Today was a good day: finally got the degree, salary was out, XH won 2 MAMA awards, and dinner was great!

POLICE ARE USING TEARGAS AND WATER CANNONS AGAINST PEACEFUL, UNARMED PROTESTERS.

THIS IS WHAT THEY ARE DOING TO US. I’M FUCKING ANGRY THAT I CAN ONLY SIT HERE AND UPDATE SHIT.

We are unarmed. We have only our umbrellas.

A monk in the protest literally prayed and begged the police to stop. 

Dozens of people are injured from the water cannon.

My friends are freaking there. And I’ve lost contact with them. The last text I sent was to go to our campus because it is safer there.

I’m so angry. Dear international followers, please acknowledge and please boost this post.

This began because the Future Forward Party, a political group pushing for democratic reform, was forcefully disbanded by the unjust court.

Currently, two protesters face life imprisonment and >50 more have been arrested since the start of these protests.

This is what has been happening since early 2020. The situation is so bad that all the people have is their fellow citizens. The media and the authority are corrupted.

This is happening in a university campus.

Everything is in chaos right now although the leaders of the protest have said that the protest was cancelled and everyone should rush home or to a safe place. Still, police are trying to arrest those participated in this evening’s event.

I may or may not update this thread afterward because 1) I’m shaking with anger and 2) sensory overload and anxiety are driving me insane and I need some rest. I’m ashamed of myself for just being here at home whilst others are fighting. I’m sorry. This is the best I could do.

But I’m going to update the situation (in general) tomorrow [oct 17, 2020] morning. Still, please spread the news. Please let the world know about this fcked up situation.

Apparently the news about the police at the campus is fake. Chulalongkorn University is still safe.

However, protesters are still heading home but we don’t know whether everyone is going to be safe or not.

I didn’t update anything here although I went to bed at almost midnight last night but here’s what has happened after my last update.

15 were injured in total; 11 citizens and 4 officers.

FreeYOUTH’s Twitter admin has been arrested whilst doing a live broadcast. I have seen no update regarding their safety yet.

An ambulance was blocked by the police and the barricade on their way to the hospital.

King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, operated by The Thai Red Cross Society, acted against Red Cross law regarding Unity;  There can only be one Red Cross or one Red Crescent Society in any one country. It must be open to all. It must carry on its humanitarian work throughout its territory. – the hospital didn’t provide any help for protesters injured by the officers, instead, they welcomed the police and let them use the hospital building as a stronghold.

United Front of Thammasat and Demonstration has declared another protest today (Oct 17) at 16:00, UTC+7, in the name of the people – not just any particular leaders or activists. Since last night’s protest break up makes it clear that the authority and the government are against their own people who only want democracy, by using brutality and violence in order to break up the protest.

I will post further updates on today’s upcoming protest either on this thread or a new post. I’m not sure if I could really post it in real time like yesterday, though. But I will try my best to summarize and update.

Day 34/100 of productivity · 10/9/20

I still didn't quite as much work done today as I planned to. I know this week I've been in a slump, and next week will be better.

since i've tried pretty much EVERY SINGLE ONE of those "avoid paywall" hacks for journalism sites and few to none have worked, here's one that does:

this is a link to a chrome extension called Bypass Paywall. i have no idea how it works because i know nothing about coding etc, BUT the important thing is that it definitely works, every time, without fail. it is not on the chrome web app store, so don't go looking for it there, but basically what you do is:

download the file for the extension

extract all the files (it's a .zip)

go into chrome://extensions and hit "developer mode" in the right hand corner

drag the unzipped folder into the browser screen, and click the extension once it pops up in the area to the right of the search bar

look through the websites that the extension offers, uncheck any websites that you don't care to use, add any other websites in "custom" if you want access to paywalled journalism sites that are not offered in the list already

and there you have it! free journalism!
