"Maybe Jean is onto something. Does it drive you crazy? Jamie doesn’t love it.”

"You sound bitter. Are you bitter?”

"Give or take a few years. We can just say I was the first.”

"It technically brings them back. It was pretty revolutionary before the Krakoan thing.”

“Scurvy?” Layla tosses out. “That seems like a definite drawback. Otherwise, you’re making an excellent case for piracy.” 

“I’m not totally sure it sounds like it would be cool. I’m not religious. Never have been. I’m also pretty sure I couldn’t tell one god from another unless it was, like, Thor or Loki. Something about some big entity watching you has never sat well with me. To each their own, I guess.”

“I spent my life knowing everything. Or, just about. This whole waiting to see how it unfolds thing is new to me.” Honestly, Layla kind of hates it.

“Yeah, I get that.” Layla’s hopped around. She had come from the future at a relatively young age, bringing with her a shit ton of knowledge that gave her a leg up in the game. “People who don’t time travel don’t get how messy it is all the time.”

“If you’re looking for a war cry, you’re not going to get one from me.” Layla’s never been the type. She’s not upper echelon or anything like that. Right now, she’s not even rostered. She’s just raising Davey while Jamie works with X-Factor. “Go find Emma Frost or Scott Summers. Hell, they might even be together. That’d make your life easier.”

“You may want to get your gut checked out ‘cause it sounds like it’s lying to you.” Layla scoffs. “Even our baddies are behaving now. Harm no man, y’know? We’re just looking out for ourselves as well.”

“Harsh. People are definitely going to whine at you, just so you know. You have one of those faces.”

“You’ve got a God behind you? That’s way different than anything I do.” Layla’s pretty sure she’s never met a god before. She’s had near omnipotence ( that’s exaggerated ) and can bring people back from the dead, but she’s no god herself. “Trippy.”

She’s a know it all and always has been. “I can answer it myself. I just wanted to see if you knew.”

“I happen to have a very good memory, but I’ll do my best to blot it out.” It’s how she knows so much. “I haven’t seen you in what feels like ten years, Cyclops. Have you seen Jamie recently?”

“You’re one of the first people I’ve talked to who feel that way. Everyone else is so up in arms about the entire thing.”

“Training is one thing. Blind stabbing is another. I have a feeling that right now we’re leaning towards the former. Correct me if I’m wrong.” Layla shrugs. She’s very rarely wrong. “He’s always adorable, so you’re not wrong. I’m not sure how Jamie would feel about raising a mini pirate. We may have to sell him on it.”
