do they die shawn hatosyâs (is that how you spell it) hair for that animal kingdom show bc you guys rb it and he has dark hair but in the pitt gifs i see on tumblr and ready or not 2 heâs graying (handsomely i guess idk it suits him)
Had to pause my episode to do some research :
When Animal kingdom came out in 2016 : no gray hair. And when it ended in 2022 : no gray hair, again.
BUT in 2022 also came his first appearance in Fire Country s4 where he DID HAVE gray hair.
In Unstoppable (2024) : very little gray hair. But for The Pitt (2025) : he has plenty of them.
So in conclusion : they dyed his hair for Animal Kingdom. Or at least for the last seasons. + I believe they also darkened his hair in Ready or Not.
Warning : smut, being chased (youâre right where you want to be), choking / breath play, outdoor sex, clothed sex, knee-job (?), hair pulling, humping, hand-job, biting, taunting and (1) praise, pet names, light begging, overstimulation (?), being caught, Titus is on the receiving end, reader being gross (?)
Genre : nsfw
Synopsis : You and Titus like to play a harmless game of chase. It gets the blood pumping and heart speeding AND it gives Ursula wrinkles.
Reader : gender neutral (you/yours)
A/N : 2k6w // the theme of being chased seems popular in this fandom. I decided to do it a bit differently.
The rules of the game were simple.
You had a one minute head start to get as far as possible from Titus, you could go anywhere you wanted, hide as much as you desired, but to end the game, one of you had to win. If Titus grabs you, the victory is his. If you pass through the entranceâs gate, itâs yours. Each time, you both define whatâs to win and lose to keep you both motivated. But watch out for Ursula, she knows how to ruin your fun.
Though she would not stop you from doing whatever thing youâre doing, she will try to give Titus a piece of her mind once you two are done, saying itâs better if itâs her doing it than their father. It didnât stop you from doing it again, though. You were just more careful.
Kind of.
Laughing maniacally to yourself, trying to move between the crowds of people, you were constantly looking over your shoulder, ducking down ever so often to lay low.
You rushed down the corridors and stairs to find more people to mix yourself with. You clearly seemed deranged by the people noticing you ; giggling, looking everywhere, constantly moving, hiding amongst groups of people talking to one another, not caring about their judgemental stares or confused looks.
You let out a surprised sound when you saw him, you picked up your pace, and ducked down further to dart elsewhere, your laugh growing louder despite your attempts at keeping it quiet. Youâve been at it for the past hour and you were growing impatient. You havenât set foot outside once, you kept going from the ground floor to the first one and you were losing your sanity. When will you fucking step outside ?!
Upon seeing Ursula when you entered another room, you straightened yourself up, trying to look the most boring and natural possible with a serious face, still, you walked fast to leave through another door. She observed you, eyes on you like a hawk. She knew that when she sees you, her brother is always somewhere not too far, and today was like other days, Titus entered the room not long after you.
Youâre very much aware she doesnât completely know what to think of you, yet. Sometimes you seem like a bad influence for her brother, making things worse for everyone just for your own fun, and sometimes itâs the opposite, making him channel his energy into something⊠not necessarily nice, but harmless.
Titus seemed to slow down when he saw her, but did not hide his intentions despite his closed face. He was after you, and Ursula guessed it quickly.
She sent a glare his way, which he mockingly mirrored. Pursing her lips, annoyed, she went back to what she was doing, letting him leave the room.
As soon as he entered the next one, he saw you duck behind a group of people before quickly rushing up the stairs, again, making him follow you.
It was the fifth time you went that way, he kept blocking your exit routes and you were out of hiding spots, slowly growing desperate. At this pace, youâd never reach the gate.
But then, you saw the light. A worker had opened the windows to aerate the floor. That was your way out.
You chuckled, already feeling victorious, rushing to the nearest window, and turned to look at him. He seemed confident, smug, even, thinking he had successfully cornered you. But that changed when he saw your grin before suddenly climbing up the window and jumping out from the first floor.
