Kurt Hummel doesn't like Blaine Anderson, but when he gets sick during the holiday period, and Blaine is the only one around to help him, the two need to make it work.

This is my Secret Santa fic to wonderful, talented @esilher! Your art is so beautiful and has fast become an integral part of this nowadays tiny fandom. Thank you for providing us with cool scenarios in your art and that way keeping this fandom alive. I hope you enjoy this story and have a happy holiday time!
Summary: Tattoo artist Kurt lives in Lima. Blaine is on his way to visit Cooper for the holidays. Snow storm hits and he gets stranded, so calls Cooper, who calls Kurt to save his little brother. Kurt goes to help and finds Blaine, drives him home and warms him up. Blaine is freaking out inside because this is Cooper's friend Kurt, and he's had a crush forever. Kurt is trying to not react to little Blaine all grown up.
A/N: I haven't finished anything since last year's Secret Santa, so be gentle. Writing is took a lot out of me, but I did get it written, with a lot of help from @cerriddwenluna.
On their first day in Vail, on the last-minute vacation of a lifetime, Blaine has come up with a surprise for his husband that's equal parts horrifying and confusing. (1461 words)
Read on AO3.
"Tell me why..."
"Ain't nothin' but a heartache..."
"Stop that," Kurt snaps.
"Oh, uh..." Blaine bites his lips together, stifling a giggle. But more importantly, stifling the next verse of the song. "Sorry."
Kurt breathes in, cold air shooting straight to his lungs and freezing them solid. 'This is it,' he thinks, shivering so hard his body vibrates, scooting him a foot to the left against his will. 'This is how I die. I become a human popsicle. Maybe they can preserve me, revive me in the future. God...' He glances up at the dreary sky, his view obscured by his bangs, holding their height remarkably well against the blistering breeze. 'I hope my hair keeps up.'
When they had arrived in Vail and checked in, Kurt immediately threw on his swimsuit at Blaine's request. Personally, he'd been excited to get the debauchery started! It had been too long since they'd taken a proper vacation. Yes, they live alone together and can have sex freely on every piece of furniture they own. But there was something about taking their carnal escapades to a different locale that got Kurt's blood pumping.
What can he say? He loves to travel.
After Kurt suited up, Blaine tossed him his parka and boots, then ushered his husband past the cozy lodge, with its heated mineral spring pools and five-star restaurant, to this foreboding body of black, ice-filled water. They'd stopped at the banks, joining a swimsuit-clad group already gathered and intent on jumping in. Kurt thought Blaine had dragged him there for a laugh - watch the tourists freeze their asses off before they themselves retreated to the soothing waters inside.
It horrified Kurt to no end that Blaine looked eager to take the plunge, too.
When they had planned this vacation together on their sofa in Manhattan, Blaine made no mention of participating in the Arctic Dip. But that must have been his plan all along.
Surprise!
Kurt didn't think he could find a place colder than Ohio in December.
Staring into the water in front of him, ice bobbing at the surface, he knows he's about to be proven wrong.
Everything from his nuts to his nose shrivels at the thought.
"Explain to me again," Kurt starts over, choosing his words carefully so as not to stumble upon the lyrics of another catchy boy-band earworm, "why we're about to do this."
Blaine claps his hands together, rubbing them hard to warm them, and beams ear to ear. "Because it's exhilarating!"
"Your definition of exhilarating and my definition of exhilarating are vastly different then." Kurt pulls his parka tighter around him, attempting to trap whatever heat he has left underneath. It pains him to do it, though. He is certain he has pulled most of the seams loose by now.
A group of older, less dressed gentlemen stroll by as if it's a sunny spring day and not 80 degrees below, laughing at their own jokes and nodding at Kurt and Blaine as they pass. Blaine politely adverts his eyes.
"At least we're wearing bathing suits," he kids.
"Speedos. Which you had me pack under false pretenses."
"No! No false pretenses!" Blaine pleads, hoping his plans haven't lost him access to his husband in a Speedo for the rest of their trip. "They're for the jacuzzi in our suite. I swear."
"Which we haven't even seen yet! You dragged us straight here!"
"We want to take the plunge with everyone else! Before the ice melts!"
"Do we, though?" Kurt whines.
"Yes! This is the highlight of this resort! That's why I chose it! I've been looking forward to this!"
Kurt scowls. "O-kay. If you want to do this, fine. But why can't I wait on the sidelines with a sherry and a smile?"
"Because it's a bucket list item. And we do bucket list stuff together."
"But it's on your bucket list. Not mine. Nowhere on my bucket list does it say freeze my balls off!"
"I was hoping you'd do this with me as a favor? Be supportive of my eccentricities?"
Kurt tilts his head at Blaine, carefully examining his suddenly sullen spouse. "Why do you sound embarrassed about that?"
"Because it's..." Blaine chews his lower lip, trying to avoid the inevitable reveal. But he can't. He can't put this confession off any longer. "It's a... mid-life... bucket list item."
Kurt turns fully towards his husband, eyebrow arcing sharply. "You have your bucket list divided into age groups?"
"More like milestones."
"And you can't just dye your hair blond and buy a Ferrari like everyone else?"
"You mean like my dad? And my brother? Who got it into their heads that married life was holding them back, so they messed up the best things that ever happened to them?"
"I... guess," Kurt says, softening even though every outward inch of him has become rock solid.
"Yeah, well at least they waited a few decades, right? As opposed to me, who started in high school." Blaine chuckles bitterly. "Coop always said I was an overachiever."
Kurt sighs, releasing his death grip on his cramping elbows, and takes his husband's hands. "Honey, where is this coming from?"
"I don't know," Blaine murmurs. It's a knee-jerk answer but it's also a lie. He does know. They both do. Or, at least, Kurt can guess. It was either the invitation they received to Cooper's second wedding to his second wife, taking place in June (only a month after his second divorce from wife number one finalizes... the wife Blaine loves and adores like a sister) or the heads-up from Blaine's mom that his dad, who came back a year ago to joy and revelry all around, is eloping with his secretary.
His 20-year-old secretary.
Blaine's mom broke the news to Blaine over the phone at three in the morning, hysterically crying and sloppy drunk.
But it could also be the out-of-the-blue Facebook friend request Blaine got from Eli, their favorite lighthouse. Blaine had blocked the man on everything he could think of, so to see his name and picture pop up (real picture this time) had thrown Blaine for a loop.
