Courtney Leigh Hollins of Centre of Attention Artistry is a true industry inspiration of mine. Her “no-time-for-fakes” attitude to the craft - and at times how frustrating learning something new can be - gives me a sense of comical relief as well as incentive to watch her videos; not only is she teaching me something new, shes making me laugh at the same time and this is honestly the kind of person and MUA I aspire to be.


Hi Tumblr! Let me introduce myself: My name is Lina de Vries and I am currently studying a Certificate III in Makeup at Chisholm in Dandenong (hi from Melbourne!). I have always had a love of makeup, but I do NOT have a creative bone in my body, so I had no idea how to learn the basics of the trade. I have always wanted to learn, but I’m the kind of person who doesn’t pick things up by watching a video on YouTube - like a lot of my peers. I need for someone to be in front of me and pointing out what they’re seeing in real time, or showing me their techniques in person. I enrolled in this course at the beginning of 2021; unfortunately, I had to withdraw from the course for personal reasons but have enrolled again for the second semester intake as I am determined to achieve this certification! When I’m finished this course, I plan on considering the Diploma - this will be dependant on whether I have obtained a full-time job and whether our current global climate with the Pandemic allows. I hope to achieve the dream of being a freelance MUA, working entirely independently for different events such as black-tie celebrations (awards nights, charity balls, etc) and engagements/weddings.
