Snoring is the sound caused by vibrating tissues in the airways of the nose and throat while we breathe as a result of muscle relaxation. It is the turbulent airflow that we call snoring. Snoring is not generally a medical concern but sleep apnea is definitely a medical condition that requires diagnosis and treatment. The lapses in breathing (up to 100 times per hour) are sensed by the brain as a lack of oxygen, which then causes a loud “restart” that is a sort of snoring.
