Trying different art style studying artists i liked, focus was on color so i think i passed somewhat when it comes to that but not really liking the full execution and lineart is okay. Love the subtle contrasts though very silly and comforting

hello fellow artists. google has fallen. pinterest/duckduckgo AI filters don't work. do not despair; here is a list i made of places to find reference images without having to sift through piles of worthless garbage. (for future editing convenience i am just linking my blog post on dreamwidth.)

I just discovered that there was a person who was afab and ended up joining the russian army by the name of Alexander Durov in 1806.
Born a woman, Nadezhda Durova (birth name) ran away from home and joined a light cavallery regiment dressed as a man.
After his identity was uncovered, the russian tsar summoned him to the palace at St. Petersburg, where he impressed the tsar so much that he awarded Durov the Cross of St. George and promoted him to lieutenant in a hussar unit.
He always referred to himself as a man and was upset when people called him a woman.
He signed letters with his male last name.
He expressed feelings of disgust towards his sex and how that worried him a lot.
He never married willingly and adopted many dogs and cats.
He only danced with women when attending a ball.
He asked to be buried under his male name Alexander Andreevich Alexandrov but the church did not agree to that.
I never saw him in "historical transmasculine people" compilations and only discovered his story coincidentally.
Unfortunately, historians still adress him with female pronouns, although he did not want that.
Let's remember him together. We won't allow him to be forgotten.
I'll probably add onto this post later or make a better one but you can read a lot on this wikipedia article:
this is disrespectful
here's another good article about him
god the poor man. being more or less "out" to many people during his lifetime got him misgendered almost constantly, he made his feelings on the matter clear...and scholars still won't stop doing it
Aleksandrov was irate, writing to Pushkin “the name which you called me [his deadname], dear sir Aleksandr Sergeevich, in the preface haunts me! Is there no remedy for my grief? You called me by that name that makes me shudder, and soon 20,000 people will read it and call me by it too!”
pronouns and name expressed in life are the person's correct pronouns and name! respect them!
Hey!
They have since updated the wikipedia and now shows he/him for the entire article. A step in the right direction. Still has problems though.

What I want for Pride Month
My soon to be actual commission post <3 WIP
Animal crossing 💕
Never got to play it except on mobile but love the art and characters and game, always loved and played harvest moon so it felt close to home
Nothing prepares you for growing up the loner but on every body’s mind and everyone’s therapist or benefactor, weird extra nice black girl that learned to abandon herself to be present and make room for everyone else and was the family’s little golden perfect holy doormat of an angel that fed their ego, and portraits of being saintly caring folk who took on the problems and traumas of everyone else to feed their own, while your siblings were already broken but trying, being torn apart but well kept enough to keep the stitches and seams, fresh enough and not visibly strained as they used them too to build up their reputation and drained them just the same. Your siblings learn to neglect themselves long before you follow in their footsteps, your older sister burdens herself more and hates her own existence, she marries someone else to carry her pain and add to it, just the same, passing her sadness and anger onto her kids, the same ones you grow up and are raised with. Your brother being pushed in sports and his achievements treated like extra credit, he was more like a parent most of the time that it was hard to forget it. Pushed to try to find his crowd in people who only wanted to take advantage of him and pushed to take responsibility for what your own dad didn’t. You notice how unnatural it was for everything to be so perfect or at least so it seemed, the perfected conditioning that it was. It was really emotionally and psychologically heart breaking.

