I feel like Carl would go "oh no, there's two of them" about Jack and Grace bc both get hyperfixated on something and forget to take care of themselves

Well then I shall provide what I can >:] Above are some old doodles that were supposed to be a part or a larger post. A lot of this info takes place in my main au tho -w-‘

So the biggest thing for me is that I see them as a “Destined to fail in every timeline except one” duo. I just live for the idea of a “couple” who know they can never last and yet still go for it either way. Allowing themselves to be selfish and irrational just this once. And honestly, for most universes, the reason I see them failing is just outside factors (aka one of them dies). In my main au Jack dies in the explosion. Although that definitely doesn’t mean there weren’t times they failed due to interpersonal differences.

Other shorter ideas:

- They start off as strictly friends, but after a one night fling their feelings quickly got very complicated. Carl being sure he’s attracted to Jack, and Jack extremely confused on how he feels for Carl. All he knows is he wants to stay at his side.

- The two often sit or lay down together and talk about their possible future. Neither of them truly believe they’ll ever be able to live these plans out, but they like to pretend in the moment.

- Jack, Carl, and Grace are definitely a trio. They all get along well together so Grace doesn’t ever seem like the third wheel, but when Jack/Carl argue he definitely does give ‘child of divorce’ vibes.

- Oh that’s right, these two bicker a lot. It’s never serious and typically only ever in public do they get this way. It’s sorta just become how they bond.

- Besides Ava and Simon of course, Carl is the only person who knows about Jack’s involvement with Eden.

- Simon actually sent his pennant with the seed back to earth specifically for Carl to keep. He knew Jack’s own pennant from Eden was long gone (along with any of his stuff in general), so this was the last thing Carl could have to remember him. Carl gets to plant it and basically makes a mini memorial for Jack.

I’m not surprised this is a kinda popular pairing. They make sense together truly! I can see so many interpretations of them together, here’s what I personally thought of:

For some reason they give off short time besties as kids before Yancy suddenly vanishes. Then they just happen to cross paths again whenever Yancy hears word of a great get-away-driver. Only for them to be separated again once Yancy gets arrested and Driver goes on the run. Meeting up one last time (after Yancy’s release), and finally, able to stay at each other’s side for good.

I imagine they like just sitting in any forested areas and just enjoying the view and tranquility of it. Even if it always makes them wonder, “How did we get here?” They obviously know the answer, but sometimes it feels unbelievable.
