CONFIDENT : A trait that developers & voice actors have shared (such as Jose Merino, Michael Gough & Yoshiaki Hirabayashi) is that Osmund exudes a calm air of superiority. He is NOT a traditional mustache-twirling villain, he does not exhibit all the main stereotypes; being one-dimensional, of limited intelligence, evil for the lulz, snapping at his henchmen, etc. Osmund does not need to brutishly throw around his own strength to prove himself to his kingdom, he accomplishes so by his own certainty. He is cool, ironic, smooth, & does not present any viable vulnerabilities under most pressures. He is not temperamental or volatile, nor does he voice panic when facing death. How detached & indifferent he reacts from many external threats is perceived as imposing to others. If Osmund desires a certain outcome, at first he is subtle, such as handing over an ampoule instead of forcibly injecting the syringe... before implementing more threatening measures.

EDUCATED : Shockingly, Osmund is not medieval-minded & very open to technological adaptation & advancement. Ancient rituals are combined with modern sciences to progress the propagation of Las Plagas. While he participates in & upholds his own culture, he weaponizes the tradition of Los Iluminados, as humanity was destined to be crushed under total ego-death to form a more ideally balanced ecosystem. As a character he is masterfully studied on international politics, & while such a gross amount of historical knowledge & where he obtains it is a mystery, his beliefs, ideology & motivation are not rooted in a lack of global awareness. While he is physically isolated to his own colony, he is not psychologically, & it is plausible that he is keen to B.O.W. controversies & quarantine zones as a result.

PREDATORY : Las Plagas is psychologically invasive as well as physically & Osmund enforces his total authority the same way. Bodily autonomy is incapable with parasitism & Osmund sees / treats his subjects much like offspring he sired, referring to them as children & himself as their parent. Once a human is turned, there is almost always complete death of the individual, very rarely does a host cling onto genuine remnants of prior consciousness. The power he promises & forcibly imposes is intoxicating, it blurs & twists agony into ecstasy, to the length that one cannot pray for release - the parasite is infamous for its vile temptations. As a villain he is dehumanizing & does not value the will of human bodies, seeing them as little more but potential vessels (incubators) for Las Plagas to spread. The tension he radiates is sexual; Osmund's mannerisms are seductive, his disciples are clad in masochistic bondage, he gives praise intimately (i.e. moaning to express approval), expresses desires to inflict sadism & speaks overtly suggestive, such as referring to the eggs he implants as his seed. This specific element will be elaborated more upon in a later analysis discussing canonical inspiration taken from The Thing, so while he is sexual, it's always in a parasitic-violence context.

SUPPRESSED : A facet he is noted to have is that he is constantly simmering, building tension over a long period of time until the inevitable catalyst bubbles over his boiling point. Osmund is a monster that is beholden to inhuman rage & resentment, but it is hardly, if ever, expressed openly - what drives him to madness in particular is the blaspheme or destruction of the Almighty's "gifts". Osmund is a creature that is bound by a torturous urge to reproduce, yet assimilates under the guise of ritual communion behind temple doors, not out indiscriminately in the open. How his many layers of ostentatious robe hide deadly tentacles with claws, Osmund's charismatic & gentle smile hides a sick thrill for alien or malicious intent. He is shrouded in emotional masks, performing the persona of a frail old man when his body is a living weapon. You can observe hints in snarls of his lips, twitches of his eyes, or the occasional gruff in his cadence. The Lord of Las Plagas is a biological coil, once the highly compressed cells unravel, his mutation & power explode violently in a gruesome display of self-mortification. Unlike his Ganado brethren, Osmund has mastered the art of discipline.

SHEVA ALOMAR & OSMUND SADDLER. Apologies for how long it took me to get to this: The Ndipaya were SEVERELY underutilized & that is something I would absolutely love to explore between Sheva & Osmund. Beyond the tribespeople, the only group which still upholds cultural practices dating back to the days of Ndipaya kings is Los Iluminados! This has been known for quite some time, but Las Plagas is a very ancient organism, & the original infected(?) / worshippers(?) of said organism began in Kijuju. There are environmental details of the parasites desiccated within the Ndipaya temple, & within the remake iteration Los Iluminados incorporates Progenitor flowers within their murals. This is completely glossed over narratively. The true story behind the initial downfall of Ndipaya is left pretty ambiguous, but the main two theories is that they were exposed to a parasitic organism unintentionally by messing around with it & began an outbreak as a result, OR, they were attempting to harness Las Plagas as the first type of "biological weapon" to use against other humans & their arrogance resulted in their own destruction. I have analyzed previously that Osmund has traceable ancestry to Kijuju (although it would be VERY FAR ancestry), & he would be familiar with their celebrations, commemorations, etc. & how war is very central to their culture.

