HUMAN AFTER ALL...

He was staring a little too much. After this ruckus with some obvious clash of interests, it was a given that not everyone would get along with... themselves. Akira knew for a fact his own normal self would reject the devilman. So that is why he could not help himself in this situation.

He feared.

Not for himself, but for the other him.

Ever since the moment his own self split, he knew for a fact that there was no way to convince the other of cooperating. Death hung up on their heads, one had faced it  -- a phantom pain carved in the middle of his body. Whilst the other lead a life Akira (the demon, the monster, the saviour-- a devilman) envied, he knew that robbing him of it would be unfair. Yet, what he was doing seemed more crueler than the truth.

Wings laid wide, while he looked above the corner of a building. He was rather annoyed, as his other self had ran off somewhere into the Red Light District of the Cotes Ward. A terrible choice in his opinion, as well the bad aftertaste it could bring to his mouth given his first and last experience there.

“He’s not going to enjoy it here at all. Their memories might cross and his fight with Silene was quite -- Akira shook his head, a hand going through his hair in an attempt to keep himself composed. When he looked back, he found another person that seemed to have the same idea as he did. 

a little late oops but.

akira is just your regular high schooler. part of the track team. he’s not the best, of course. so, in brief words. he’s a joth.

he was hot (tm) since the beginning so he is fairly popular at school. he isn’t quite oblivious about it but he already has feelings for someone. he’s pretty cliche. 

ryo asuka, his childhood friend, isn’t present but keeps contact with him. letters, email, text. any form of contact.

he moved in with the makimura’s earlier in but he decided to move out to spirale in order to have some independency. both the makimura’s and his parents supported this decision.

“My my. Even when you’re aaaaa~ll trapped in this place against your will, you still find reason to celebrate such a boring holiday? Fufu. Maybe humanity does enjoy being treated like cute, pathetic little pigs.”

☆ . “ya’ know what, for the holiday season, i’ll accept this. it’s been compared to worse. ‘m the bitch pullin’ santa’s sleigh, lads.” 

☆ . “my birthday is in like… two weeks. am i the true christmas gift, given to the world?” 

   ► SHE doesn’t hesitate to return the hug. “I missed you, Akira.”

Words remain stuck in his throat, he is not sure where to begin nor how to end -- feeling her so close again, her heartbeat and warmth against his body -- he trembled, afraid she would slip away and this was nothing but a cruel prank. If it is, then he had to muster the strength and speak up, despite his tearful voice,

   ► GASP. “Akira! You’re here too?!”

   ► “COME to think of it I don’t think I’ve seen a demon at all since I’ve come here.”

“Yeah I know. I thought all this time that it was okay… I don’t want to hurt anyone, none of us do. We just wanted to be idols, so I thought even in a worst case, maybe, people could accept us…” She was just rambling to a stranger she didn’t even know, but he didn’t seem like he was uncomfortable by her undead appearance so she would merely count her blessings.

“I just don’t know what to do. If I can’t alleviate the anxieties of the people then I’ll never be able to live here peacefully. Even if I disguise myself eventually someone else will find out, and then it’s only a matter of time… So… I don’t know. I know it’s not your problem, mister, but I don’t have anyone else to talk to.”

“We can’t control how people react, they got their own prejudices. Doesn’t mean you’ll have to die for them just coz they don’t like you.” Oh, had he seen enough of this. The mere notion of this girl suffering such kind of fate was not something he can allow. He was determined on protecting this city and its inhabitants one way or another.

“It really hurts when someone tells you to go die, right?”

“It still hurts if you’re already undead and you’re told you should just go back to being dead… by someone you thought you could be friends with.” Curled up in a ball under a bridge, her clothes were battered and torn. She hadn’t gone to her apartment. Why would she? It’d just be more of the same.

“I think it hurts more… What’s the point of having dreams if no matter what you’ll just be hunted? If you can’t even befriend a girl your own age? Why am I even here?”

“It sure does, huh... ” And when they try to kill you it is even worse but he can’t really dampen this girl’s mood, she looked so down even her face kinda was rotting away. (That had to be his imagination, right?) “You shouldn’t blame yourself for being here. It’s not like you asked for it.” Akira wasn’t expecting to be brought back and he had his own doubts. However, it was nobody’s fault to exist and to be who they were. He understood it better than anyone else as a devilman. “Well, I don’t really know the answer to your question.” He had a lot of doubts himself, plenty of fear -- so instead he tried to stand tall and support another ...struggling individual with a very human heart.

“But it’s not wrong wanting to live.”

“Never mind joining that.”
