A man without ambition is a dead man walking (part2)
(A Ganondorf time travel, redemtion promt.)
Alright i have so much brainrot about this AU, so i wanna expand on it.
Lets start with Fi and Ganondorf.
Now in my previous post i said that the Gerudo king lost his fire after being confronted about the inevitability to defy his fate. Which is partially true. But Ganon is such a stubborn man, I am convinced it would not be enough to break him.
But Fi actually confronted him with a really important question.
"Why do you want all this power?"
And more importantly
"If you finally had all this power, what would you do with it?"
In my opinion these two questions would actually stump him if he´d stop and this about the answer. Good that he has all the time in the world and no goal to distract him.
But why would these questions stump him? Because i believe he does not have a satisfying answer. Not one that would satisfy Fi and certainly not one that would satisfy him.
To me Ganon (at least in OOT and WW) fits the quote of the Joker: "I am a dog chasing a bone, I would not know what to do with it if a had it."
Ganon is always chasing power (triforce, secret stones, hyrules throne), but does he know what to do after he gets it? Ganondorf is a man that puts a lot of energy into reaching a lofty goal. In fact he thrives on the challenge. He likes the plotting, scheming and deceiving, the resistance and fight.
But would he enjoy the goal itself?
Sure there would be short term gratification. In the end thou he´d be bored, listless even depressed. That's kind of tragic, isn't it.
All of his focus and energy goes into archiving the impossible, that there would be nothing left once he has it.
Even in the wind waker. Lets assume he got his wish. Hyrule is back and it belongs to him. Now what? He is still all alone. His people are gone, his culture drowned, the land is ...empty. Yes the volk on the islands are there, but there not the people of hyrule. There the people of the great sea, and just because the water is gone doesn´t mean that changes. They don't know the traditions of old, the way people used to live. He´d still be the only one left. An ancient king, ruling an ancient land on an empty throne.
And once Ganon understands that? That would be the final nail in the coffin. The end of his ambitions, the end of his goals, the final straw that broke the kings back.
Now? He´s a listless shadow of his former self. Uncaring about the memories that drag him under from time to time, barely reacting to Fi´s attempts at conversation. A ghost that longs for nothingness and is granted the endless torture of still being.
What a cruel fate of the gods, it muses without any fire to keep the thought alive.
Until one memory, where it can feel the burning rays of the sun, the warm sandy grains under its feet and.... music. Long forgotten drum beats, flutes joining the rhythms, rattles supporting it and voices tying everything together. He breathes is the hot air and keeps it in his lungs to warm his cold heart.
When he opens his eyes, he looks at Fi´s curious gaze, opens his mouth and tells her about the dessert and the warriors who lived in it.
