shitty witch tip #233
tie a bunch of incense sticks to a firework to create a spiritual nuke
Breaking Curses
Evaluate
The first step in curse-breaking should always be a thorough evaluation of your situation. Ask yourself the following questions.
Do you know for certain that you’ve been cursed?
If not, what makes you suspect that you’ve been cursed?
If yes, do you know who cursed you? The more information you can gather on who cursed you, how they did it and why the better off you’ll be.
What kinds of effects is the curse having? Is it affecting only you or are others also experiencing the effects?
These questions can help you determine the best plan when trying to break a curse. The more you know about the curse itself the more you can tailor your solution to it. It’s also important at the point to make sure that you’ve really been cursed. Could it just be bad luck or poor decision-making? Is there someone who would actually want to curse you? The following steps won’t help you much if your problem isn’t caused by a curse so always make sure you’re addressing the real cause of a problem!
Spell Reflection When trying to break any curse I always try spell reflecting first. Reflecting spells is a method of sending the magic back to the caster, leaving your life curse-free. This can be a very effective method BUT it doesn’t work on every curse. If you’re dealing with an experienced spell caster they may have included safeguards to prevent the magic from rebounding on them. It’s a good idea to evaluate in the days after trying your spell reflection to determine whether it worked or if you need to move on to the next step.
If your spell reflection does work then skip down to After You’ve Broken the Curse
More on Spell Reflection here.
Simple Spell Breakers
There are many ways to break curses and some of them are fairly quick rituals. Try one or two of these to see if the curse will lift easily.
Let a source of living water carry it away. Take yourself to a natural source of water like a river, lake, or ocean and get in.
Burn a bay leaf at dawn and again at sunset. Allow the smoke to waft over you and when the leaves have finished smoldering scatter them in the wind.
Use selenite to cleanse your energy field and break the hold that the curse has on you
Take a bath with Epsom salt and hex breaking herbs (bay leaves, fennel, jasmine, and nettles are all common choices)
Clean your house with water infused with hex breaking herbs. Mop the floors, clean the walls, wash the doors and windows, and when you’re finished throw the mop water out the back door.
Brute Force
If the curse won’t be reflected and it’s resisting simpler methods of curse breaking it’s time to just break it with the Brute Force Curse Breaker.
After You’ve Broken the Curse
Once the curse has been broken you’ll need to do some magickal housekeeping to remove any lingering energy or effects. The first step is to thoroughly cleanse yourself, your home, and anyone else who has been affected by the curse. Set upwards and protective enchantments around yourself and your home to block future curses. These measures should be regularly updated and refreshed as long as you are in a situation that may incite another curse.
If The Curse Doesn’t Break
If you can’t break the curse it’s due to one of two reasons.
You were never cursed in the first place.
People don’t evaluate the situation properly and assume they’ve been cursed when in reality it’s just life nipping at them a little harder than usual. Pull yourself together and try to find the root source of your problems, have you made some bad decisions? Are you neglecting responsibilities? Figure out what’s actually going on and FIX IT!
You’ve cursed yourself
This is less likely but not entirely unheard of. Often when bad things start happening people will jump to conclusions and assume they’ve been cursed but then they spend so much time worrying and freaking out about it that they actually end up cursing themselves with all of that gross nervous energy. The solution to this one is to just cut it out! Relax. Take a chill pill. As soon as you can stop giving the curse all of your attention and energy it will disappear!
If you’ve got confirmation that you’ve been cursed and have tried all of the methods I’ve outlined here and you STILL can’t get rid of a curse then it’s time to consult with someone who has more experience in these matters.
Hey there! I was wondering if you have an tips or suggestions on how to deal with nightmares? I'm a bit at a lost of what to do next since medicine doesn't really do much of anything to help.
Sure! Here’s some general tips
Drink sleepytime/chamomile tea. At the very least, it’ll help soothe you before bed.
Take a bath, relax your body and mind.
Doodle/color as a way to get ready for bed.
Nightlights can help to soothe you if you wake up from one.
There’s no shame in having a comfort blanket/stuffed animal(s).
Take deep breaths while trying to sleep.
I honestly find crystals really soothing (quartz, amethyst, rose quartz) and will hold them in my hand or place under my pillow.
I also really like making herb sachets (lavender and rose
After a nightmare happens:
Sit up to break free from the nightmare.
Write it down if it helps you process the nightmare and differentiate between reality and dream.
Focus on your surroundings, name them if you need to.
Drink a glass of water.
Readjust your blankets, try to settle back down.
If you really can’t sleep - do a gentle activity to calm back down.
There’s also a lot of witchy content out there: #dream magic, #anti-nightmare/nightmare __ (sigil, magic, spell, sachet, etc.)
Second sigil~✨Feel free to use as needed!🖤