He almost deleted his account.
Either way, that was a ton of emotional baggage for Blaine to deal with all at once. It's ninety percent of the reason why they packed their bags last minute and ran off to Vail. Blaine couldn't face spending the holidays with his family this year.
He wouldn't even know whose house to go to.
Kurt was fine with it. His family had headed off on another Country Music Christmas Cruise. Sure he missed his dad, his stepmother, and his stepbrother.
But Kurt had never declined an invitation so fast.
He had nothing against country music. He did have an issue with being trapped in the middle of the ocean with twenty-five Bluegrass bands and nothing to eat but BBQ for two weeks. Kurt and his father were going to have to have a serious conversation about his cholesterol when the man came back to terra firma.
Blaine shivers for the first time since they've been out here, and Kurt wonders if he's finally feeling the bite in the wind, or if it's from something else.
Something frozen deep inside, so cold that ice water is actually warm enough to melt it.
Kurt looks down at the still water, abyssal black and straight out of a horror flick, then back at his husband, eyes downcast to the snow, lips turning a subtle shade of blue. Kurt knows Blaine is rethinking this decision, and normally Kurt would encourage that. But this time doing what Blaine wants, what he needs, is more important than Kurt's comfort.
And possibly his health.
"Okay, okay. I'll do this with you," Kurt says, abandoning the escape plan he had been brewing in his brain - the one where he takes a step back as his husband leaps forward and books it for the lodge - and embraces the numbing cold. "Because you're my husband, and I love you."
Blaine peeks up at his husband and smiles, a small ray of sunshine in this oppressive chill. "Thank you, Kurt." He considers adding, 'You won't regret this,' after, but he has to be real.
Kurt regrets it already.
"But whatever happens," Kurt says, unzipping his jacket quickly like ripping off a bandaid, "you are responsible for warming me up, whatever that entails, and for however long it takes. Deal?"
Blaine's shy, apologetic smile transforms.
It becomes wolfish.
Through chattering teeth and hard-pinched lips, Kurt's flirtatious tone managed to squeeze its way back into his voice.
Perhaps Blaine hasn't lost access to his husband in a Speedo after all.
Hello hello hello, and Happy Secret Santa, @ericdooley and @klainesecretsanta2024 â¨ď¸
I apologise profusely for taking so long but the last few weeks have been crazy, still are, but I had to post! Absolutely! I don't know if I will be able to keep up a precise frequency with posting, but I hope I won't go too long! Just know, dear Eric, that I will publish it all!
That said, I hope with all my heart you enjoy this silly little story. It smells like a Hallmark movie to death but that's the beauty of Christmas, isn't it?
This is my very first multi chapters, so be forgiving!!! I know it's no longer fashionable to write short chapters but... at least it's something, right?
I hope, Eric, I've nailed your taste! I definitely got caught up in "humour", "romance" and "all things British" (you'll see why...).
So... here's the story!
Susyâs Wonderland
Take a freelance teacher, an eccentric and lively grandmother, and a writer in the midst of a momentous uncertainty. Add a cosy cottage in the heart of the English countryside, a cast of quirky characters, and best friends who couldnât be more different. Stir in some cinnamon, orange zest, heartfelt emotions, and a generous dash of humour, all topped with festive garlands and twinkling Christmas trees. The result? A recipe for a charming Christmas tale, brimming with warmth, wit, and unexpected surprises.
My 2024 Klaine Advent fic is set in S4 but Kurt and Blaine are meeting at NYADA as freshman. Because everyone loves a holiday meet cute. Or meet disaster.
Kurt waits until the house is quiet. Rachel and Santana are out for the rest of the afternoon, meaning he can finally get to the thing he's been thinking about for the last couple hours. He pulls out his phone.
Hi. I'm the guy who knocked coffee all over your sweater. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you.
It's too short. He should make it nicer.
I had finals but they are done and now I can finally fulfill my offer to get that cleaned for you. Hopefully you already rinsed it so the stain did not set. Did you already send it to the cleaners? I will pay the bill. Just let me know how much and I can Venmo you. Or I can give you some pointers about how to take care of it at home. It is simple if you have a good soaking sink and place for it to dry out. I can pay for the detergent you need if you don't have the stuff for cleaning wool. Again I am really sorry this text took so long.
Easy, tiger, the thinks to himself. Now it is too long. And weirdly specific about laundry. What if this guy doesn't know anything about caring for fabrics? What if he is just some guy in a nice sweater?
Kurt watches as three dots appear on his phone. He finds himself nervous from guilt. It had been nearly a week.
The three dots disappear.
"Well shit," he says to the empty apartment. This one is totally on him. He feels terrible.
The three dots appear again. They pulsate on his phone as the person on the other end types.
Kurt's heart is in his throat. He expects a rude diatribe. Really, it would only be fair.

âI just donât know if you have it in you, Kurt,â Rachel says.
In reply, Kurt sticks his tongue out at her.
âReal mature.â But she returns the gesture.
Heâs texting Blaine, planning their next date. Blaine has taken charge this time prompting Kurt to ask about attire. If the place theyâre eating is a surprise, the dress code absolutely cannot be.
âSecond date isnât too early right?â
âFor a kiss? He slept here!â
Sheâs got a point.
âBut we didnât do anything, we just watched movies and the snow and had dinner.â
âAnd if he had left, would you have kissed at the door?â Rachel prompts.
Yes is the obvious answer but of course canât know if Blaine would have wanted to be kissed. He must take too long to answer because the next time he looks at Rachel, sheâs bundled up in her scarf and hat ready to head out to meet her boyfriend.
âIâd love to watch you build up the nerve but I have plans with Charlie.â
âYeah, have fun! Iâll be here sitting in the misery of my own making.â
Rachel laughs as she shuts the door behind her.
As much as crushes pained Kurt, he didn't know six months ago that heâd be meeting someone like Blaine Anderson. He hadnât seen him coming.
He may have dreamed of a man like Blaine having an interest in him but even in his wildest dreams, it never was something Kurt believed would become a reality. But here he was, living in New York and spending his first Christmas pining for a man heâs sorta, kinda, maybe dating.
Maybe his luck would turn and Blaine would be different from the other men Kurt has liked over the years. And if Kurt was really lucky maybe he could get a kiss on their next date.
Kurt and Blaine are both nominated for a major theater award. They attend the show, while trying to navigate when and how to reveal a major secret.
