Aikidoās philosophy
I was wondering if aikido had a philosophy. Ā When I say philosophy, I donāt mean āI like to get up early in the morning and thatās my philosophyā. No what I mean is building up idea from a premises and logic: Premise 1:bla bla premise 2: bla bla, if premise 1 and 2 then conclusion: bla bla. Does Aikido has this structure, in its āphilosophyā⦠no. Okay maybe it has the kind of āare we living in the Matrixā philosophy and then try to see the logical consequences from that. But no aikidoās āphilosophyā doesnāt have that either. What aikido does have is an ideology; āhow we should harmonize yourself with the universe (what do you mean?)ā. āFlow with the movements of your opponentā or ātrue budo is meant for peaceā. The philosophy where aikidoās philosophy come closest, is to eastern philosophy, where religion and philosophy are almost the same thing.
Sure western philosophy also has philosophy about religion, but theyāve also have philosophyās that build upon premises and logic. Where aikidoās philosophy is a collection of stuff that should make you a better person.