ZENO & OSMUND SADDLER. Osmund mistaking Zeno in a case of mistaken identity for Albert in a thread would be hilarious for me (in terms of canonical world-building) as The Connections had no involvement regarding Valdelobos in the years 1997-2004 regarding the theft of plaga specimens to create imitation B.O.W.s & in 2012-2013 regarding the government sanctions, unethical experimentation & slaughter of Ganado. + it would likely infuriate Zeno to be mistaken for one of Umbrella's leftovers AGAIN despite how much he tries to distance himself. Osmund would profusely apologize for any hostile behavior initially UNTIL it becomes evident Zeno is part of a shadowy organization which puppets the United States government, then it's back to punching him repeatedly in the face & throttling his throat for being an imperialist piece of shit.

JILL VALENTINE & OSMUND SADDLER. For Jill in particular, besides threads which would lean into hostile combat-based territory, I would agree to him putting their differences aside temporarily to hunt down & kill Albert Wesker, or any of his surviving imitations such as Zeno. Osmund is a terrorist, but their goals do align on that front, & Osmund would not personally stand in her way. Albert ruining their lives is something they both share & he wouldn't mind discussing that grievance in an interaction. For longer term threads, I would need to sit on that a bit more & how that would play out besides protagonist vs. antagonist fighting.

ROSEMARY WINTERS & OSMUND SADDLER. I've been meaning to write these two ever since Resident Evil 8 released, honestly. Osmund is really the only other character who "understands" her & the struggles she encounters with humans, as she's the second character in the franchise to be born already a mutant. Other characters were changed well later after already having a "normal" childhood experience free of human / mutant bigotry. I don't mind if it's with Rosemary when she is a baby (as Osmund has dealt with children fine, no, he does not kill all children, that is a misconception), or when she is a grown teenager, but in her later years / in a future AU setting would be more preferable. Human / mutant bigotry & how they choose to deal with that environment is very specific to these two characters. OSMUND SADDLER GETTING HIS JUST DESSERTS. I've already plotted with a mutual about a possibility that I still need to respond too (but alas I have writer's block ATM I'm trying to get over), but I'm always down for Osmund being hunted by mercenaries, imprisoned, etc. what have you! Establishing him in a nearly powerless positions always intrigue me, sometimes it gets a little repetitive to write him as one of the strongest or THE strongest in the room! Osmund has established weaknesses & I'm fine with muses using them to their advantages. INTERROGATIONS & INTERVIEWS. It doesn't need to be from any particular character, but I adore threads where a pre-established, non-physically hostile meeting is agreed to take place. I love it when muses ask Osmund questions personally about his background & learn information from him as a result. I enjoy depicting Osmund when he deliberately tempers himself when dealing with an innocent civilian or one who contacted him first for communication, as it's a very rare side of him to see, when he isn't being ostentatious in a nefarious way. If I were to pick anyone, I would likely say Alyssa Ashcroft, Grace Ashcroft, or Claire Redfield, so if you write these characters, you can propose me a setting anytime.

LEON KENNEDY & OSMUND SADDLER. A thread I would like to do is hold Leon accountable for the corrupt system he perpetuates. Leon is complicit in many government coverups to preserve himself & the lives of his closest friends, while thousands upon thousands of innocent civilians suffer internationally, & this is not acknowledged at all narratively & how much blood rests on his hands. It was understandable after 1998 & the early 2000's, but now? Several decades & he still hasn't figured a way out under the governments thumb when Jack Krauser did in less than 2 years? I don't believe Leon suffers as an unwilling participant at this point, & for obvious reason, Osmund would not either. TRICELL was not exposed which resulted in Resident Evil 5. Leon was present for the remake iteration of Operation Javier & did nothing when he & Jack Krauser's unit was wiped out. There are many different instances I can number off & how he uses Claire Redfield & Sherry Birkin (who are both grown woman capable of handling themselves) as cop-out excuses reeks of just... blegh. Doesn't matter if it's through killing or torture, but Leon needs a taste of his own medicine & how it feels to be a shoe on the other foot without having the privileges of the United States government & military complex backing him up. I want Osmund to come back as a living ghost of his past & deservedly kick his ass, if not worse.