Rated T: for mild language, small amount of drinking, and mild sexy times.

Kurt Hummel exits the backseat of his car and takes his first step onto the red carpet. The scene is pure pandemonium. The red carpet is lined with reporters and cameras, actors and celebrities, and ropes that hold off thousands of screaming fans. Every time he steps foot into one of these hooplas, he has half a mind to get back into the car and sneak in the back way. Unlike most of his colleagues in the theater world, heâs never been a huge fan of these events. Sure, heâll discuss the gossip and the fashion until the cows come home, but having to live it is always a different story. Â
He nervously plays with his phone as he makes his first few steps down the carpet. He shouldnât have it with him, he knows, but itâs a strange source of comfort. Itâs something to do with his hands, which might otherwise be stuffed into the pockets of his very expensive suit. Â
He hears sudden clicks, and he knows already that there are cameras pointed in his direction. He should be used to it. In some ways he is used to it. But it never fails to surprise him that there are people who actually want photos of him. Heâs gone for a simpler look this year -- a gorgeous teal jacket and pants, paired with a royal purple shirt, with a silver pin for an accent. The whole thing is textured, and the cut is flattering and appealing, and much more toned down than the eccentric design he wore the previous year. Â
He takes a deep breath and moves forward. He hears his name being called from multiple directions. Some are the event guides, ushering him to go. Some are the photographers, dying to get that first shot of him arriving. But a majority of the screaming is coming from the fans. He doesnât love the crowds. He doesnât. But he does try his best -- for them. Â
He gives a smile, and a wave, and inches closer to the ropes where theyâre all standing. Theyâve come all this way, and have probably stood outside for mere glimpses of the celebrities for hours. Itâs insane - but there was a time when he may have done the same, just for a brief interaction with someone he admired. Â
Before going to the fans, however, he takes a quick moment to scan the carpet ahead of him. There are plenty of people he recognizes, plenty of people heâs worked with before, a few big names that make him seem like a small fish in a big pond, and a few faces he doesnât recognize at all. But one in particular stands out. Standing in his bright, mustard yellow suit is Blaine Anderson. Â
Kurt takes a moment to watch Blaine as he easily moves along the crowd; chatting, signing autographs, laughing and whatever the fans are telling him. He positively glows in the energy. He always has. Kurt shakes his head, fondly. He loves his job, but feels more at peace when an audience is quietly sitting and watching him on stage. When he has the ability to turn it all off, and connect with the character and the story and come alive as a different person. Being him has always been difficult. But Blaine has no such difficulty. Itâs admirable, really. And he adores Blaine for it. Â
He then sneaks a quick second to check out Blaineâs ass, nice and round and on display whenever Blaine reaches his arms out to sign another autograph. Kurt bites his bottom lip, thinking about earlier that morning, when he had seen that ass up close and person. He grins, thinking about it; thinking about how despite their growing celebrity status, some things remain just between the two of them. Â
For a quick second, Blaine turns his head behind him and, as if a magnet were drawn between them, notices Kurt. He beams, wiggles his eyebrows for a second, and then goes back to the fans. Tonight is not about him and Blaine. Tonight is about the show. They both know that. Which is why they keep what they have together on the down low. But it doesnât stop them from stealing a moment or two. Â
Kurt turns back to his side of the carpet, ready to address the legions of people waiting on the other side of the rope. As he approaches, their yells become deafening, and most of what theyâre screaming is incomprehensible. The only thing he really can make out is his name. Â
He smiles brighter, trying his best to appear as kind as possible, as he takes a marker and begins to scribble his name on a Playbill. Most of the fans are respectful. And while overwhelmed, shower him with compliments -- everything ranging from âI loved your performance, it moved me so muchâ to âcan I have your babies?â. He always has to chuckle at the range he finds. Â
Thereâs always at least one person, however, who gives him pause. âHey, did you and Blaine Anderson break up?â It's a young woman with a nose ring attempting to take a photo of him with her phone -- who seems less interested in him than whatever gossip sheâs going to share online. âCause, like, yâall havenât spoken to each other in weeks. Online, I mean. Like, yâall are done, arenât you?âÂ
He lets out a sigh, tries his best not to look back at Blaine. He knows that with celebrity comes lack of privacy. Heâs been bracing for it. But what he has with Blaine is special, and heâll protect that the best he can. Kurt moves on to answer another fan, who has a question about a wig he wore in a previous production, ignoring the girl with the nose ring.Â
***
The interviewer is a tall, platinum blonde woman with a too dark tan and a bright, shimmering gold dress that clashes with her skin. Kurt has talked with her before - as she works for one of those websites that streams all its content on YouTube or some specialized streaming service. He canât remember which one, and the âMâ on her microphone doesnât help any, but since heâs being shuffled to every journalist out here, he just goes with the flow. Â
âKuuuuuurt,â her high-pitched voice cries. âKurt Hummel everyone.â She says it to her audience in the camera, wherever that might be. Kurt gives a friendly smile and waves to the people watching on the other side of the screen. He may not like this part of the job, but he tries to always give his best to the fans. âHow excited are you to be here?â The woman, whose name if he remembers correctly is Karlee, asks. Â
âItâs a pleasure. And surreal. Always surreal,â he replies, truthfully. Â
âBefore we get too much further, we have to get your bestie over here,â she says, unexpectedly. Â
Kurt isnât quite sure what sheâs talking about until she waves a hand (one thatâs holding a cue card in it) over to someone behind him. âBlaine Anderson, get on over here.âÂ
Oh.  Oh .Â
Blaine comes up right next to him, all friendly smiles and charm and doesnât give Kurt one ounce of attention. He does, however, slightly push his elbow into Kurtâs arm. Kurt pushes back. He almost gives a laugh, but retrains. Â
âKarlee, what a delight, honey, you look wonderful,â Blaine coos, taking her hand, and giving her cheek a kiss. Â
