    âAlright, Iâll bite. What information can you offer me?â
Not that she particularly trusts the man. Between his speech and appearance she can only assume heâs shifty (in more than one way), but what could it hurt? She could at least figure out what kind of information he was brokering before making a decision of whether or not to completely brush him off.

[[ HEADCANON 004 || Factions ]]
Without a doubt, Penelope fully supports the Minutemen. She likes everything they stand for, thinks that they bring some morals to the very chaotic Commonwealth, and appreciates their team mentality. When given the position of General she gets a little off-put (like...she barely knows these people? Why would they let her lead them??) but eventually does take the job very seriously. Next to finding Shaun, she spends a lot of her time doing Minutemen missions.
Penelope does not support the Brotherhood and really dislikes them. In a world full of Raiders, gunners, slavers, thieves and otherwise, theyâre really worried about ghouls and synths? She finds them to be morally corrupt and is enemies with them.
She does like the Railroad, but is very conflicted considering Shaunâs involvement with The Institute. She doesnât make a decision until the end about who she will side with, and even then itâs so 50/50 that it could go either way.
[[ HEADCANON 003 || Weapons ]]
Penelopeâs weapons of choice are scoped rifles and swords.
She is most often seen with a Glow Sighted Scoped Pipe Bolt Action Rifle (using .50 rounds) and a Revolutionary Sword (with Stun Pack). Penelope prefers long distance fighting, but (depending on the area) will default to the Revolutionary Sword.
For bullet-shortage emergencies, Penelope also keeps a .10mm Pistol as backup.

[[ HEADCANON 002 || Death ]]
Despite her rather blank and emotionless exterior, Penelope is very afraid of death and dying.
Her worry was minor until Nate was shot dead right in front of her, quickly escalating her inner fear (and blood pressure). Though she doesnât act or comment on it often, seeing dead bodies (especially those that she killed) does bother her and more times than not makes her physically sick.
Unless sheâs in desperate need of supplies, she wonât usually pick up the deceased possessions (but is willing to let her companions do it - so selfish).
[[ HEADCANON 001 || The Law ]]
For most of her life, Penelope had an interest in law. Her father being a defense attorney and her mother being a superior court judge, it was naturally that she would follow in their footsteps. From the day she entered the fifth grade, her parents had already worked to fuel, fund and instruct her in the realms of the legal system. By the time she entered high school, she already had a path laid out for her and a college picked out.
Penelope did receive her degree on time and worked as a state appointed prosecutor for six years (thanks to her parentâs networking). When Nate returned home from the war, Penelope quit her job and took on the role of a receptionist - trying to ensure that she had more time at home with him as he settled back into civilian life.
Not surprisingly, Penelope is Lawful Good. She finds it hard morally to steal, commit forgery, kill or break into buildings/computers - but does so when she absolutely has to.

[[ DAKOTA CARTWRIGHT || @radiium || starter call ]]
The Glowing Sea was by far Penelopeâs least favorite place in the current Commonwealth. The haze of radiation made it hard for her to make sense of her location, and the harsh burn that accompanied every intake of air made each step all the more difficult. But she would do it for her baby, for Shaun, for the sole reason for her continuing to go on - because that was what a mother did for their child.
With the setting sun on her heels, it was clear she would have to find somewhere to stay for the night. Fighting radiated beasts in daylight was hard enough - and she definitely didnât need to double up on her handicaps. Her feet pulled her towards the ancient plane crash, feeling heavier with each progressive thought of rest. Heels nearly dragging against the dusty ground, she moved in closer to the door, pausing only at the small glitter of light coming from within.
(For how vast the Commonwealth was, and how much lower the current population was, it seemed like everywhere was inhabited by someone.)
Picking up a pebble she tossed the stone against the door with force, staying still to wait and listen. The last thing she needed was to enter the plane only to be tricked, trapped or ambushed. For good measure, she pulls out her pistol, prepping it at her side just in case.

