was thinking about bodyguard au this morning and,,,,
what if I think really hard about them early in their relationship and they’re snuggling. what if I think Really hard about scar coming over to grian’s apartment after a patrol and knocking shyly on her window. he didn’t give her any kind of heads up that he was coming over, just dropped by unexpectedly. and grian happens to be awake because she’s doing work, glasses on, hair thrown up so it’s out of her face
she hears the knock on her window and gets up, confused to see him but lets him in, “what’re you doing here? it’s late.”
“hope you don’t mind the little drop in. I happened to be passing by and well, no harm in paying my favorite person in the whole world a little midnight visit.” scar gives her this bashful little smile and grian hates how easily he makes her heart stutter. she shuts the window before walking back over to her bed and sitting down, scar shrugging his boots and weapons off, laying them on the ground
he goes to sit in the chair at the desk first but then grian is looking at him, scrunching her nose in disapproval, “you’re too far away.”
and scar just chuckles at her before walking over to her bed and crawling in beside her as grian sets her laptop in her lap. she easily leans against him, body melting into him and relaxing and scar sets his chin on her shoulder, pressing soft little kisses to her neck before sighing quietly, watching her type away. he holds her close as she asks how patrol went, how his day has been, and when his stomach growls grian laughs, ushering them to the kitchen
scar has free reign of her kitchen and she tells him he can make or do whatever he wants, says there’s still leftovers from their dinner the night before. and as scar is heating it up, grian comes up from behind, wrapping her arms around his waist and pressing her head in between his shoulders, kissing that spot. scar covers her hands with his. “thanks for letting me in, I know it’s late.”
grian scoffs, “like I was going to let you sit out there in the cold. you know you always have a h—” home is what she almost says. she turns red. “a-a place here. you’re always welcome.”
and scar softens, turning around in her arms to hold her, brushing bits of her hair out of her face. “I think I like coming here to you instead of my apartment. it’s warmer here,” he quietly confesses, looking away. “I can’t help it… I just want to be with you all the time.”
“scar…” she’s looking at him, watching his expression and eyes before she’s cupping his face and pressing her lips to his so very softly. “you say the sappiest things,” she chuckles, much sweeter and softer words clogged in her throat. “but… I like it when you’re around a lot too.” I like being with you too. and scar knows her enough to read between the lines, and he gives her such a bright smile. he goes to kiss her again but the beeping microwave stops him and grian giggles
she sits with him while he eats, keeping up the soft conversations. and when that’s done she’s back to leaning on him as he washes the dishes (“scar you really don’t have to.” “good! because I want to.”) and she’s dragging him back to bed after, setting her laptop aside and scar is hovering because maybe it’s time for him to go home. he can’t continue to impose—but grian is looking at him expectantly. “can you stay?”
“are… are you sure that’s okay?” scar sounds worried. “I can sleep on the couch—”
grian rolls her eyes, “would you stop worrying so much and just come here? you don’t need to sleep on the couch when there’s a perfectly good bed, and your girlfriend wants to be cuddled >:(”
“how can I say no?” he’s laughing and laying down with her and grian is on him like a koala, curling around him, leg between his, arm over him, tucking her head under his chin. scar just chuckles adoringly and holds her, kisses her head. it’s scary, how comfortable he feels right now. how at peace he is. no one has ever made him feel like this before, not even close. he wants to hold onto this feeling forever, wrap it up and protect it. he feels like he’s home, with grian holding him, snuggled up to his chest. she drifts almost immediately, while scar stays awake as long as he can, savoring it all
he runs his hand through her hair, stroking her head. he holds her so very close and tries to memorize her warmth. maui and pearl join them at some point, curling up around their legs and scar thinks he could cry because he loves this. he loves every moment, every second of this. and he’s so incredibly grateful that grian chose him. that she gifted him with her love and he gets to treasure her for as long as she’ll allow him to. is it selfish for him to hope she’ll let him do it forever? he falls asleep after a bit, admiring the bit of space grian’s allowed him to carve out for himself in her life. and just before he knocks out, he has a thought about bringing over some clothes for nights like these
(he gets woken up the following morning by maui licking his face, demanding that scar feed him and pearl. grian wakes up like ten minutes after scar does to feed the cats and she’s grumpy at the lack of warmth in her bed but hears noises in the kitchen and only then does she realize the cats aren’t with her. she gets up to check and finds scar sitting with both of the cats who’re chowing down on their breakfast, petting pearl and quietly talking to them like “we have to be real quiet okay? don’t wanna wake up the sleeping beauty now.” and grian just. melts)
