YAY, of course! Here are some general ones from various types of genres!

The miniaturist by Jessie Burton This is a historical fiction novel set in Amsterdam in 1600′s. We follow a girl who is married off to this older rich dude and she recieves a cabinet version of their house as a wedding gift from it. She starts to order miniature furniture and stuff for the cabinet from a local miniaturist. But mysterious things starts to happen when the objects that she recieves resemble her personal life. 

This book is amazing. A great historical atmosphere, wonderful likeable characters and a tone of mystery. Also it’s definately a feminist read and overall a book about acceptance and self discover. Plus there’s a tv show being made I think. Read it. 

The shock doctrine by Naomi Klein 

I’m currently reading this one and people never recommend non-fiction on Tumblr so here I am. This is a non-fiction book about what Naomi Klein describes as “the rise of disaster capitalism” and it discusses how different countries adapted this “pure capitalist” system, with minimal control from the state. Naomi Klein’s point is basically that it has always happened with violence of some sort. I’m pretty nerdy about this stuff (tbh I am extremely nerdy haha) but I think this one is quite easy to understand and since it’s mostly about history, it’s almost told like a story. A fair warning though that it’s very sad, it speaks a lot about torture and dictatorship, which is terrifying but this book is super important to read I think. 

The body electric by Beth Revis 

This is a YA science fiction novel that has not got loads of attention but I think it’s the kind of book that a lot of different people wood enjoy. We follow our main character Ella, who lives on a future Malta, and she is pretty cool since she can enter people’s dreams through this machine that has been built. Though shit starts to happen when she realize that something weird has happened to her own memory and that’s basically all I can say without spoiling the whole book but it’s a sci-fi stand alone and it’s amazing. Massive plot twist near the end, be aware. 

Through the woods by Emily Carroll

This is a mega scary graphic novel. If I remember correcly we have five different shorter horror stories and they are beautifully drawn with cool and unique plots. And it’s very scary. So don’t read it at night if you’re sensitve but I would highly recommend it, it was so much fun to read it.
