words hurt like daggers through his heart. he was more alike his father than he had realized so maybe it was inevitable? he would hurt the ones he loved the most. “ yeah… “ eric struggled to find the right words to say. nothing could make up for what he had done so what was the point in trying? caught by surprise when she moved closer and touched him. “ hard not to. “ voice almost cracked as he spoke. eyes watery when he looked down at her. “ i’m sorry francis. “ hands move up to cup her cheeks, “ i don’t want to be like him. “ 

of course eric had thought about their future because he wanted them to have a future together. when he saw the result on the pregnancy test, it felt like a death sentence. he saw his deadbeat dad, who only made him feel like he was a piece of shit. nothing worth sticking around for. eric wasn’t near ready to become a dad. if he ever brought a kid to the world he wanted to be stable. “ i didn’t know that… “ voice low as he replied, still staring at the ground. “ it had nothing to do with my love for you. “ he wasn’t very open with how he grew up and how it had molded him into the person he had become. maybe he should have. francis deserved that. “ maybe you don’t believe that but… i don’t want my kid to grow up hating me as much as i did with my dad. “ finally, he met her gaze again. vulnerable and soft. 

Her hands grasp his cheeks and turn his face, her lips pressing against his. Dark lashes flutter shut, melting into her, kissing back softly until she pulls back. He loves how she feels against him, already wanting to kiss her again, but caught off guard by her words.

“Wait… what’s weird? Does it have to do with us?” There’s faint anxiety in his chest at the thought. He’s aware of, like, the risks of them dating, and how it might complicate things if people found out too soon. He doesn’t really know all of the things going on behind the scenes in Zelda’s life, even though he’d like to.

“Where do you wanna go tonight? I know we still can’t be seen in public or whatever, so I was gonna suggest the lake… I have some drinks in the back. We could skinny dip or some shit.” There’s faint amusement in his tone, because it’s kind of a weird backwoods thing to suggest, but it could be fun. Besides, Elliot loves the excitement of things like this.

zelda  yearned  for  escape ,  whenever  things  in  life  had  gotten  hard  she  had  a  propensity  to  run.  always  on  the  move  meant  never  having  time  to  meet  anyone ,  loneliness  had  settled  into  her  bones  and  ate  away  at  the  very  core  of  her.  with  elliot  in  her  life  so  much  had  begun  to  change.  being  around  him  made  her  feel  alive  in  a  way  that  she  hadn’t  in  years ,  but  complicating  things  always  looms  over  her  like  a  storm  cloud  just  waiting  to  ruin  their  perfect  weather.  “ nothing  weird  with  us ,  everything  with  us  is  perfect.  i  just  have  this  bad  feeling  my  dad  has  people watching  me  again. ”  zelda  had  once  briefly  explained  the  situation  with  her  dad  and  brother  to  him  before.  it  came  down  to  her  father  hating  not  being  in  control  of  her  life  the  way  he  was  with  her  brother ,  who  was  very  much  a  carbon  copy  of  their  dad  -  only  worse.  the  men  had  a  history  of  having  zelda  watched  so  they  could  rear  their  ugly  heads  the  moment  the  femme  did  something  they  didn’t  like.  taking  elliot’s  hand  she  laced  her  lithe  fingers  between  his  before  realsing  a  sigh  that  she’d  seemed  to  be  holding  in.  “ honestly  the  lake  sounds  perfect ,  it’s  far  enough  out  of  the  way  where  we  can  just  be  alone ,  plus  if  someone  was  following  us  there’d  be  plenty  of  places  for  us  to  hide  a  body. ”  settling  back  into  her  seat  she  laughed ,  “ i’m  gonna  make  you  my  accomplice. ”

unconsciously maybe he thought that if he acted carless about everything, that it would make francis come back to him. that things would turn alright. before they get together he wasn’t a relationship guy but with her… how could he not? the blonde was everything he wanted in a girl and so much more. “ yeah. “ glancing her way as he took a drag from his cigarette. “ and what does that look like? “ he asked curious. he knew he’d been a douchebag. the pregnancy scare caught eric off guard and he was scared. he couldn’t be a father! he felt he was far away from a good person and clearly not enough to be a family man. slowly he blew out smoke, looking down at the ground. “ i know i should’ve… stayed. i just couldn’t then. you know i’m not made out for all that stuff… “ still, it didn’t change the feelings he had for her. 

