Are you even a real metalhead if you don’t headbang to that one bit in Piano Concerto 2 by Rachmaninoff?
Every book I read in 2025 and what I thought of it
Frankenstein (Mary Shelly) - I enjoyed it
Carmilla (Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu) - I enjoyed it
Dracula (Bram Stoker) - I enjoyed it but the ending was too long
Breakfast at Tiffany’s (Truman Capote) - uniquely enjoyable
Moby Dick (Herman Melville) - I fell in love with the narrator
The Count of Monte Cristo (Alexandre Dumas) - favourite book of all time
Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (John le Carré) - I would have enjoyed it more had I not read the count of monte cristo before it (still good though)
A Nasty Business/A Meek One/White Nights (Fyodor Dostoyevsky) - the first was very funny, the second was rather strange, and the third was a masterpiece. This little collection got me hooked on Dostoyevsky and looking forward to reading more
Wuthering Heights (Emily Brontë) - her talent for writing horrible people is unparalleled. It’s truly devastating that she only wrote one book
Hamlet (William Shakespeare) - it was very good, but I can’t call it one of my favourite Shakespeare plays
Crime and Punishment (Fyodor Dostoyevsky) - disappointing is all I can say for Crime and Punishment. I’d have to read it again to form a proper opinion, but this makes two Russian authors who have disappointed me with the conclusions to the stories of their characters called Sonya (the other is Tolstoy)
The Tenant of Wildfell Hall (Anne Brontë) - almost my favourite book of all time (3rd place)
Les Misérable (Victor Hugo) - favourite book of all time
Romeo and Juliet (William Shakespeare) - I found it quite unique
Twelfth Night (William Shakespeare) - you gotta love homosexuality
A Midsummer Night’s Dream (William Shakespeare) - my favourite of his plays, though the ending is fucking dogshit lol (I still love it though)
Kiki’s Delivery Service (Eiko Kadono) - a very charming little book
Mrs Dalloway (Virginia Woolf) - I would consider this a strong contender for the best book of all time, but while it is one of my favourites, I would not put it in my top five
Heidi (Johanna Spyri) - another very charming children’s book, and one I found very funny (the cats)
Ulysses (James Joyce) - Another one I need to read again (though I did enjoy it), as I didn’t really understand most of it, but you’ve gotta love femdom and female vulgarity in your 1922 modernist classic
Metamorphoses (Ovid) - my favourite epic poem and strangely one of my favourite authors. I’m going to read Heroides soon
Agnes Grey (Anne Brontë) - enjoyable on its own, but I think having read her second novel before and being able to see how she evolved as an author really elevated my reading experience
The Phantom of the Opera (Gaston Leroux) - a fucking banger. My god, the French don’t miss
Snow Country (Yasunari Kawabata) - an interesting read certainly, but the ending was absolutely one of those ‘I don’t know how to end this so here you go’ endings. Good nonetheless
The Epic of Gilgamesh (?) - crazy how the oldest surviving piece of human literature is about legacy and death. Also crazy how good it is (Gilgamesh x Enkidu for life)
The Ballad of the Sad Café (Carson McCullers) - the damn thing forced me to like it so it could sucker punch all the happiness out of me. Read if you want to be sad
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (Lewis Carroll) - reading this while half asleep really adds to it. I enjoyed it
The Odyssey (Homer) - again I was forced to like a book by the book itself, but this time I was given a happy ending instead, kind of. I still don’t like Odysseus
Books I started but did not finish for various reasons
Madame Bovary (Gustave Flaubert)
Vanity Fair (William Makepeace Thackeray)
Lolita (Vladimir Nabokov)
The Nutcracker (E.T.A Hoffmann)
I just burnt myself out, that’s why I didn’t finish them
Book I’ve read this year I think everyone should read
The Count of Monte Cristo
Les Misérable
The Tenant of Wildfell Hall
Mrs Dalloway
And any Shakespeare play you might even remotely be interested in
Jean Ouique
hey funny yellow guy give us your input on the recent events
Hahah
wait what happened
The most moderate prominent right wing figure was shot and killed
Charlie Kirk was murdered in cold blood at the age of 31, leaving behind his wife and young children.
May he rest in peace, and may every person who celebrates this horrific act of political violence one day feel ashamed of their ghoulish actions and repent.
For years I've seen a nonstop deluge of right wingers cracking jokes and cheering for the murders, suicides and oppression of vulnerable and marginalized groups. I've seen these same people laugh at the deaths of the other party. I've seen Charlie Kirk at every turn adamantly support the continued genocide of tens of thousands of fatherless children in Palestine. Not once do you express shame with going along with this rhetoric, a rhetoric that casually and willfully allows the continued slaughtering and induced hate crime of an innumerable number of people -- and yet you expect me to feel shame for being glad that the spewer of this vitriol is no more?

starting october and through to halloween on this site there should be a splatfest-type thing for tumblr where you choose a team like team vampire vs team werewolf, maybe a third one maybe not, but idk maybe the team with the most posts gets like a cool badge or something at the end
@humans @staff you're welcome
there should be a team vampire vs team werewolf counter at the top of the site and during october you get a fun little badge next to your name just something for fun
Choose Your Team
Team Vampire
Team Werewolf
OBVIOUSLY reblog this because I appeal to werewolves and this needs to break containment so it gets a fair shot but i also want more people to see this in general

Guy with boobs takes off his bra, call that ‘freeing the lads’
Not liking a gay ship but liking them as friends has you sounding like a historian. You’ll say ‘oh they’re such good friends’ and the whole time they look like this:
some haven’t chilled out and listen to Seahorse Birth by Jesse Novak in a while and it shows
Why would I want a volvo, I’m a pregnant woman? (I’m a childless teenage boy)

Dreamt last night that I was in an episode of Seinfeld (I’ve never watch Seinfeld btw) and I was George. Me, Jerry and Kramer were all getting ready to go to some high end gala or whatever when it dawned on me and Jerry that Kramer was some kind of creature in the shape of Kramer so we beat him up with floor boards
