Disciplined hard working hi vis manual operative crew kept very productive working their long shifts 6 days a week to very strictly enforced deadlines and standards just like at work with gaffer. The issued hi vis uniforms should be worn with pride at all times. They display our operative number and status at the company.
Boss monitors each of our performance throughout the shift and expects us to have a sweat on at all times that proves to him that we are working hard enough. He expects us to work all the overtime that he tells us we will be working that day as we have to be flexible obedient and loyal to the crew at all times. This can make the shifts 12 hrs long most days.
We need the long hours shifts as the wages are minimum wage. When we have finished our shift we go back to the company caravans at the yard provided for the crew that we live in. The rent is reduced and deducted from the wages each week. We stay in our issued hi vis uniform for the rest of the day in case gaffer needs us to go out on short notice call out so have to be ready at all times 6 days a week. We all get Sundays off and have to go to the pub together with gaffer proudly advertising the company name wearing our uniforms. Its not too bad as we all have access to a shower that evening and our uniforms are washed at month end. Im told I’m doing well coping with the discipline. I’m a good loyal team player
If I don’t graft hard enough Boss has told me he will fire me on the spot and get someone else who can cope with the work. I’ve worked for the company 4 years now.

Memo 74/2016
Monitoring of work rates have indicated that a minority of operatives are entering shops and public conveniences during their shift. Operatives are reminded that this in contravention of Rule 243 which states that a single break of 10 minutes is permitted after 6 hours of work. This break is to allow for refreshment and any person toilet issues. An appropriate work rate should ensure that no further breaks are necessary. Operatives must deal with any personal needs without stopping work. Any future contravention of this regulation will result in a pay adjustment and suspension for 2 days without pay.
Operatives are also reminded of Rule 328 which states that all operatives are jointly responsible for the efficient operation of their team. It is considered collusion with a failing operative if any misdemeanour is not reported promptly to the management. As such, operatives are reminded that should any unreported transgression occur, all members of the team will have a similar adjustment to pay and furthermore that during their colleagues suspension no additional personnel will be added to a team so the team will need to work at a higher rate to cover for their suspended colleague
great memo from gaffer. be interesting to see any of the poor operative attitude or work rate feedback sent to him. Also I’ve heard that some public deliberately send in poor feedback just to fuck us operatives off. Looking down on us. Sometimes public send ideas to the gaffer about how they think that he could increase our work rate and how much work he gets out of us on a shift. Eg earlier starts. Breaks, Voluntary time at end of shift. Any ideas?
Memo 81/2016
Operatives will be saddened to hear that complaints have been received about certain of their fellow operatives this week. The company cannot have its name sullied by failings of any sort from any operatives and therefore must take action.
The first complaint concerns operatives 32 and 47 - that they were observed to remove their shirts in public. When rightly challenged by a member of the public they were said to have mentioned that it was a hot day. Operatives are reminded that they must be correctly dressed at ALL times, whatever the prevailing weather conditions. To that end, until further notice memo 65/2016 permitting the removal of outer coats in warm weather is hereby rescinded. Operatives should wear all clothing, except waterproof trousers, but including coats AT ALL TIMES until further notice and all uniform should be CORRECTLY FASTENED at all times. Operatives will be aware that they have these two operatives to thank for the removal of the generous condition of their employment. The said operatives have been fined 7 days pay for their transgression.
The second complaint came from a member of the public that Team G was 15 minutes late emptying their rubbish. The member of the public has suggested that an earlier start each morning might help operatives keep to time. To that end from tomorrow June 5 2016 operatives should arrive for work 30 minutes earlier at 0530. This will allow better time keeping. Since there will be no changes to work load this will be seen as voluntary overtime and as such will be unremunerated. The end of the normal working day will continue to be 1800.
Finally, a positive comment from the public. Team C was praised by Mrs F in that they returned to her property to help tidy her garden for 3 hours of their own time. This is good publicity for the company and as such Team C has been rewarded with an additional orgasm today. The company believes that such activity should be the norm and as such, large posters will be displayed on all company vehicles offering voluntary labour of up to 6 hours at any one time for a deserving cause. If any such requests are received they will be communicated to team leaders and these will be completed the same day as requested immediately after the end of the normal shift. Operatives are reminded that when completing these voluntary activities they should be gracious to the public and wear their full work clothing. Later in the year, when the evenings are too dark then such voluntary work will be scheduled for Sundays and any occasional relief days.
Very horny memo stinkykev. Can you just imagine having your Boss have this total control over your life and work. having to immediately do as your told. No control. workgear and gduk could fit well into the crew working here. What sort of feedback could you too think of? Stinkykev and other feedback. Like the voluntary unpaid time idea. Keeps idle hands busy so don’t get into trouble.
With the CCTV cameras all over the wagon, keeping below the boss’s radar is almost impossible. Never seems to pick on the lazy agency bloke though, who takes no pride in his work, isn’t in proper uniform and doesn’t get much above dead slow until it’s time for a break at the roadside burger van - then he’s first in the queue. As the boss’s permanent staff we have to pick up the slack as we’re the ones who’ll get blamed if the crew doesn’t do a good job.
Just checking I’ve got my fresh uniform ready for the month: polo shirt, sweatshirt, ballistic trousers, Kevlar gloves, steel-toe boots, jacket and waterproof trousers. Let’s hope the woolly hat is optional this time.

As you are aware operatives are strictly NOT permitted to clean their uniform themselves as this wears away the hi vis stripe. We have a uniform replacement process set up for you. However, Just to make you lads aware that this months fresh kit will not be issued as budgets are tights as operatives are not hitting productivity targets on the bin lorries. As a result, to reduce costs the uniform that you are wearing now will be replaced every 2 months instead of monthly and all crews will be reduced by one operative so work rates must increase by 20% for all operatives with immediate effect.
A small deduction has also been introduced from your wages to cover this fresh uniform and will be deducted from wages before you retrieve it. You may opt out of this 2 month uniform replacement process and wear the same uniform and have it replaced every quarter if you wish for which there will be no charge. Its expected by management that there will be 100% take up of the new quarterly (3 months) scheme by operatives.

I met a bloke the other day who works on the tar. He’s got a kid in primary school and they were talking about ‘People who help us’ and jobs. The lad said when he finished school he wanted to work on the tar. The teacher looked down at him and said he should aspire to better than that - maybe work with computers.
I bet she wouldn’t be happy when she bursts a tyre on a pothole, her bins went uncollected or she didn’t have power or water because there was no one to dig a hole in the road to mend the pipes.
We need to encourage kids to join the Hi Viz army - we are hard working people without which the country would be in an even bigger mess that it is now. Exams and qualis are not the be all and end all - work with your muscles and stay fit.
