     The Ghana U-17 Women’s team, the black maidens  kicked start their 2018 FIFA  world cup campaign on a bright note after beating the host Uruguay in a five goal to nothing encounter that took the maidens top of the Group A table. The  black maidens however went ahead to win all games in the group stage to finish first on the table.They however became the first team from Africa to have won all matches at the group stage at of the U-17 women’s   

    The head coach of the Ghana national men’s team, the black stars, Akwesi Appiah has extended an invitation to the Ayew brothers after excluding the brothers from his squad after a drawn game with Congo at the Ohene Gyan sports stadium in Kumasi but failed to honour an invitation to play the return encounter in Congo in a 2018 FIFA world cup qualifier blaming stomach ache as their reason, the stars eventually won by five goals to one.

Ever since then, the Ayew brothers have been overlooked by head coach Akwesi Appiah in subsequent call-ups to the national team.