Fucking Blaine, always being so suave. Kurt bites his bottom lip, amused at how easily Blaine does it. Blaine is definitely playing it up with the playful banter, but he also is well aware that it keeps the attention off of Kurt. Just as Kurt likes it. They do make a great team. Â
âLook at the two of you, matching tonight.â Â
Kurt and Blaine turn towards each other, both pretending to be shocked. Â
I told you theyâd notice -- Kurt says with his eyes and a grin, thinking about the hours-long conversation they had about what to wear.Â
Blaine gives a casual shrug, but Kurt can read him like a book.  Who cares? Weâre hot and they love it. Â
Weâre supposed to be low profile, Blaine.Â
Weâre theater actors, Kurt, nothing about us is low profile. Â
They probably shouldnât be doing their secret exchange, not when theyâre supposed to be paying attention to Kaylee, not while everyone is watching, but Blaine has such beautiful honey-gold eyes⌠the shield Kurt always has up, especially in public, is dented just a little when those eyes shine so brightly on him. Â
After a few moments of fashion talk, Kaylee hits them with something completely different. âSo, the two of you met a decade ago now on the stage during the original run of Show Choir! -- which ended up being such a surprising hit and thrust you both into the limelight. I hear now there are talks of a movie version -- any chance youâll be involved.âÂ
âNo,â Kurt says, maybe too quickly and too sharply. He owes that show everything. And yet he never wants to relive any of it ever again. Blaine eyes him and knowsâŚÂ
As always, Blaine manages to be much more diplomatic in response. âI think I can speak for Kurt when I say -- we will always cherish what that show was for us. It got us both on our feet. It taught us everything we know now. But itâs time to let a new generation take the reins. And, I mean, weâre both pushing thirty now. No one wants to see thirty-year-olds playing high school students. Even on stage.â Â
âOf course, weâll cheer on whatever new cast takes it on,â Kurt adds, hopeful that it sounds encouraging enough for the soundbite itâll inevitably become. Â
Kaylee throws her head back in laughter as if itâs the funniest thing sheâs ever heard. âWell, itâll be exciting to watch for sure. So, the two of you are both nominated tonight for your phenomenal roles in such different productions. Kurt, youâre nominated for your devastating turn where you play an American Civil War soldier figuring out his sexuality. While Blaine, you have a haunting turn as a ghost in what everyone has been calling an epic space opera on stage. Your roles are so different and yet have hit audiences so hard. How do you feel about that?âÂ
âItâs cliche, I know, but as everyone says, it is an honor to be nominated,â Kurt says. âAnd I think that everyone nominated tonight deserves to be here. I think it speaks to the writing and production and power of the stage that we are allowed to have such characters to play. And I think it speaks to the power of storytelling that you can have such a variety of characters and yet be so moved by them. I think we both feel really, really lucky that there are so many good shows being produced right now.â Â
âI think Kurtâs said it beautifully,â Blaine adds. âI canât possibly top that.âÂ
âOne last question -- any fun plans to celebrate tonight?âÂ
Kurt gives her an odd look, then for a split second, gives Blaine a panicked look.Â
She knows?Â
Sheâs talking about celebrating winning an award, KurtâŚÂ
Well, I did win this morningâŚÂ
They share knowing looks. Â
âIâm sure thereâs plenty of trouble we can get ourselves into,â Blaine says with a sly grin. Â
****
Kurt throws back his second shot and slams the glass on the bar. Nothing like having something in you to calm the nerves. He knows his limits, and when the bartender asks if heâd like another, he shakes his head and nudges the glass away. Normally, he settles for a nice cocktail at these things, but his anxiety has been climbing all evening. Itâs not that he thinks heâs going to win - heâs aware of all the betting pools and the articles, his chances are very slim considering who heâs up against. Itâs the fact that the spotlight is so firmly on him. Itâs the fact that there are much better places heâd rather be. Â
He should go mingle; should go say hi to the dozens of people he knows, and attempt to make a connection with those he doesnât. But heâs not as cut out for this one might think. The first time he went to one of these things it had been awe-inspiring. Surreal. Kind of amazing. Now that heâs been to them enough times, the shine has somewhat worn off, and it feels like another part he has to perform. Â
âDrink too many of those, and youâll be slurring your way through your presenting duties.â Blaine comes to his side, leaning against the bar with a charming grin on his face. Â
âIs it over yet?â Kurt laments.Â
âThis is the fun part, Kurt.â Â
âYou are having fun, I am surviving,â Kurt says. He contemplates another glass, and looks over to the bartender, signaling him over. Blaine puts a hand over his, and shakes the bartender off, knowing better. Kurt lets out a heavy sigh. âDo you think we should have come together?âÂ
Blaine gives him an odd look. âIt was your idea not to.âÂ
âI know.âÂ
âYou wish we had?âÂ
Kurt contemplates. Itâs such a loaded question. One that theyâve both mulled over countless number of times. Weighed pros and cons. Sought outside help. There are no easy answers to such questions. âYouâre the one thing I donât want to share with the rest of the world,â Kurt says. He doesnât meet Blaineâs eye, but keeps it firmly on the bar. âAnd yet, Iâm bursting on the inside to do just that.â Â
Blaineâs face softens, and he squeezes Kurtâs hand. âThatâs sweet, Kurt. You already know how I feel about it.â
âI doâŚâ He does. Kurt looks over to Blaine to see his shining eyes looking adoringly at him. There are hundreds of people in the room and yet itâs just the two of them, an allowed moment of privacy among the crowd. âYou know, the fans think we broke up.âÂ
Blaine tilts his head at him, shaking it. âSince when have you ever cared what they think?âÂ
âI donât,â a smirk crosses Kurtâs face. âI just thought it was funny.â Â
âSocial media detectives will be the death of us all.âÂ
âWell, it wouldnât hurt you to like some of my cat videos and Liza Minnelli memes,â Kurt jokes. Â
âWe should get Tina to work with you on your social media presence,â Blaine says, as if they hadnât argued about this a thousand times. Â
âAnd she should really lay off yours,â Kurt counters. âI mean, the noodle incidentâŚâÂ
Blaine rolls his eyes and ignores him. âMaybe it is time to talk about being more public. As a couple.âÂ
Kurt winces. âWe are not letting TinaâŚâÂ
âThatâs not what I mean,â Blaine says. Heâs serious, very serious. âMaybe itâs finally time, all things considered.âÂ
