I don't think I will ever understand the dutch attirude towards biking helmets. like "oh but we've got good infrastructure" and "our drivers aren't assholes" and "we know how to ride bikes" okay? none of these things make biking helmets obsolete?

I don't care much about what's on TV but I'm genuinely happy Sampo Marjomaa is back to hosting a funiest home video type show for the simple reason of his show, in specific, being a celebration of the art of translation. The ppl on the videos mostly speak English and the subs are fucking 20/10, an example of whath happens when you can just do your job and have fun. The subs just said "moiQQu".

I don't think I will ever get over the fact that the Finnish word for pairing up two electronic devices (such as your phone and your wireless headphones) is the same word that's used for pimping.

I've been trying to figure out for years what it is about Fairy commercials that bothers me (other than the fact that they are annoying as shit) but I finally figured out what it is. they emphasise how well Fairy works on grease, but then they show an animated sponge swiping over a pan that's clearly got protein burnt into it? and the message is that Fairy is so efficient with grease it makes washing difficult dishes easy and you don't need to soak them etc but it's not the grease that's the problem to begin with with the dishes they show???

growing up into an actual adult when you are ND is, in part, a process of realising some things are not only perfectly fine but also just normal shit that people do. like people like to talk about how OH you want to keep your food separated? you don't want the cold and the warm stuff to touch? you don't want that savoury things that's for "main course" to spread over your sallad? oh wow! and then suddenly you are an adult and you are going to eat lunch with your work group in a work place cafeteria that has a buffet style set up and you've always settled for eating either only the sallad so you don't need to deal with this but today they are serving what's basically your favourite food so you gather your courage and ask the person by the counter if it would be acceptable to first get the sallad and then return for the warm stuff so you don't need to put them on the same plate and they chuckle warmly, not maliciously, and tell that of course it is fine and that people do it all the time.

I love it when you are some place public and someone with a service dog enters the space and they stand besides you and you are doing your best to ignore the dog (by completely ignoring the dog) but you feel their snout sniffing your leg and touching your hand before also ignoring you and you are there like. Well I didn't touch the DOG, the dog touched me 🤷

I'm visiting my parents and apparently their interner provider is switching out of the type of modems that use the phone lines so they had gotten a new one and so I had to reconnect all the devices in the house and as a part of that, I opened my mothers computer. I looked at the bg photo like. why the hell does she have what appears to be a lukio graduation stockphoto or some shit as her desktop bg????? until I slowly recognised my own face. it's my graduation photo 🙃

As someone who grew up in a Karelian household, I don't think I will ever understand the concept of semi weet bread or sweet bread. Why is it bread if it's sweet? What makes it bread? ???

I had a french speaking couple as customers today and as I don't speak French, we used English. They had wished to find frames that look unique or have a bit of colour but we needed to find frames with a wide nose bridge and all the colourful frames we have are...... small. I did my best to find a word other than "petit" to use because I had this sudden, intense feeling that if I said "petit", it would sound like I was trying to throw in a French word. I couldn't think of another word fast enough to use something else.
