CAS Experience Final Reflection
What did you enjoy most about CAS?
What enjoyed most about CAS was the ability to step out of my academic routine and develop my interests. The creativity strand helped me to improve my skills and learn from my mistakes, fostering a sense of accomplishment and self-development and personal growth. Through the activity strand, I improved my form and embraced physical challenges connected to my activities. Most significantly, creative activities opened my eyes to the importance of taking care of constant self development and generating constantly creative products to advance my art skills.
What was your greatest challenge and how did you overcome this?
The greatest challenge I faced during my CAS experience was finding the willpower to persevere through my projects, as it was challenging for me to find the time to commit to them long-term. However, once I persevered, for example in running, I saw how rewarding it was to see my progress and it motivated me to continue running and take care of my physical health.
What have you achieved through CAS?
The main thing I achieved through CAS was achieving a deeper understanding of my strengths and passions. The activity component, for example, allowed me to enhance my physical well-being and form through challenging running goals, as well as gave me the opportunity to explore my passion of doodling, drawing, painting and making art; and helping out others. These experiences not only nurtured my personal growth but also instilled a sense of responsibility, empathy, and commitment.
What abilities and skills did you develop most significantly in CAS?
Through my CAS experience, the abilities and skills I developed most significantly revolved around enhancing my running abilities and endurance and the capacity to assist others and art skills. This endeavor was a journey of self-discipline, requiring countless hours of practice and patience. Simultaneously, CAS allowed me to grow in my ability to help people. Whether through giving lessons to younger peers or volunteering at the Ronald McDonald foundation, I learned the importance of empathy, giving back to the community, while improving my teaching and organization skills.
Which learning outcome did you find most easy to achieve?
The learning outcome I found easiest to achieve in CAS was "Evidence of identification of strengths and areas for personal growth (LO1)." Reflecting on my experiences, recognizing my strengths such as working on my artworks and constant artistic development, and acknowledging areas needing growth, like time management and organization. This introspection was a valuable process, helping me to improve my skills and self-development.
Most difficult to achieve?
Conservely, the most challenging outcome to achieve was "Evidence of commitment and perseverance in CAS experiences (LO4)." Staying dedicated to long-term goals, especially in complex projects like mastering intricate piano pieces, the ability of running 10km in 45 minutes or leading community service initiatives, proved challenging due to demanding academics. Balancing CAS with academic responsibilities demanded significant discipline and adaptability. However, overcoming these challenges was profoundly rewarding, teaching me resilience and the importance of commitment to personal growth .
