There’s a moment of blindness as Bucky wakes up. He rolls around, trying to get the stupid sunshine out of his face. The thin blanket that barely does much to keep him warm, is a tangled mess around his body. Bucky let’s out a frustrated grunt as he squeezes his eyes shut and gives up trying to fight the sun and his sheets. He throws an arm over his eyes to bring some darkness back.
“Buck?” Your soft voice calls to him, and it’s enough to make some of Bucky’s frustrations melt away.
“Ungh,” he grunts in response. Not as graceful sounding as you.
“You okay, honey?” you ask. The way you endearingly call him ‘honey’ makes his body go warm, the frustrations being overridden by feelings of love for you.
“Stupid sun,” is all Bucky says. Your giggle fills his ears as you make your way towards him. Bucky feels you untangling his limbs from the sheets, and sitting beside him on the mattress. He feels your lips press against his forehead and he lets out a small, content sigh.
“I went out to the bakery early and got some coffee and pastries,” you say, running a hand through Bucky’s hair. Bucky opens his eyes to look at you, your body blocking the sun and shading his face. Your face is surrounded by a golden glow, wisps of your hair looking gold in the light. Beautiful.
“Mhm, should’ve woken me up.” Bucky’s voice is gravelly as he speaks. Typical of him when he wakes up.
“And take away your chance to have some good rest? No way.” You let out a small chuckle and a small smile breaks out onto Bucky’s face. You really did care for him and his sleep, and he loved that.
“If you keep running your hands through my hair like that, I think I might fall back asleep,” Bucky mumbles. Your hands leave his head and though he wants to bring them back to his hair and fall asleep again, he knows that he should get up. “What’s the time?” he asks.
You reach up to the small table beside the mattress, the sun goes into Bucky’s eyes again and he squeezes them shut.
“Almost ten,” you answer, glancing down at your phone. You place it back on the table and flop down onto the mattress, laying face down beside Bucky. He rolls over and wraps an arm around you, pulling you close to his chest.
You smell like coffee, and flowers, and Bucky feels like if he died right then and there, he wouldn’t mind as long as heaven smelled like you. You twist yourself in Bucky’s arms so that you’re facing him now.
“Hi,” you say quietly, a grin forming on your face as you scan Bucky’s features.
“Hey,” he replies softly. A soft smile forms on his face, his eyes flickering around and scanning your features as well.
You make the first move, leaning your head forward so that your lips could press against Bucky’s. He pulls away seconds later though.
“I have morning breath,” he whispers.
“I don’t care. I’m not gonna be sticking my tongue in your mouth,” you answer. The vulgarity of your words has him blushing a bit. You press your lips to his once more and this time he responds immediately, even rolling over so that you’re on your back and he’s on top of you, holding himself up with his forearms.
Your hands find their way to his hair, catching onto the ends and twirling them around your fingers. A small grunt comes out of Bucky when you tug lightly at his hair. He nibbles on your bottom lip and then begins to press small kisses on the corner of your lips to your cheek, then down your jaw and on to your neck. You tilt your head to give him easier access.
The two of you are just getting into it when your phone starts ringing loudly. Bucky stops.
“Ignore it,” you mumble. Your open your eyes and pull Bucky’s face towards yours in a heated wet kiss. The phone stops ringing, going into voicemail most likely. You think it’s over but then seconds later it starts ringing again.
He pulls away from you, his head hovering above yours and his icy blue eyes stare down at you.
“Why’d you stop,” you whine. He doesn’t say anything. Just gives you a knowing look. Seconds later the phone stops ringing, and Bucky lets out a breath. You begin to pull his head down towards yours once again when the ringing starts up again. Bucky pulls away completely this time. He rolls over to sitting position beside you.
“You should get that,” he says quietly. You’re annoyed, and it’s visible on your face. Bucky thinks it’s cute but he also knows that if someone was calling three times in a row, it must’ve been important. There was no way in hell he was going to keep kissing you despite how much you wanted him to keep going. You reach over to your phone and your eyes widen as you see who’s calling.
“Fuck,” you curse. “It’s my boss.” You grab the phone and answer the call, standing up quickly and running a hand through your hair. “Hi, so sorry. My phone was on the other side of the room and I was in the middle of making some food,” you lie easily. You make a face at Bucky and swiftly move into the small hallway to continue your talk.
Bucky lets out a small chuckle that was building up inside him. He felt giddy and warm all over, and it wasn’t the sun shining on him that made him feel that way.
“God, I fucking love you,” he mumbles quietly so only he can hear himself.
