done

While she was in Unova, Leaf frequented a specific family restaurant.  The staff was absolutely amazing and they had the best coffee she’d ever had.  The only thing that wasn’t amazing, however, was this guy who’d always sit next to her at the counter and talk over her.  Whenever a waitress would come and talk to her, this guy took it upon himself to pop into the conversation and all but block out Leaf.  She could never figure out why he did it, but after the fifth time she didn’t particularly care.  One day, this guy seemed to do everything possible to make sure he eclipsed her.  Fed up with being shoved aside, when he got up to go to the bathroom, Leaf dumped the entire salt and pepper shaker into his food.   Then she got the hell out of her.  To this day, she hasn’t gone back into that restaurant and has no idea how  he reacted.  Frankly, she doesn’t want to know.  

Rui is a known face in the Orre region.  Between her projects and frequent appearances in the nightlife, there seemed to not be a single person in Orre who didn’t know her name.  Well, all except for one.  He was a new bartender at Sal’s.  In all fairness, Rui didn’t look like she belonged in the crowd, but the second she started chumming it up with the usual crowd, the guy should’ve known.  Instead, he had the audacity to yell across the bar,

“You sure you wanna be here, Sweetie?  It’s a rough crowd out here,” 

Rui almost ran over and punched the guy right then and there.  Miraculously, she didn’t.  She didn’t want to cause any drama for Sal, he’d always been there for her, but this guy had to go.  Instead of punching him, Rui waited until he left the bar unattended for a moment.  While he was gone, Rui went and changed the labels on all of the taps.  She loved Sal, but he was cheap.  He didn’t have custom taps for each beer, but just labeled them with notecards for the bartender.  She made sure they were completely wrong, switching Light and Dark Beers, Hops for IPA’s, anything and everything.  She waited until he came back and gave someone an incorrect drink, and then left.  Sal called her the next afternoon and told her he knew what she’d done, but after the new bartender got his fifth complaint that night, the guy decided bartending wasn’t his thing and walked out.  Rui couldn’t say she was too upset about it, but she did feel bad for Sal.  She helped him find a new, much less judgemental bartender.

Leaf:

1). Leaf’s parents make sure to call her once a week and check up.  They ask her about everything from her travels to the new foods she’s tried to how Red and Green are doing.  She always sets aside time for the call and looks forward to it.2). Aside from her Mom, Leaf’s biggest female rolemodel is Cynthia.  Cynthia is intelligent, poised, talented, and unashamed of herself.  She’s everything Leaf would like to be in life.  3). Due to growing up in a bakery, Leaf isn’t the biggest fan of sweets.  She’ll eat them if they’re there, but she doesn’t go out of her way to get them.  If she ever goes out with someone for pastries or ice cream, she’ll get something small and with minimal sugar.  4). Leaf worries about the health of her Pokemon a lot.  She’s especially worried about Bulby in his old age.  While he deserves rest, and she has no doubt that he’d be able to battle if she needed him, she’s worried about his health declining at any moment.  He’s always been a part of her team and at her side, and Leaf isn’t willing to think of a future without him.  5). Leaf will sing to herself when she thinks no one is around.  It helps get her mind off of things and bring some background noise to whatever task she’s doing by herself.

How would my muse fare in the Hunger Games?

Leaf would at least survive a day or two.  She’s intelligent and understands the basics of survival.  Gathering and surviving wouldn’t be an issue.  Her problems arise the second she needs to engage in combat.  Leaf isn’t afraid of combat, but she doesn’t like it.  She has no skills outside of formal Pokemon battles.  She’d be able to last for a while, but she’s definitely far less skilled than her opponents.  She could out run and out last, but that only gets one so far in the Hunger Games.  Mentally, Leaf would hold up well, especially since she wouldn’t be killing anyone.  The loneliness may start to get her, however, and lessen her will to continue in the games.  

Rui would be able to survive and fight fine, if she could stop herself from attacking every person she saw.  Rui isn’t one to wait around and let things happen to her, and that’s her biggest weakness.  That’d be fantastic for staying on top of her resources, but she’d go out and try to guarantee her chances of winning.  The best way to do that, obviously, is by taking out the other players.  She’d go pick a fight she most definitely couldn’t win and that would be her downfall.  If she could refrain from that, she may actually have a shot at winning, but she probably wouldn’t be able to stop herself.  The paranoia would start to get to her after a while.  She’s already used to being in high intensity, high risk situations. However, in the arena she has no one to rely and that would send her into a downward spiral.  

How would my muses fare in the Zombie Apocalypse?  

Assuming she had a group, Leaf would be just fine.  Out run and out last is the name of her game.  She hates being stagnant anyway, so she’d be more than willing to out run zombies.  The fact that they’re undead would make combat easier for her.  She was letting them finally rest.  As long as she had a group that supported each other, she would be fine.  

“Zinnia’s so cool! She’s big and bold and full of life. She tricked me into thinking she was a psychic and I’m honestly not even mad about it. I got her number and we got lunch and I would totally do it again sometime. Maybe I’ll fly her out to Kanto or Alola the next time I go. She’s so much fun and I can’t wait to see her again.”

Suddenly, a blush creeps across her face.

“I don’t know what goes through Kain’s head sometimes.  He’s so stubborn! He thinks he’s so smooth and he’s so skilled.  He makes fun of me a lot because I don’t battle.  I don’t like it! It makes me feel gross.  I’ll cheer on the others and I’ll… say mean things about the other Pokemon sometimes, I’ll admit that, but that’s not bad! I don’t need to battle.

Handwriting

Leaf’s handwriting is a mish mosh of cursive and print.  Some of her words will be partly cursive, but then she switched to print halfway through.  It’s sloppy and almost unreadable to anyone but her, well, even she can’t read it sometimes.  She developed this style while she was in school because it’s literally the fastest way possible to write.  

Daytime or Nightime

Leaf is a complete night owl.  Red always calls her a Noctowl whenever she complains about being tired, or whenever he feels like it.  Whenever she goes out, she’s out until 4 AM.  She’ll stay up that late for kicks and giggles too.  She functions best at night and habitually goes out on her own at 2 AM to train or just walk around.   That being said, she’s good at going to bed early when the time calls for it. 

She won’t be very happy about it, but she’ll do it.
