Updated Booklet/Inlay
As these are just screenshots, they do not reflect the actual quality of the final booklet/inlay. However, these are just to show that I had to re-arrange my booklet and inlay so that it would print correctly.

CD Booklet/Inlay Edit
I edited the CD inlay and booklet as I printed the booklet and the images did not line up correctly. This was fixed by moving the gradient from one slot to another so that everything would line up correctly. I also cropped the key image for the inlay to just be a section of the red background. That way, when opened, the background behind the CD would be a bold red rather than the same image.

I re-edited the video to cut down a few unneeded seconds towards the end. I also uploaded it to Vimeo as this is what is requested in the brief. I had already uploaded to YouTube but just wanted to be safe and sure when it came to final marking.

Final Images
Here are the final 5 images - consisting of the Key Image and four supporting images.
Live - Logo
Logo
To create the logo, I first sketched the design onto paper as to visualise what I wanted to achieve as a final product. This also meant that it was much easier for me to draw the design onto Illustrator. I decided to go for a rose, as this was the key idea for my Jazz duo to focus on. Once sketched, I scanned the image in and began working on it on Illustrator.Â
I used the Pen tool to trace around the components of the sketch, making sure to curve the lines when needed so the final logo would look as smooth as possible. This was quite easy as it just meant clicking onto the end of the line and curving the line as desired before continuing with the drawing.
I drew the leaves separately so that they could be added on the layer below - if added to the layer above, the leaves would keep covering the rose so having them below worked as if they were behind the rose bud.
After finishing the pen tool and filling the correct colours, I used a spiral tool to create the swirl of the petals at the top of the bud. I then made sure the outline was white instead of black as to look less âaggressiveâ and thick, and more feminine.Â
I was pleased with how the logo looks, as it matches up to the images I have in my series.

Editing Images
After shooting and looking at my images, I wanted the red of the background to really âpopâ so as to catch peopleâs attention and also to work alongside the alluring, slightly sexy empowered feel I was going for. Red is a powerful colour, and according to a website I found dedicated to colour meanings (http://www.empower-yourself-with-color-psychology.com/color-red.html) red is associated with intimacy, is strong-willed and confidence giving, and promotes determination - which is perfect for Two Halves.
My first concern was tidying up the modelsâ skin - getting rid of any obvious spots/scars/blemishes without airbrushing ridiculously. As the duo stand for female empowerment, it meant a lot that they could look as natural as possible while still looking presentable and fierce. I did this by using the Heal tool on Lightroom as this worked really well in keeping the colour matched nicely.
I then began playing with the levels, and mostly focused on the Highlights, as well as the Whites and Blacks level. I also upped the Clarity to make sure the images looked clear and crisp.
I didnât want the images to look too dark and wanted the red to be the primary colour focus, so used the Hue/Saturation/Luminance tool to focus on the Red sliders individually.
Once this was done, I was quite pleased with the result, as the colours were very bold and bright, which was exactly what I was going for. I then copied the exact edits from one picture to another in order to keep each image as uniform as possible. After this, I only had to edit each image slightly to ensure that everything looked clear and didnât look too washed out/bright/dark.
On the left is the image before edit, and on the right is the final edited image. I am really pleased with these as it is exactly what I envisioned from the duo and I feel like each image portrays confident, bold young women.

Live - Music Credits
Music Credits
When it came to finding music for my 30 second movie piece, I ensured to find stock music so as to give a feel to my duo - rather than using existing, well-known songs. After looking at various websites and listening to the trial pieces of music, I found something that matched perfectly for my duo.Â
Entitled âRomanticâ, it was a smooth Jazz piece that would give off a good aura of sexy, empowered females. In order to use the music for free, all I need to do is credit the website where I downloaded it from. I will be doing this when I upload my video to YouTube to be marked. The description I will post is as follows:
âTwo Halvesâ - A preview of the enchanting new Jazz duo about to smash into the music circuit. Music is from http://www.bensound.com used for educational purposes only to enhance the video.
Live - 50 Word Summary
50 Word Summary
âTwo Halvesâ are an exciting new Jazz-Swing duo, focusing on female empowerment. Consisting of two personalities - bold and sassy - their music brings a fresh face and classy attitude to the male dominated genre. âTwo Halvesâaim to be role models to young adult women through equality, respect and being themselves.
Their target audience is for women aged between 20-30, with interests in Jazz music, swing music and dance, Â as well as feminism and equality. Those who would have low confidence/self esteem are also targeted as a secondary audience, as the duo aim to bring empowerment to these women.

CD Sketches Update
Further to the re-read of the brief, I have understood that the final outcome is for 5 images (including the key image). I have sketched for a total of 8 images. I will now work on cutting down the sketches and deciding what I want for my key image - as this image will be running across the social media, poster, and CD cover.
Live - CD Measurements
CD Measurements
I have found via another student a website that tells the exact measurements for the CD booklet. I will be able to input these into InDesign and also to keep in mind when shooting so as nothing will get cropped out of images.

FMP - Printing
Printing
To print my images, I first had to convert them for CMYK so that the correct colours would be printed on the paper. Screens are set up for RGB, whereas paper is set up for CMYK.Â
It was quite simple to convert these images once I got the hang of it. I ended up saving two versions of the layout, an RGB one for screen - and also for online hand-in purposes - and a CMYK one. I then saved this as a .pdf to print.Â
I used Mixam to print my work, having heard great feedback from them and also receiving proof copies so that I could view how my work would turn out. It allowed me to ensure all the pages were in the correct place.
I made sure to check three times before finalising the prints. I ordered two copies so that I would have enough before hand in, but will definitely be ordering some more after I see how the first versions come out.
