HOW TO HANDLE DEPRESSION, WORRYING, STRESS, AND ANXIETY
âSo how do you best respond when mental or emotional challenges confront you or those you love? Above all, never lose faith in your Father in Heaven, who loves you more than you can comprehend. ⌠Never, ever doubt that, and never harden your heart. Faithfully pursue the time-tested devotional practices that bring the Spirit of the Lord into your life. Seek the counsel of those who hold keys for your spiritual well-being. Ask for and cherish priesthood blessings. Take the sacrament every week, and hold fast to the perfecting promises of the Atonement of Jesus Christ.Believe in miracles. ⌠Hope is never lost. If those miracles do not come soon or fully or seemingly at all, remember the Saviorâs own anguished example: if the bitter cup does not pass, drink it and be strong, trusting in happier days ahead..."
MATTHEW 26:39Â NEW TESTAMENT 39
AND HE WENT A LITTLE FURTHER, AND FELL ON HIS FACE, AND PRAYED, SAYING, O MY FATHER, IF IT BE POSSIBLE, LET THIS CUP PASS FROM ME: NEVERTHELESS NOT AS I WILL, BUT AS THOU WILT.
"little distinction between the spiritual side effects of depression and actual unworthiness. Most cognitive therapy dealt with âthinking mistakesâ and recognizing triggers. Such concepts can be helpful, but I also wanted a spiritually focused solution because for me, peace and healing came when I was able to truly feel my divine worth and spiritual potential...It was reassuring to know that I was not a bad person, that I had worth, and that God had not condemned me....we can seek aid through the healing, enabling, and redemptive powers of the Atonement of Jesus Christ."

âTHE APOSTLE PAUL ALSO HAD A PROBLEM THAT WOULDNâT GO AWAY. HE DESCRIBED IT AS âA THORN IN THE FLESHâ (2 CORINTHIANS 12:7). HE ASKED THE LORD SEVERAL TIMES TO TAKE IT FROM HIM, BUT THE LORD DIDNâT. THROUGH IT ALL, PAUL LEARNED AN IMPORTANT LESSON. âMY STRENGTH IS MADE PERFECT IN WEAKNESS,â HE SAID. âMOST GLADLY THEREFORE WILL I RATHER GLORY IN MY INFIRMITIES, THAT THE POWER OF CHRIST MAY REST UPON MEâ (2 CORINTHIANS 12:9).
PAUL LEARNED TO RELY ON THE LORD THROUGH HIS CHALLENGES. LIKE PAUL, I NEEDED TO BE WILLING TO PLACE MY BURDENS ON THE LORD. HE LOVES US AND WANTS TO HELP US. HE SAID, âCOME UNTO ME, ALL YE THAT LABOUR AND ARE HEAVY LADEN, AND I WILL GIVE YOU RESTâ (MATTHEW 11:28).
âWHEN WE HAND OUR FEARS AND FRUSTRATIONS TO HIM, HE WILL HELP US EMOTIONALLY AND SPIRITUALLY. âI WILL NOT LEAVE YOU COMFORTLESS,â THE SAVIOR SAID. âI WILL COME TO YOUâ (JOHN 14:18). RECEIVING HIS COMFORT IN MY HOUR OF NEED IS ONE THING I KNOW IâLL NEVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT.