Our “spiritual wallet” is the capacity at which we are willing and able to open ourselves up to what we deserve and what’s there for us rather than letting it go to waste or hiding from it.
A. Not only does this connect us to the world and allow it to care for us but also shifts our focus away from a mindset of lack and toward a deep realization of abundance. It allows us to see that there is always more than enough available if we look for it and use what’s already available to us. This is what is taught when we learn gratitude and learn how to be more resourceful in our lives. We learn and see where in our lives do we allow things to go to waste or diminish its value until it’s gone or in a worse condition than when it was present in our lives.
2. I know I don’t need to explain what as physical wallet is but when it comes to finances many people don’t take how they handle it seriously until there is a need to do so or understand the role money plays in our lives or how finances really work where we are from and other alternatives ways to support and exchange within our own vicinity.
A. Not only is it important to learn budgeting, learn and seek out government assistance and what is available in terms of support, and to understand how to forward and grow our own careers or start one within an already established company, but also to learn what tools are at our disposal and can help us when we face difficult situations regarding what we spend and how and how we make money.
Everyone should learn how to budget, create emergency funds if privileged enough to make it, keep a piggy bank of some sort AND try to make a savings account if able, do gradual research into what they need to know for their money, their region, and relate skillsets to demand while also still considering the skills that are more overlooked and find the outlets and platforms that appreciate them or figure out what can bridge the gap between what other people need and want vs what you can offer and share and contribute. It’s easy to get caught in capitalistic views of what money means especially now but the use of money or value to receive goods existed long before any systems that are predatory or limit people’s ability to live and have a good life.
B. What’s really in your way is the culture, customs, and habits you build and your community and country uphold and by changing those things for yourself when they hurt you and others is the primary way to do this. Pass or put out papers of services you have, ask places if it’s okay for you to share them or to put them for others to see, call local newspapers and see what you can arrange, or check local libraries for courses and free certificates and programs, learn new skills, talk to other people, make new friends, make genuine connections, share your experiences, figure things out together, make communities, make spaces, and support your neighbors and vulnerable populations when able.
Never do more than what you have available for yourself, never give more than what you’ve received, establish boundaries, build understanding, make a local paper yourself, create your own systems within your communities, ask local businesses what they need help with and what you can do to make their jobs easier or help their business or family, ask people if they need help without wanting anything back within the means of what’s reasonable and when you’re able to, look into what you can do with what you don’t need, garden, ask how someone’s day is going but actually be open to a conversation when you have the time, politely learn to decline or de-escalate problems, join community organizations or make your own, hold events or lessons or even instruct groups and share your routines or part of your day with others.
There’s so many options outside of plain economics and banking and financial means when we learn to incorporate why these things even exist in the first place and their original purposes in our lives. Economics is inherently social, we have to be involved with others in some way to inherit, receive, or maintain any kind of systems in our life. If you’re struggling socially it’s going to reflect in your finances, what other people go through is going to affect what you can make for yourself and the impact of what you do, when someone has a business it creates jobs for other people, we cannot function on our own, learn to find support, offer support, and receive support, and learn to manage and care for the environment you live in and the people you share space with.
ALL. OF. THIS.
happy pride! remember that being a transgender is everything but fiction. there are so many real historical figures from every century about whose transgenderism we aren't even aware of

i don't think i'll ever forget when the boys' PE teacher so casually prompted me to join the other lads. there were no bells and whistles or some big grand gesture making a massive deal. he tret me like he would any other young lad. school was rough for me (like with most queer kids), so moments like these really shine. cheers, sir 🫡
Hello everyone!
Last year I started designing a series of Coat of Arms, themed in the spirit of Pride Month and using different mythological creatures as heraldic animals. I now aim to turn these designs into wearable pins and will be running a Kickstarter in July to fund this endeavor! I have found a very trustworthy local manufacturer, who has already shown the quality of their craftsmanship with the first batch of test pins I received, just look at the detail they were able to produce!
Since I try to support local manufacturers, which produce pins with fair wages and are more ethical than outside of Europe, the pins are more expensive to create than through the usual pipeline via Asia.
I therefore seek to crowdfund the expenses since they would be more than I can afford. If you are interested and look forward to support this little endeavor, please follow the link below to sign up for a mailing list. People who signed up on the email list and pledged during the campaign will receive an exclusive sticker set by the end of a successful launch consisting of the following designs:
