So there's this film called We Bought A Zoo that I watched with my wife, where Dad McGotdivorced decides to one-up the other divorced dads by not merely taking his kids to a zoo but fucking BUYING a failing zoo which Daughter Sweetiepants is very on board with but Son Grumpteen is super unhappy about being taken to live in the arse end of fucking nowhere where he can't see his friends easily. The zoo comes with a load of staff, including Obvious Love Interest played by Scarlett Johansson. Anyway at one point Grumpteen accidentally opens then leaves the lid loose on a massive shipment of exotic snakes as one does, and the next morning there's fucking snakes everywhere. He's upset with himself about this but also just upset in general as the extra stress is a reminder that he never wanted to live on a fucking zoo anyway. In anger, he kicks a random snake-shaped bit of rope.

I should explain that when I watch films with my wife they're on a meh-size screen quite a long way away. It's as if I'm holding my phone at arms length, and I have both long arms and a smallish phone by modern standards. It was very clear even to me that this kid just booting a random piece of rope.

The next shot is Scarlett Zoohansson looking at this kid with a "what the fuck is wrong with you" look. Like she's really shocked and judging this kid for what he just did to a random piece of rope.

So after skipping back and watching again we concluded this rope was supposed to represent a snake and what the film was portraying is that this kid because he was having a bad day took it out by punting a fucking snake. And Zoolett Zoohansson iis looking at him like that because what the fuck kid, don't punt the fucking snakes.

And this is why me and my wife now both laugh at any mention of "do not punt the snakes".
