I was the fastest click in the west at @castielbigbang to claim this fic and I had no clue it was Xev3n!! One of the fun things about bangs. I was all over this fic even before reading it because of the period piece of it all, the vintage gothic vibes, the grey morality... I had a clear vision in mind of the art style I wanted to go with for this one, which was sort of a noir graphics novel style set in the 1940s that pairs black and white figures and a watercolor background. For the banner and the scene piece I also went with torn paper on top of the background.

The ensemble piece took foreveeeerrr I am many things but not a fast artist, at least for now. No spoilers for the fic, but once you read it you'll understand the choice of colors and the events. Cas' blue near Dean is also a choice that has to do with the fic, which you'll probably guess why in the next piece.

And here it is 🌶️ I actually had an initial idea of making this waaaay more sketchy, were the two of them would be very small in the dark lit room. But then Xev3n found the perfect reference for Cas (thank you Misha for making faces in public) so I had to make this a full on, spared no expenses piece.

I refuse to believe this man can sing or dance or draw. The idea of Castiel, Angel of the Lord, loving God's creations but being unable to create himself is very poetic

Like, the idea of Cas having aphantasia, unable to fully visualize anything in his head and therefore unable to translate anything he tries to imagine into a creative field

He only mimics, copies, memorizes and adapts, but never able to make something original or his own thing. Even his hand writing is a carbon copy of how the Winchesters' write

His own blade and how he wields it is from training with his siblings. Nothing is truly his own

And yet he continues to love and admire the creative power of humans. He feels no jealously, only admiration
