In China, Lan Wangji does not get the opportunity to use English often, unless there are overseas tourists. Unfortunately, due to his apparently “sour” face, most tourist shy away from asking him. But the deed is done, and the American knits his brows together in concentration, as if he is replaying what Wangji said.

His words are heavily American-accented, and Wangji’s eyes twitch a little at how... absurdly his name is butchered. He was ready for mispronunciations of course, but due to his previous mistake, it is far worse than he expected.

He takes his hand and shakes it and Wangji stares at it, dumbfounded.
“C’mon, don’t give that glum face! If you like your name so much, I’ll call you Wang instead, yeah?”
That is not the issue, but before Wangji could say that, a mischievous glint shows up in the other’s face, and somehow he has a feeling that he’s going to feel very tired in the end of the day. “I can call you that, but you know,” the other drops his voice. “Wang means dick here.”

For the next six months of exchange, he gains a total of four names. Lance. Lance Z. Wang. And... Dick.
Wangji does not know when exactly the last one caught on, but he cannot be bothered to find out either.