A TIME FROM HIS BANISHMENT. I would like to write a thread (possibly in the realm of an AU, whichever works) that explores the ancient city of Sanctuary. The topic isn't really discussed at all unless it is in relation to Resident Evil 5, but I do want to discover his history being a victim of colonization & genocide & how that contributes to his ideologies of loathing humanity. Osmund was grossly dehumanized based upon human prejudice, not from being raised in an experimental laboratory setting. The "othering" he experiences is why he detests such companies like Umbrella.

A TIME FROM HIS ESCAPE. This plays off the former, but can also occur in his later years, post 2004, in an AU in which he resurrects / survives. I would like him to explore the world, meet a myriad of different characters & overall clash with them (or befriend them if possible). I don't have a strong preference towards who, but I find human characters to be the most compelling. Ironically enough, Osmund would have the best rapport with human civilians who he believes to be misguided victims of their current administration.

A TIME FROM HIS IMPRISONMENT. Something I've never depicted before is his enslavement under Diego The Severe, which would require a writer for Diego himself, Ramon Salazar, or possibly The Merchant. I want to emphasize through writing the horror of his background & that it wasn't a single tragedy which shaped him for who he is, but CENTURIES of generational oppression & experienced suppression. How his background ties into canonical Francoism would also be a nice touch, but there aren't many roleplayers I know who are comfortable depicting these types of ideologies within threads. As a compromise, I would be willing to do "threads" via anonymous exchanges via the inbox, that way these ideologies aren't assigned to any particular roleplayer.

ASHLEY GRAHAM & OSMUND SADDLER. In a universe where Osmund Saddler was not killed & instead taken into United States government custody so they could interrogate + silence him for how much corruption he & Jack Krauser brought to light, I would like to explore Ashley Graham confronting him on her experienced trauma when she's gotten older, more educated on international politics & more exposed to bioterrorism. Just as Raccoon City is Leon's personal psychological foil, Los Iluminados is for Ashley.

I imagine realistically that Ashley lived a very privileged & sheltered life & either wasn't aware of the horrors of GWOT which was enacted under her father & his administration, or she was fed a plethora of misinformation & propaganda to believe that all missions pertaining to GWOT were justified. When she becomes independent & isn't hovered over by government officials, perhaps she uncovers this + other corruption for herself which leaves a very sour taste in her mouth. Deeply inside, maybe she reflects on a few of Lord Saddler's words, "No longer will the United States think they can police the world forever," or, "Incessant war, suffering, and man turns a blind eye to the atrocities created, the blood on their hands, even now," & thinks to herself for a moment that maybe he had a point? Maybe these extremist groups opposing the United States are doing so for justifiable reasons, even if their approach is deeply flawed? Why are the details of these international missions, such as Operation Javier, & their war crimes upon their own civilians & soldiers washed from public eyes?

Not that discovering this corruption would completely erase her trauma inflicted by him, but it would twist Osmund in a different light & emphasize that he doesn't attack indiscriminately (unlike other antagonists who do) & hyper-focuses upon corporations & contractors which influence international governments. Osmund, unlike Glenn Arias for an example, does not desire for the entire world to burn - even if he had succeeded in his own goal, he would still be operating from the shadows.

If Ashley had succeeded in becoming an agent like Leon, inevitably, she would begin to understand that she is perpetuating the same cycle of bioterrorism that she wants to stop & that her own administration holds most of the blame for that, parading itself as a false beacon of hope & justice. Although it wouldn't excuse or reframe her loss of bodily autonomy through Las Plagas, if there was any attempt to go rogue or to devise a plan of attack against the United States (including The Connections & The Family), Los Iluminados would be a good starting point as they actually succeeded in cleaning house all three branches of government, political assassinations, & calculated kidnappings without directly targeting innocent civilians. This would not redeem Osmund in any way, but could theoretically provide Ashley some closure using a very unconventional method.