    âHey. Are you the...person Iâm supposed to meet?â
Penelope was still getting used to the terms - tourist, dead drop and something about a geiger counter - they werenât hard but with everything else she was learning, they just werenât sticking. At least she could say she was doing her best, whatever that was worth out here. Effort didnât matter much so much as precision and survival, she had noticed.
    âSorry, what I meant to say is...do you have a geiger counter being fixed?â
[[ GIL ALEXANDER || @deepseasaint || starter call ]]
Finally, Penelope had been overwhelmed.
Despite all her struggles and all her pursuits, she had finally lost. Dead radscorpions beside her, she could feel her waking self fading, darkness pulling over and numbness clinging to cooling skin. She had been so close - Shaun was just within reach and now it was all for nothing. Nate had died and yet she had wasted her chance, left to bleed for a stupid reckless decision. But the tormenting thoughts wouldnât last - her thoughts fading along with her consciousness, allowing the supposed touch of death overcome her.
In what felt like seconds her eyes were once again opened, a slow flutter allowing her vision to adjust. This wasnât where she had fainted - the open landscape now replaced by a darkened cave atmosphere, radiated air replaced with a dank, dirty scent. Groaning, she moved to prop herself up, squinting in a vain attempt to adapt her vision. Someone must have found her, though who was where the question got dangerous.
    âIs anyone there?â She called out with a hoarse voice, the question carrying on rounded walls.

[[ CALEB ITUM || @adiick ]]
    âStay down,â she pulls herself to the ground, putting her hand out to him to further her point. Battle was nothing Penelope had ever wanted to be apart of, but now that she was and would be, she was going to do her best to do it as safely as possible - and that extended out to Caleb.
With the boom of gunfire and the collective group shouting, it was clear that they were outnumbered. She hadnât expected them to be spotted so soon - if they made it out of this, she would ensure the same mistake wasnât made again. As spontaneous as the future had revealed itself to be, planning had managed to keep her head on her shoulders this far.
    âWe need to find a way to get them off of us. If we can sneak down to the bottom floor, we might be able to enter through the loading docks.â
  âI donât know,â he snaps, and that alone isnât enough â not for Nate. A strange, numbing sensation and, despite all his pain, he forces himself to look. Their first home. Their first everything; and now, their final remnant. Of what was, what could have beenâŚAnd never once does he wonder, dare to think, that they would have been better to have died back there
        â BACK THEN.
  We do, we do have coming in confirmed reports of nuclear detonation.
  A flare in his temper that drops, cooling when he speaks to her next. Palm splays and presses against the splintered, peeling floor. It isnât her â in this as much as he, but thereâs not another soul around to burden with what already is too heavy to carry alone.
  âI donât know, but weâŚWeâll have to start somewhere.â
  Sanctuary, in all its connotation, is dead. No more a sanctuary now than what it once was, in all its prime and glory; Nateâs picket-fence lifeâŚHis dream. He doesnât know who to blame more ⌠VAULT-TEC, the company he entrusted his familyâs safety in. How foolish of him, he thinks; he said yes, and yet â never once does he does dareâŚ
  and even in it, Nate looks for something. For some bit of hope, for some clue.
  âCodsworth, didâŚDidnât he mentionâŚPeople? A town?â Somewhere south of here, if he remembers right â had picked out the exchange between mum and servant. âSomething aboutâŚAbout locals; before he came back here, he said the locals treated himâŚâ
     Point made, Nate shifts to rise. Heâs been caged in this place â in this home, not home for too long. All day is all of a day his son is still out there, still needing his father to save him. And yet, here he sits still, coddled by the touch of the boyâs loving mother.
  âWe have to find people. Thatâs the only way: we have to make contact. You know, find help.â
    âI can only imagine what kind of help this place has to offer,â what with their first introduction into futuresque manners. If people just came and shot innocents to take a baby... But she doesnât push the negative comment further - they had enough to worry about without acting cynical. Nate was shot, their baby was taken, and if they ever hoped to see him again, they would need a little hope.
    âHe did mention a city. Concord,â her eyes follow Nate as he rises, a small sigh paired with the look, âwe canât go now - we need to rest. You need to rest. Thereâs no way to know whatâs out there and...it would be too dangerous.
    We canât find Shaun if weâre dead.â
She extends her hand, gesturing for him to come back down to her. Nate had always been a get-up-and-go kind of guy, which had seemed to only increase after his time in the military, so she canât be surprised that heâs so eager. That was his son out there - a fact that only seemed to double his already natural initiative.
    âYouâre still hurt. Sit down. We can leave as soon as the sun rises.â
