ships in the neil gaiman universe are so funny to me because you have
two guys who are both dead, one who died in the edwardian era and then was sent to hell for 70 years and one who died in the late 80s who decided not to (potentially) go to heaven to stick with some guy he met a minute ago
a LITERAL angel and a LITERAL demon who have known each other since literally the beginning of THE UNIVERSE
and a guy who said "actually i think i dont wanna die. what if i just didnt" and then he actually never did because death thought it would be funny and death's sister, the god of dreams, who thought the other guy would get tired of being immortal and is sticking around to see if he does

The idea of the 'loop' in ep.03 is somewhat real. Traumas can bring people to start overthinking, consciously and subconsciously, about their experience. And being near to a situation that recalls a trauma can reactivate certain emotional responses, as we see with Charles being trapped into the loop.
Very interesting.
DBD ep.05 min. 32:56
How deep is Charles' voice when he says "liar" to Twitchy Ritchie ??
It reminded me Tom Sturridge as Dream.
I wanna add something to my latest thought about the purity of love that Dead Boy Detectives set on screen. This is something so important in our times.
Love can have many names. Love can take different shapes. But every shade of love, and its phenomenological manifestation, is equally important in our existence.
The world we're living in puts romantic and sexual manifestations of love on top while other forms are considered less fundamental. This is so patriarchal (and capitalist) in the way is tied to reproduction control (and production system). DBD is so precious in questioning that with ep.07.
Love that show.
Dead Boy Detectives Stars George Rexstrew & Jayden Revri On Season 1's R...
At 3:56 Jayden answers a question of who they would like their characters to interact with from Sandman. (Before Jayden, George answers Desire because they'd make Edwin so uncomfortable lol)
Jayden says Dream because he's subdued and he feels like Charles would lift his spirits
TLDR: Jayden Revri really looked at Morpheus' sullen face and said "Charles could fix him"

People are really sleeping on the scene where the Cat King tries to get Edwin's attention by taking the form of both Charles and Monty because that scene really goes like this;
Cat King turns into Monty because the cats told him Edwin and Monty had a flirtatious relationship.
Edwin has no real reaction and looks a little confused, because he believes he and Monty are genuinely just friends.
Cat King turns into Charles because anyone with eyes can see that Edwin is in love with Charles.
Edwin panics because he either didn't realise he was in love with Charles or because he didn't realise it was SO obvious to other people.
Edwin lets Cat King get physically close to him because he gets lost in the fantasy of Charles showing him romantic attention.
Until he sees Cat King's eyes and he remembers that this ISN'T Charles
And he immediately recoils.

The beauty of Dead Boy Detectives is going beyond a mere sexual awakening for Edwin. As George highlights in every interview, the core of ep.07 is the discovery of love and the need/will to be loved. Edwin's sexual orientation in not so relevant anymore.
This reminds me the idea of the philosopher Paul B. Preciado who claims a world beyond gender. In the stair scene being gay is not THE feature of Edwin and of his feelings for Charles. Beacuse being gay is no longer the thing that make Edwin that specific character, on the contrary it matters as much as being straight (or anything else). In other words, it finally means nothing. This is the right direction.
Hope I explained myself.
Please omit my boomer-level skills for bypassing Netflix's screenshot ban because I really need to talk about this line.
Recently, in a Twitch stream, Jayden Revri said that Charles is a Taurus, which, of course, can still be called into question, but supposing that's canonically true, we can safely assume that Edwin is referring to him in this scene. He knows Charles is a Taurus and is checking their compatibility, right?
But wait! Thanks to Monty, we know that Edwin is a Cancer. So, who is he talking about then?
Crystal. It's Crystal, y'all. Please observe her behaviour and tell me she's not an Aries. She's confident, competitive, honest, and impulsive. She's passionate and feels things intensely!
Edwin is investigating Charles' and Crystal's compatibility, which is a very Edwin thing to do, and we love a research king.
Now, I'm not an astrology person, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. However, I'm certain I can make a pretty strong case for this one.
So yeah, do what you will with this information <3
Something is right, something is wrong.
An attempt of sketching George Rexstrew in one of his sweetest photos with an ordinary (and shoddy) pen.
Two considerations about this sketch:
1. The most important part of drawing is looking at the reference, and after a while it seems to really know that person (meeting George it would be a dream come true for me at the moment btw).
2. Eyes are the part I usually emphasise the most, and George has very beautiful ones (both in colour and shape). Nothing strange if we think that they are the greatest information resource when we interact with others. But it is weird that in real life I struggle a lot with looking people in the eyes, I feel very uncomfortable. I need to think about that.
A good day everyone!
The last time I drew a portrait was several years ago. When I was fourteen I believed in my drawing skills, but my parents (my dad actually) didn't allow me to follow an artistic career. Art school wasn't enough.. for him.
Recently I struggled with the awareness of the loss of my more creative and intimate part, hidden deep inside by that decision.
Today I made this quick sketch of George Rexstrew. His interpretation of Edwin in Dead Boy Detectives, along with its wonderful story, clicked something into my soul. And then I understood. The most creative part of myself is intimately tied to the feeling of love.
And then, others things become clear to me. Love is one of my strongest creative activators.
Tbh I don't like the idea of Charles falling in love with Edwin. Men can be close friends with some physical intimacy and sweetness for each other without being in love.
This is what we must dismiss from this patriarchal society.