âOr⌠we could release an official statement and let it be?â Kurt says. Theyâve managed to be just the two of them for so long. He doesnât want that to change. âI donât want to be featured on the cover of People magazine.â
âBeing featured on the cover of People magazine isnât so bad you know,â Blaine says. His charm returns as they both think of the framed cover in Blaineâs bathroom. Â
Kurt lets out a playful, annoyed groan. âAny chance you have to bring up how officially sexy you areâŚâÂ
âIt wouldnât hurt you to indulge me every once in a while.âÂ
âI already suck your dick, Blaine, you donât need me to kiss your ass, too.â Â
Blaine lets out a hearty laugh. âI have it on good authority that you are actually very good at kissing my ass.â Â
Kurt gives him a sharp glance. âFuck you.â Â
Blaine gives him a dark look, as if challenging him to do just that. Kurt wishes he could lean over and kiss him. Fuck all the people and the cameras and the undoubted mess it would create. He wants to kiss Blaine so badly, and has enough alcohol in him that it might be worth it. Â
Blaineâs sober enough for the both of them. âCâmon, we have a ceremony to attend.â Â
****
Kurt bounces on the balls of his feet. He and Blaine are waiting backstage, just the two of them, as the ceremony rolls on beyond the curtain. He can hear the presenters for the award for musical score doing their bit. Thereâs audience laughter, and some applause, and someone said something that struck a chord. He suddenly doesnât feel all that well. Â
Blaine looks at him, concerned. âAre you nervous?âÂ
âNo.âÂ
âYouâre nervous.â A sweet grin climbs on Blaineâs face, as he judges his shoulder against Kurtâs. Â
Kurt holds himself tightly. âDo you know how many people will be out there watching us?âÂ
âWeâre delivering an award, Kurt. Itâs not like weâre performing,â Blaine says. He almost sounds disappointed about it. âItâs not like anyone is going to be paying any attention to us. All we have to do is make sure we get the name right.â Â
âWe have to do witty banter,â Kurt argues. âTheyâll all be paying attention. What if they really donât like what weâre wearing? What if they miss that we have amazing on stage chemistry? My god, what if they donât find us funny?âÂ
Blaine shakes his head dismissively. âIâve never known you to not be funny.âÂ
Kurt holds up one finger. âI have a sophisticated, dry wit that not everyone gets.â Â
âYou do remember that this witty banter was pre-written and all we have to do is say the lines, right?â Blaine says. âI canât believe youâre nervous. Youâve performed on stage naked before.â Â
âYeah, for like five people,â Kurt hisses. âThere are at least five million people watching this.â Â
Blaine narrows his eyes, looking troubled. âYouâre really having an issue with this.âÂ
Kurt bites his bottom lip. He is, and he doesnât like it. Itâs not really because of the sheer amount of people. He doesnât mind performing in front of them. Itâs not like heâs never been in front of large crowds before. Itâs the fact that itâs he and Blaine. Together. With everyone having their eyes on them. Everyone watching every interaction theyâll make, and how itâll be scrutinized and torn apart and he wishes that not every public interaction they have needs to be put under a microscope. He wishes they didnât have to endure that type of pressure. Â
He breathes heavily. âI feel like Iâm going to throw up.â Â
âWell, maybe you shouldnât have done all those shots.â Blaine actually gets him to laugh. Â
He looks at Blaine in wonder, always wondering how he lets it all roll off his back. âHow is it nothing phases you?âÂ
âThings phase me.â
âReally?âÂ
Blaine tilts his head at him. âYou have seen me at my worst, Kurt, you know that. They just arenât the same things as you. It evens us out. Itâs why we work.â Blaine comes in close, rubbing Kurtâs arms. âGoing on stage with out an audience - thatâs something that phases me. Jesse St. Jamesâs dog, which might actually be a demon in a dog costume, phases me. And seeing you like this. I donât like seeing you like this.â Â
A warmth spreads through Kurtâs chest. Suddenly, his fears begin to melt away. He loves this man. He loves him so deeply. Kurt has tried so hard never to care what other people think of him, he isnât sure why it bothers him so much now. Only that Blaine means the world to him, and he wants nothing more to protect that. Wants to protect the person who makes him feel grounded and loved and safe. Â
âIâll be okay,â Kurt says, though he turns his head away. Â
Blaine knows him better than that. He says nothing, but watches him carefully. Â
A production assistant rounds the corner, shouting that they have two minutes to get into place. Â
Kurt stands up, straightens, puts his more professional face on. He can do this. They can do this. Â
âYou ready to see whoâs going to win best costuming?â Blaine asks. He sneaks a hand down to Kurtâs giving it a squeeze before they start heading out. Â
âI really hope itâs April Rhodes.âÂ
âKurt, sheâs not nominated in this category.â Â
âI know, but did you see what she was wearing? Itâs this insane fuchsia, â80s inspired dress, which I think you could totally pull off something like that if you wanted to go outside your comfort zone and try.â Â
The color drains from Blaineâs face. âOh god no, Kurt. No.â Â
****
Their category is close to the end of the night. The hosting portion of the evening flew by in a blur, and Kurt hardly remembers being on stage nearly an hour before. Heâs been sitting, bouncing a knee anxiously, during the rest of the ceremony. Â
He had been asked if he wanted to bring a plus one. He had turned it down, not sure who he should ask. His dad and stepmom would have come, but Caroleâs sister is in the hospital and they just wouldnât be able to make it out to New York. All the rest of his friends and colleagues seemed to have found dates or family members that would attend. Â
Blaine had asked if they wanted to go together. Kurt had said no. Â
They hadnât talked it through enough. Hadnât consulted their teams. Hadnât worked it out with Tina -- god, Tina would have a fucking field day showing off their relationship. It had seemed like too much of a hassle. And at the time, Kurt hadnât felt ready. Â
And then this morning happened. It still feels like a hazy dream -- wrapped up in bed together, not even awake enough to get the coffee. The way Blaine held him so comfortably in his arms. Every morning should be like this one. Every morning should be absolutely perfect. Â
He can see Blaineâs eyes - so perfectly bright and loving. Â
Marry me. Â
What?Â
Be my husband, Kurt.Â
He had always expected it at some point. Kurt knew almost the day they met that their lives would be intertwined. But he had always expected Blaine had bigger plans. Heâs not sure what he had expected. Itâs not like Blaine was going to hire every large ensemble in New York to sing on the stage where they met as rose petals fluttered down from the sky. Thatâs just insane.Â
But off the cuff? Unplanned? They hadnât even had sex that morning (yet). They hadnât even had coffee. Â
And Blaine just asks him. Takes his breath away without even trying. Â
How could he possibly have said no?Â
He could be sitting next to his fiance right now. Instead, heâs sitting next to an elderly woman, the mother of a nominated set designer. The other side is the aisle. Up a few rows and over a few seats is Blaine, smiling happily as the actress on stage reads through the list of names. Â
Heâs not nervous for himself. All the articles he read (more than he should have) listed him near the bottom of possibilities. And that is fine. As Blaine often says, theyâre both still young, and have plenty of time to do more amazing things in their careers. Kurt did not write up a list of people to thank, nor tried to memorize any speeches. He didnât let himself get too caught up in the idea of winning. Â
But Blaine has a real chance. Heâs been a buzz in the community. Everyone wants to work with him. Heâs had more job offers than he can even handle lately. And he looks so adoringly hopeful as they wait for the actress to open the envelope. Â
âAnd the winner isâŚâ she says. Kurt holds his breath. âJonathan Bailey as Oscar Pennington in Penny For Your Thoughts .âÂ
Kurt lets out a sigh that feels like relief. He smiles kindly and claps, unsurprised that the frontrunner of the race actually won. He looks over to Blaine and despite the grin plastered on his face, Kurt knows him enough to see disappointment there as well. Â
After a moment, when Blaine knows there arenât any cameras on him, he throws a look back to Kurt. Kurt gives a kind shrug. Â
Hey, at least we have each other.Â
A genuine grin crosses Blaineâs face.  We do. Â
*****
The rest of the ceremony passes by without much incident. During one of the performances, the mics cut out but the entire cast belted out their song anyway and the winner of best writing for a show thanked their writing partner but not their famous wife which will be slightly scandalous in the morning but other than that, there arenât any upsets or unpredictabilities, which makes for a rather boring time. Â
Just as itâs ending, Kurt gets a text from Blaine : Wait for me .Â
Itâs like herding cattle to get out, but eventually Kurt is able to, and waits off in a corridor for Blaine. Blaine, of course, is the social butterfly, and has to talk with everyone as he makes his way out. Kurt could join him. Maybe he should join him. But he stands on the sidelines and waits. Waits until Blaine finally catches his eye, and thereâs a certain type of thrill that comes when Blaineâs entire face lights up. Itâs a face thatâs saved solely for Kurt, and thereâs always a tiny pang of relief when itâs there. Â
âSo, get this,â Blaine says as he walks over. Thereâs a giddiness all over his face. âSo, I managed to run into Jonathan Bailey, as one does. We chatted for a little bit and he said we should come to his afterparty. I mean, he said to me, but told me to bring whoever I liked. You are never going to believe whoâs else is going to show up, I--â
âI promised Rachel and Jesse weâd attend their party,â Kurt replies quickly. Thereâs something about a major party, with lots of famous people, lots of people in general, that gives Kurt pause. Â
Blaine gives him a bewildered look. âKurt, they throw the same, boring party every year. They didnât even come tonight.â
âWell, to be fair, Rachel asked me, but she never mentioned you, so technically, youâre free to do as you like.â It comes off a little more dismissive than he intends it. They never did talk about after the show, but the plan had always been Rachel and Jesseâs. Â
Blaine gives him a somewhat confused stare. Â
âWhat?â Kurt asks. Â
Blaine takes him a little further down the corridor, so they arenât seen as people continue to file out of the theater. âWhy are you being like this?âÂ
âBeing like what?âÂ
âYou donât care about Rachel and Jesseâs party - nor would they notice if youâre even there.â
âOh, Rachel will noticeâŚâÂ
Blaine clenches his jaw but holds back on whatever heâs thinking. âOkay, why donât we stop by Rach and Jesseâs for a second, then head over to the other party. Kurt, it might be a good opportunity to make some good new connections.âÂ
Kurt considers, but he doesnât love the idea. âMaybeâŚâÂ
âWould you rather just go home?â
He is tired. It has been a long day, and his bed does feel enticing. Besides, thereâs all the rest of it to consider. Does he have the energy for it? âYou should go. I donât want to ruin your night.âÂ
âKurt, you never ruin my night,â Blaine says. He reaches for Kurtâs hand, and gives it a squeeze, only to drop it quickly, as a couple of men in tuxes turn down the corridor and walk past. âWhat is this about? Are you upset about how the night went? Hit your limit with people? Or⌠is it me?â Â
The look of devastation on Blaineâs face breaks his heart. Itâs not Blaine. Itâs never been Blaine. âNo, of course not. I donât know, Blaine, I just donât want to argue with you.âÂ
âWe canât argue if you wonât talk to me.âÂ
Kurt takes a moment as Blaine waits for some kind of explanation. âWhen Iâm with you - I donât want to think about being with you. I just want to be with you.â Â
Blaine narrows his eyes, confused. âI donât know that I follow.âÂ
âI just want us, together , and if we go to that partyâŚâÂ
âEveryone will know that weâre together?âÂ
âThatâs not what I mean.â Â
âKurt, weâre getting married,â Blaine says. He looks as tired as Kurt feels. âWe have to figure this out at some point unless⌠this isnât something you really want.â Â
âYou are always what I want,â Kurt responds quickly, to assuage Blaineâs fears. Â
Blaine lets out a little sigh and crosses his arms. âKurt⌠I really doubt this one celebrity party is going to be an issue. Even if someone does see us. Or notices. Or we let ourselves be ourselves. Who cares, Kurt? When have you ever let anyone else dictate how you live your life?â Â
Blaine is right. When has he ever let anyone tell him what to do? But itâs about more than just him. Itâs about them . âI canât lose you,â Kurt says quietly. Â
âWhat?â Itâs not what Blaine expects to hear. Â
âI canât lose you.â Kurt looks up and into Blaineâs eyes. âYou are etched into my very soul and I donât know if I can function anymore without you in it. And the idea that some outside factor might come along and take you from meâŚâ Â
Blaine softens. âIâm not going anywhere, you know that. And when things get fucked up, as they always seem to get fucked up, Iâll be right there with you - saying âfuck youâ to the world. Weâre a team, remember? But, if you just want to go to Rachâs or just go home, thatâs what weâll do, okay?âÂ
