things i noticed on my trap rewatch
[cooper x lady raven focus]
β’ when lady raven is giving her speech about releasing those who have wronged you cooper looks around. like he cant believe people are eating it up. like sheβs naive for believing this. he even mouths the word βwow.β
β’ there are some moments where cooper exaggerates his head bobbing when riley is looking, but when she looks away he doesnt stop. he kinda nods along, not as expressive but he does. like he enjoys it, the music
β’ when cooper sees lady raven backstage heβs sort of passive, just staring at her with no thought, observing her. when she helps up the assistant that fell his eyes are wide, like shes piqued his interest. and when he sees her use her inhaler itβs like something in him switches. his eyes are still wide but his posture straightens out. the camera shot changes too. itβs suddenly a close-up, only showing half of coopers face. this is done two more times during the film. itβs to help the audience better connect with the characters thoughts and motives. a close up shows what other shots cannot, intimacy. he briefly glances at the thinker and looks back at lady raven. his jaw is tense and he cannot take his eyes off of her. and like what cooper said in the film, when he saw her use her inhaler he got the urge. what is interesting is that after that, every shot focusing on lady raven was somewhat through coopers pov. we see her from between the curtains, symbolizing coopers new perspective of her. like he is a predator waiting in the bushes. like a lion waiting for a gazelle, a wolf waiting for a deer. we see her from his side spot on the stage as well, never from the crowd after that
β’ i like how cooper felt the need to tell lady raven that her performance was great whilst he is threatening his hostage.
β’ when they are in the limo cooper is looking at lady raven with some sort of cockiness. like he has the upper hand on her. while she looks at him with a hardened expression, like she isnt letting him win.
β’ when lady raven asks to drop them off at the house and coopers expression hardens and his smile drops while riley starts fangirling. and how she makes a comment of cooper just sitting there so coopers gives her a strained smile. and lady raven gives him a slight smile.
β’ the way cooper looks at lady raven when sheβs first introduced to the family. he keeps on moving his jaw like heβs irritated. his eyes are dark and his eyebrows are twitching
β’ when lady raven mention the concert not being like a normal concert coopers eye twitches. when lady raven says the butcher made a mistake, cooper looks up, like heβs thinking. like he knows he didnt make a mistake.
β’ when lady raven says βnot yetβ when rachel asks if theyβve caught the butcher and her eyes go to cooper. and cooper just gives her a smile
β’ coopers eyes start watering up when lady raven nears the end of βwhere did she go.β when sheβs done he lowers his guard and swallows, like he has to regain his composure. he even breathes in deeply. this moment allows lady raven to snatch his phone.
β’ the look of amusement in coopers face when lady raven starts her psychological defense.
β’ lady raven was going to be his last kill (if they got away in that moment). βiβll just do this one last one, and then iβll kill myself. itβs the only way to stop the monster.β heβs choosing lady raven to be his last kill, and heβs going to die along side her. he was going to murder-suicide with her.
β’ when the police raided the house cooper didnβt escape and run away. he didnβt take his chance to flee. instead he knocked out a swat member and stole his uniform to get to lady raven.
some may call it obsession, i say itβs a different kind of love