This is a sigil I created: “Banish Nightmares” You can draw this on a pillow, blanket, or bed post to get rid of nightmares.
To Banish Nightmares and Sleep Disturbances
You will need:
A drinking glass half-filled with tap water
Timing:
Just before bedtime
The spell:
Place a glass half-filled with water near your bedside.
Swirl it five times counterclockwise, taking care not to spill any and saying, “Nightmares, bad dreams, and feelings of dread, enter this glass and be held here instead.”
In the morning as soon as you wake up, whether or not you had a nightmare, pour the water down the drain.
Rinse out the glass and leave it in the bedroom ready to be filled before sleep the next night.

write down what you want to manifest on a piece of paper and draw a sigil if you want
then have your cup of water placed on top of the note with the intent of manifesting it
let it sit for the whole night, then drink it the first thing in the morning as you visualize or repeat in your mind that you’re manifesting your wish

Devotional Walks 📿🍃
Right now for many of us, walking outside is one of the few things that we are allowed to do outside of our homes (justifiably - stay safe, stay home, please 💚). Because of this, I thought it would be a great time to write about one of my favorite devotional activities: walking!
Here are some things I have done to make a simple activity into a sacred one:
Cleansing ✨ : If you plan on doing an outdoor ritual, before you head out for your walk, cleanse yourself. As a Hellenic witch, for me this could be as simple as washing my hands with khernips. Alternatively, if you're walking because you feel pent up with stagnant indoor energy, visualize the wind, rain, or even snow as cleansing you as you walk, blowing or washing it away. If you walk by a sanitary body of water, stop to rinse your hands or feet, or even a crystal.
Prayer 🙏 : If you have some, bring prayer beads in your jacket pocket, and work them as you go. Silently repeating a short prayer as you walk is great with or without them. You can bring a notebook with you, stop at a park bench, and write your deity a letter. Or snap a photo on your phone, print it out, and include it in your devotional journal. Even just tell them things you saw that made you think of them, or whatever else is on your mind!
Offerings 🎁 : Firstly, the walk itself could be considered an offering, if you dedicate it to a deity! (Especially for a travel deity such as Hermes.) However, it is nice sometimes to bring something more. This could be as simple as a bottle of water or juice to pour out as a libation someplace secluded, or something more elaborate, like bringing a small bag of barley to sprinkle at crossroads you pass in honor of Hekate. Fruit is a great offering, and can be enjoyed by local fauna as well. Be creative - just make sure you don't offer anything that will damage the Earth or animals, and don't litter! Another free idea is to bring a bag with you, and pick up any garbage you may find. (Just be careful - garden gloves are helpful for this.) Finally, you can also pick up a trinket of your walk, such as a rock or feather, and bring it home as an offering for your altar.
Location 🌎 : Depending on what you have access to, you can choose the location of your walk to correspond to a particular deity. Walk along a beach in honor of Aphrodite, through a flower garden to honor Persephone and the nymphs, through the woods for Artemis. I love to walk the river trail by my home in honor of Hekate, especially at night, considering it is a very liminal space, both natural and urban, land and sea and sky. However, if you have few options, anywhere you can walk is just fine! You'll be surprised what you might see, even in the heart of a city. No matter where you walk, prioritize your safety. The Gods would want you to, I think :)
Timing ⏰ : Walk before a ritual and treat it as your procession. Walk in the morning to think on your intentions for the day. Walk before bed to bring good dreams, since walking at dusk helps your circadian rhythm and will conk you right out. Do a quick walk on your lunchbreak, bringing a piece of your food along to offer to the Gods. Honestly... walk anytime!
These are just my ideas. I'm sure there are tons more! Since I'm of a Hellenic path, my examples are informed by this, but really these tips would work for any path. Just stay safe, and hit the road 👣
