Tea nerd recommendations!
Photo on right: I made this delicious Turmeric tea, recipe here.
I used Macadamia milk as the non dairy milk but you can use almond milk as well. Definitely try to find fresh turmeric for this, I made it with dried at first which is ok but then I made it with fresh turmeric and it made a *huge* difference. The fresh turmeric is much silkier. Also try to use Vietnamese cinnamon if you can for an extra kick.
Photo on left: I visited the http://www.bellocq.com/ shop in Greenpoint today! It is on West Street where there is so much construction happening right now, but when you walk in you are transported into tea heaven! You can smell all their teas and sample whatever they have to try for the day.
I picked up an Afghan Chai which you can brew with or without milk, a Genmaicha which is super buttery and has a bright green flavor with a hint of toasted rice, Gypsy Caravan which is spicy black tea blend and a light herbal lemongrass tea.
Definitely stop in if you are ever in Greenpoint then you can walk on Franklin Street and stop into these shops after which have some cool stuff as well:
