Yukiko Meikai was born right as another life was taken. Her mother’s. Yup. Mrs Meikai passed away in childbirth. Her father was basically inconsolable, and turned to working all the time. It didn’t help he also turned to drinking. So a lot of Yukiko’s childhood was full of learning life skills very early. She had to care for herself and for her father. Dragging him to at least sleep on the couch, having to hear him talk about her mother and helping him the morning after.
It certainly didn’t help that her school life wasn’t so good either. Yukiko was frequently bullied and harassed by other students. She turned to art and writing during these times, it’s how she gained those hobbies.
At some point, subconsciously, Yukiko was spiraling into depression. But she toughed it out. Because her father can’t lose one more person, because who’s gonna take of him then? Doesn’t mean she didn’t still resort to other measures.
Nearing the end of Yukiko’s high school years, she got a call in the middle of heading home. Her father’s in the hospital. Seems all those years of ocasional smoking and the drinking lord knows what have caught up to him.
Her father passes away a few monthes later. No matter what she did, she STILL couldn’t stop this.
Seems she really is a ‘bad luck charm’ as all the children at her school insisted. Or else why would the two people who cared for her have died?
The last straw was her getting rejected from the few colleges she had applied to. She had hoped that maybe she could at least pursue her dreams right? No, she is not even allowed that. She’s not asking for much, is she? She just wants to have a normal life.
The day she got sent to Twisted Wonderland was the day she was going to attempt. The black carriage took care of that before she could however.
Getting to Twisted Wonderland… she was obviously shocked at getting sent to a whole new world but… still glad for the fresh new start.