when  lucas  pulls  away  ,  vince  knows  he’s  completely  fucked  up.  he’s  never  been  good  at  getting  his  words  out  and  this  is  just  further  proof  of  that.  “  can  we  just  bring  it  down  a  notch  for  a  fucking  second?  ”  he  takes  two  steps  back  from  his  best  friend  ,  giving  the  man  some  space.  “  i’m  not  saying  i  want  to  treat  you  like  a  one  night  stand.  ”  technically  ,  he  did  say  that’s  what’s  going  to  happen  ,  but  he  didn’t  mean  it  that  way.  “  i’m  just  saying  that’s  all  i’m  used  to.  what  the  fuck  is  the  saying  about  teaching  an  old  dog  new  tricks  or  whatever.  ”  being  friends  with  lucas  is  completely  different  than  being  boyfriends.  sure  they’ve  done  a  lot  together  and  now  they’ve  slept  together  ,  which  was  mind  blowing  ,  but  vince  can’t  pretend  like  everything  is  easy.  “  what  do  you  want  me  to  do?  i’m  not  going  to  lie  and  say  this  shit  comes  naturally  to  me  ,  but  i  feel  like  if  i  talk  i’m  going  to  get  my  head  chewed  off.  ”  still  ,  memories  of  that  night  run  through  his  mind.  “  i  don’t  want  to  leave  ,  okay  ,  but  i  don’t  know  how  else  to  move  forward.  ”

when they broke things off, he thought, nothing ever lasts forever. that was just life but quickly he realized just how much of his life was her. it seemed like every thing he owned, every piece of clothing and every spot in town - were linked to her. features softened as she spoke, “ i wished i would’ve acted different back then, you know? “ it felt like they were almost talking in circles but it was good to get it out. after all the hours he had spent thinking about their last argument. how he yelled and how scared he was for the future in front of them. 

                                 the issue with rio , was that he never really knew when to stop . life was a joke , and nothing was every permanent . ghosting through a life lived recklessly . all detached and nonchalant , with an ego that rattled his bones . all drunk on pride , a smirk almost permanently embedded on his glimmering features . the life of a rock-star , a playboy , as if he hadn’t been born from ash and rot . childhood tarred with aching memories ; a trauma that lingered skin deep . dismissive as always , because he’s grown into his skin , now . made peace with all the hell endured and traded that life for something flashier . stitched carefully with chaos , tied together neatly just for him to quickly unravel .

he never understood it , what it was that attracted people to him . he’s never been the type to disguise himself as anything better . abrasive , the honest truth always heavy at his lips . how could anyone ever want to willingly immerse themselves in his shifting orbit ? the thought lingers , especially with them . perhaps it’s all due to them being cut from the same cloth . reputations suiting them well , two storms of people colliding into one another . 

“ have you read what they’ve said about us ? “ rio inquires , airy laughter woven with his words . “ y’know , with the way they string our names together , i’d begin to assume that we’re in love , “ teasing tone accentuated by the smirk worn proudly . a brow quirked , serpent tongue all too ready to throw sly remarks . “ you gonna admit it first , or me ? or are we gonna keep playing these mind games ? are you not tired , yet ? “    /   @lcvegrows

He parks his car in the parking lot outside of her dorm, lighting a joint while he waits for her to show up.

They’ve been doing this for awhile now, meeting in secret more or less. He’s pretty sure she’s trying to keep it from someone but he doesn’t know the details, opting not to look a gift horse in the mouth. She’s hot and he likes her, so he keeps coming back, regardless of how complicated her life seems to be and the different ways she has to manage her public image because of her career in modeling.

He sees her approaching and unlocks the car for her so she can slip into the passenger’s side. Blowing smoke, he offers her the joint. “Hey. I can’t tell if it’s resting bitch face or you’re upset about something. Penny for your thoughts?” Her brows are kind of furrowed and she’d gotten into the car hastily, like something’s on her mind.

life  had  been  weird  lately.  with  school ,  work ,  and  the  anonymous  threats  that  had  been  consistently  filling  her  inbox  for  weeks  there  was  almost  no  time  for  zelda  to  catch  her  breath.  when  she  was  with  elliot  time  seemed  to  slow  down  to  a  comfortable  pace ,  making  it  possible  for  her  to  catch  her  breath  and  re-center.  of  course  sneaking  around  wasn’t  ideal  but  with  her  family  and  her  job  it  was  better  for  him  if  people  didn’t  know  yet  ,  it  was  safer  that  way ;  for  both  of  them.  she  had  just  finished  deleting  another  creepy  borderline  criminal  message  from  her  phone  as  she  walked  out  to  meet  him ,  discomfort  clearly  written  all  over  her  face  from  how  he  greeted  her.  zelda  couldn’t  help  but  snort  at  the  craziness  of  it  all.  “  just  weird  shit  seems  to  always  happen  to  me , and  now  that  i’ve  finally  met  someone  who  makes  me  happy  things  would  start  getting  weird  again.  it’s  like  some  sick  karma  from  a  past  life.  ”  sighing  she  leans  over  the  center  console  to  greet  him  properly  ,  lithe  fingers  cupping  his  cheek  to  turn  his  lips  towards  hers  for  a  gentle  kiss.  “  i’m  officially making  it  your  job  to  get  me  out  of  my  head  about  this  shit  tonight.  no  more  bullshit.  ”