âNo,â Kurt says. Just the idea of this party makes him nervous, but Blaine doesnât. Heâs right. Itâs about time they start taking the world by storm. âNo, youâre right. I think we should go to this party. Rachelâs going to want to play tacky karaoke games anyway.â Â
Blaine lets out a laugh, then reaches out for Kurtâs hands and takes them. âAre you sure?â Â
Kurt does something then that surprises even himself. He leans in and gives Blaine a hard kiss. Because he can. Because Blaine is going to be his husband. Because he wants to spend the rest of his life kissing his husband. And maybe it doesnât matter who sees it anymore. âYeah, Iâm sure.â Â
Blaineâs eyes twinkle. â...okay.âÂ
âSo, who is it thatâs going to be at this party? Is it one of the Bridgerton cast? Please tell me itâs one of the Bridgrton castâŚâ
âYouâll just have to wait and see.â
***
When Kurt finds Blaine, heâs seated on a lounge chair at the back of the club, scrolling through his phone. Kurt gives a smirk, and takes another sip from his champagne glass as he walks over. Blaine doesnât look up. Kurt slides onto his lap anyway. Blaine smirks as he finishes reading whatever is on his phone, then opens his arms to cradle Kurt. Kurt lays head on Blaineâs shoulder, and giggles into his champagne. Â
The club is hopping, there are a ton of famous people everywhere. Some people he knows personally. Most people he doesnât. Kurt doesnât really care. Thereâs so much going on that he and Blaine can be in their own secluded little bubble, and no one will really notice.Â
âHey you,â Blaine says, leaning his head against Kurtâs. Â
âHey.âÂ
âDid you get a chance to talk to-â
â...Yeah.âÂ
âYeah? Good?âÂ
âSo good,â Kurt coos. He snuggles closer into Blaine. âI canât wait to tell Rach. Sheâs been blowing up my phone, by the way. Iâm ignoring her for now, but you know sheâs going to be a beast when she sees us next. And I know what youâre thinking - youâre right, we should have stopped by and we didnât stop by and god this means weâre going to have to attend one of her murder mystery dinners and good lord there isnât enough alcohol to get me through one of those thingsâŚâ he stops short when he notices Blaineâs a bit dazed and not really listening. âYouâre being quiet.â Â
Blaine waits a beat and tries to shake it off. âJust thinking.â Â
Kurt brushes a stray hair off Blaineâs forehead. âAbout what? Are you feeling it -- that you, that we lost?â Â
âMaybe a little,â Blaine says. He looks tired more than disappointed though. âItâs fine, though. Next time, and I know there will be a next time, itâll happen. And then next time, Iâll be able to thank my husband.â He gives Kurtâs nose a little bop. âYou.â Â
âMmm, I like that,â Kurt hums. He brushes his nose against Blaineâs. âI get to marry you.â Â
âYou do.âÂ
âAnd move in with you.â Â
This gets a smile out of Blaine. âKurt, we practically live together now. Your apartment is more like a storage space.â Â
âOohh, we should keep it,â Kurt says. âItâll be like a secret hideaway.â Â
Blaine adoringly shakes his head at him. Yes, heâs had maybe too much to drink, but itâs still endearing to Blaine. âOr, a giant closet to keep all of your clothes.â
âThat is a smart idea,â Kurt says. âA very smart idea. Itâs a good thing Iâm keeping you.â Â
Blaine looks down at their hands. He takes the champagne glass from Kurt, finishes it, then places it on the table next to him. Then takes Kurtâs hand and laces his fingers with Kurtâs. âYou know, Kurt, I think you may be right. Thereâs a part of me thatâs not ready to give this up. Or share it.â Â
âSeeâŚâ Kurt snuggles, again, against Blaineâs shoulder. Feeling slightly vindicated. But then a heaviness falls between them. âDo you think things are going to be different tomorrow?âÂ
âYes.âÂ
The happy little bubble they were in begins to evaporate. âWe should probably call Tina then.â Â
âWell, if weâre going to do this, might as well do it right,â Blaine agrees.Â
Kurt gives him a little, suggestive smirk. âYeah⌠do it right.â Â
Kurt looks deeply into his eyes. Itâs scary how much he feels for this man. Itâs everything.Â
Blaine leans forward and kisses him. Itâs hard and sure and reaffirming. It doesnât matter that theyâre in public, in a place where everyone has a cellphone out. It doesnât matter that there are always repercussions to their actions. He just wants to be with Blaine and Blaine wants to be with him. For always. Â
âHey, Blaine?â Kurt says, dazed as they break apart. Â
âYeah?âÂ
âI wanna go home now.â Â
***
Back home, theyâre making out on the bed. Theyâre both half undressed, clothes haphazardly thrown around the room. Kurtâs on his back as Blaine hovers over him. The kisses are slow and measured and easy. Normally kissing has a means to an end. But Kurtâs happy to be in the moment, to just enjoy Blaineâs touch. Heâs in no hurry to chase other, more driving feelings. Â
âMmmm, Blaine?â Â
Blaine gives him an extra long kiss before responding. âYes?âÂ
Kurt grins. âI think I may have had too much to drink.â Â
Blaine stops, then rolls off him and onto his side, propping himself up on his elbow. âSomehow, Iâm not surprised.âÂ
Kurt stays on his back, staring at the ceiling. âI dunno if we can fool around tonight.â Â
âThatâs fine,â Blaine says gently. âWe have tomorrow completely open to fool around.â Â
Kurt lets out an amused laugh and turns his head towards Blaine, singing a little. âMmm, I love that idea.âÂ
Blaine is about to say something else when his phone lets out a little ping. He reaches behind him and grabs it to investigate. âOh, itâs Tina answering our message. She said sheâs happy to meet us tomorrow, just to let her know what time.â Â
âMake it Tuesday,â Kurt says, wiggling his eyebrows. âI am very booked tomorrow.â Â
Blaine lets out an easy laugh, and texts back Tina. Thereâs another ping. âTina is fine with that.â Heâs about to set his phone back down when another notification comes through. âOh, and she sent us a notice. We made a best dressed list.â Â
Kurt whips the phone out of Blaineâs hand. âHell yeah, we did.â He scrolls through the article. Heâs a bit too tired to read what theyâre saying, but thereâs a photo of them on the red carpet, doing the interview, looking very classy and best dressed indeed. He starts to scroll through, looking at the other celebrities. Â
âOoooh, itâs April Rhodes. See, I told you what she was wearing is to die for. You could totally--â
âNo,â Blaine says firmly, knowing exactly what Kurtâs thinking. Â
âYes,â Kurt whines a little. âWhat if I promise to give you a blowjob underneath itâŚâÂ
âTempting, but still a hard no, Kurt.â Â
Thereâs another ping from the phone. Kurt gets irrationally annoyed by it. âWhat does Tina want now? If she doesnât stop, Iâm going to make her watch our sex tape.â Â
Blaine gives him a look. There isnât a sex tape (yet) but heâd still punish Tina with it if there was. Blaine takes his phone back. âYou know, sheâd probably enjoy that.â Â
