With @eastaustraliancurrent 's fic now being the one in fandom (that I am aware of) that has used the name "Caleb" for Mr Pink aside from my own, and with the hopes of more fics of mine to come with that name, I feel it's fair to share with people outside of my personal group how that name came to be associated with Mr Pink.

The year is probably 2023 when @callmepastah first installs into my head the concept of PinkxWhitexOrange as a throuple. The thought sticks the landing and evolves, thus we spend our time exchanging headcanons and talking to lengths about the concept (@yuppushipstheloneliestships is also to blame for a lot of my initial brainstorming ideas and althought they came later on I feel it's only fair to mention them because of it).

Of course, the subject of Pink's name comes up.

Pasta says: "He looks like someone who has a terrible name you can't shorten". I agree with that sentiment.

Now, I'd recently rewatched (and got very angsty over) East of Eden, the first feature film starring James Dean. Because of that, I go ahaed and propose the name 'Aaron', which is the name of James Dean's brother in that movie. Pasta scrunches their nose.

Now, the name itself is shortened in the movie multiple times, but I go ahaed and also propose the name of the character played by James Dean himself. "How about Caleb?", I ask.

My friend tests it out, likes the sound of it.

Few days later, it was clear we'd found the one. It's stayed that way ever since.