Kurt grumbles. âTrue.â Â
âNo, hey, itâs Rachel,â Blaine sits up a little. âOh no. Thereâs some buzz online. Some people saw us getting into the car together.â Â
âWell, thatâs annoying.â Kurt takes the phone again and reads through the website Rachel sent. Itâs nothing more than speculation and gossip, but the invasion of it feels more personal than it should. He isnât about to let it ruin his good evening. âYou know what? I have an idea. We control our own narrative.â He opens the camera app. âOkay, kiss me.âÂ
Blaine looks at him in shock. âWhat?â Â
âKiss me. Anywhere. Weâre taking a photo.â Â
Blaineâs eyes open wide. He understands exactly what Kurtâs doing. Itâs insane. Itâs crazy. Itâs a bit ridiculous. And he thinks in that moment, Blaine loves him just a little bit more. Blaine scooches closer, and kisses Kurtâs cheek. Kurt makes a cute face and snaps the photo. Â
Itâs not really the best photo theyâve ever taken, but itâs cute. Itâs candid. Itâs very them. Â
âAre you okay if I do this?â Kurt asks. Â
He probably should be more sober before doing this. But he knows he wonât regret it in the morning. Blaine, a very sober Blaine, gives him a nod. Kurt feels a swell of pride as he opens up Blaineâs Instagram app. He uploads the photo and adds a simple caption : still won tonight.  Â
He looks at Blaine and takes a deep breath before he hits upload. A shiver runs through him. He canât believe he just did that. But my god did it feel good. Â
âYou are amazing, Kurt Hummel,â Blaine says. He comes in close, giving Kurt a real kiss this time. âYou always continue to surprise me.âÂ
âWell, I just have to show you that you arenât the only impulsive one in this relationship,â Kurt says, throwing the phone to the end of the bed. He turns completely, giving Blaine a harder kiss. God, does he love this man. He will always love this man, no matter what happens. Â
âThe internet is going to roar tonight,â Blaine says. He caresses Kurtâs cheek, cups his chin and draws in for another kiss. âYou know that, right?âÂ
Kurt looks deeply into Blaineâs eyes, and sees forever. They are a team. Theyâre in this together. And no matter what tough road lies before them, at the end of the day, theyâve got each other. Kurt pulls Blaine close, and lovingly looks at the man who takes his breath away. Â
Welcome to my @klainesecretsanta2024 fic for the wonderful @little-escapist!
Your story 'Turn Into A Pose' is one of my all-time favorites, and I adore the music you used in it. Some of the songs were new to me, but theyâve since become part of my playlists! I hope this little story brings you some of the joy that your writing has always brought to me.
Your wish list was so inspiring that it inspired a multichapter fic featuring some of the themes you suggested: fan and celebrity dynamics, fake dating, a sprinkle of angst, and appearances from Mercedes and Cooper. I had so much fun weaving these elements together, and I hope itâs everything you were hoping for!
This story is my love letter to Christmas, to classic rom-coms and Hallmark movies. After the rough few weeks many of us have had, I hope it can bring some sweetness, light, and warmth to your holiday season.
Happy Holidays!

I was so happy when I saw your name! Your presence in this fandom means a lot to me. I'm glad you decided to join this event and I hope we get to read your beautiful stories for a long time to come.
Choosing to write for this event was⌠pretty bold of me, I guess. But when I got your wish list, I thought a fanfic would be the perfect gift for you, not a drawing. This made me sad at first, but then @esilher asked, "So why don't you write something?"

hi I'm back with the final chapter, wanted to finish it and post it sooner but life got in the way anyways here it be:
New Adventures Summer Camp
Ch. 14/14
The last couple weeks of Kurtâs summer simply flew by. His days had been filled with preparing for his move to New York and spending time with Blaine. Yes, they spent the rest of the summer still finding every excuse to spend time togetherâ dinner dates and movie nights and shopping days and afternoons spent in the pool at Blaineâs house (okay, âhouseâ was more like âmini-mansionâ...Blaine hadnât been kidding when he mentioned that his family had money, but he never said that they were rich rich) and really just any little excuse to be together. Even now, as Kurt was packing the last of his things to go to New York, Blaine had come over to help him pack. Though, Blaine âhelpingâ quickly turned into Blaine distracting him with kisses every couple minutes, which soon turned into lying on Kurtâs bed making out, which meant that there was still more packing that needed to be done.Â
Blaine whined when Kurt pulled away and moved off the bed for a couple minutes to finish packing his things.Â
âBabe. Please donât do the puppy dog eyes again, I need to finish packing,â Kurt pleaded.Â
âFine,â Blaine pouted. âI wish you didnât have to pack right nowâŚâ
âI know, I wish I didnât have to either, but I leave for New York tomorrow,â Kurt reminded him.
âI still canât believe that you leave tomorrow morning already,â Blaine remarked. âIâm starting to miss you already..â

Character: Kurt H., Blaine A.
Blaine first meets the mysterious Kurt Hummel at his brotherâs engagement party, and heâs immediately struck by the quiet, handsome stranger. He doesnât expect their paths to cross again, but when life gives an unexpected turn, Kurt might be the only one with the power to help him save everything he cares about.
The first time Blaine saw Kurt Hummel was at his older brotherâs engagement party.
It was a very lovely night, still warm for the end of September, and both drinks and food were flowing freely in the cozy yet expensive restaurant Cooper and Joanna had chosen for the occasion, the one where theyâd had their first date a few years ago, where Cooper had stopped, just outside the doors after dinner, and kissed her as pedestrians swerved around them, as the Manhattan traffic played for them like a symphony. He hadnât been able to wait until they were at her doorstep, Cooper had told Blaine the next day. He just knew he had to kiss her right then and there, afraid there wouldnât be another chance, afraid the magic would be spoiled.
There was music playing and a space had been cleared amongst the tables to allow for some dancing. For a few minutes, Blaine stood with his champagne glass and watched as couples danced, a little smile on his face, maybe a wisp of wistfulness behind his hazel eyes. But there would be time for that, he told himself as he turned to find his brother.
For a while, Blaine was distracted, chatting amicably with friends and colleagues, making sure everyone was having a nice time. It felt like it was his duty as best man to make sure this night went wonderfully for both Cooper and Joanna.