It was high and the landing was painful, shaking your whole being, sending an electric shock from the sole of your feet up to your legs and back. But you didnât let it stop you, you stood back up, a bit wobbly at first, and began running, ignoring the worried people who saw your stunt. You hoped Ursula wouldnât hear about it.
You looked over your shoulder and saw Titus staring at you by the window, you flipped him off, laughing hysterically, taunting him, and resumed your route toward the gate. Outside, at last !
You thought that move had secured your victory, and that was your mistake. Believing you had already won, you slowed your pace, jogging calmly so your legs could recover, giggling proudly to yourself until you heard Titus call your name.
Shit. That bastard was not giving up.
You looked behind, and saw he was driving a golf car, approaching dangerously. You scream-laughed, frustrated, speeding as much as you could. You were so gonna lose if you kept going like this.
âFucking bitch !â You yelled. âThatâs cheating !â
âWhy do you care ?!â He yelled back, getting closer. âYouâre always cheating !â
âLet me win this once !â
He frowned.
ââŠNo.â He simply replied, baffled by the sheer stupidity of your 'suggestion'.
You screamed again when you felt his hand nearly grab your shoulder, and quickly changed your direction to rush toward the forest. He could not use this thing inside, and thankfully, you reached it before he could actually put his hands on you.
You hoped that heâd trip on tree roots and give you more distance, but you had to be careful as well, needing to slow down so you wouldnât be the one falling.
He had no trouble staying behind you. You were continuously yelping and chuckling, sounding half nervous, half excited each time you heard him yell your name.
When his voice got too close, you decided to regain your original speed, trying not to trip. You giggled hysterically, urgency growing, heart racing and thumping in your ears when, at last, you saw the open gate. It was still quite far, but your mind was all over the place. You are so wining.
You kept laughing and screaming when you finally stormed out of the forest and were now in front of the entrance. Your feet skidded on the gravel as you suddenly stopped running to change direction, nearly falling.
As you quickly straightened yourself to pass the gate, Titus body-slammed you to the ground, knocking the wind out of you.
He didnât give you the time to react, pinning you down as he sat on top of you, one hand choking you. He observed you for a moment as you slowly recovered from what just happened.
âReally ? Jumping from the first floor ?â He said, visibly annoyed. As you cackled with difficulty, you felt his grip on you grow tighter, your laugh dying in your throat, still you had a huge smile on your face.
He leaned closer, your eyes staring back at him, sparkling. Your heart was hammering in your chest and against his palm, struggling to recover from the run because of your excitement, your brain fuzzy.
Finally, he let go of you. He had won. You gasped, air finally allowed back in your lungs, chest heaving up and down.
âFuck, man. Really thought- I really thought Iâd win.â You croaked out as you cleared your throat.
âMaybe one day you will.â He said in a falsely encouraging tone. He did not believe it one bit and you knew.
âI was close this time.â You stated proudly. âWithout the golf car, I wouldâve won.â
âI wouldâve found a way.â
âNo you wouldnât.â You sneered, eyes twinkling. âNext time⊠Iâll win.â
âYou wonât. Iâll make sure you wonât jump from any more windows.â He said, grabbing your face with one hand, squeezing your cheeks only to pull away before you could bite him.
âI will win.â You assured, you were not giving up.
âYou wonât.â He replied, just as confidently as you.
âI donât care if I have to break a fucking window-â You harshly pushed him off of you and onto the ground, Titus now under you, your knees between his thighs, keeping his legs open. âOr jump from the second floor even, Iâll find a way to fucking win. Iâll smoke you. Iâll win, and you. will. eat. shit.â
He wasnât impressed at all. Clearly, he didnât see your victory happening anytime soon. Fucking bastard.
âHow many games did we play ? And how many did you lose ? Ah, right, all of them.â He cockily pointed out, an annoying smirk on his face as he raised an eyebrow, successfully getting under your skin.
You let out a sigh who turned into a small frustrated scream before wrapping a hand around his throat.
âI. will. win.â You affirmed, tightening your grip, leaning closer, your forehead resting against his. Though he seemed unbothered, you could feel his pulse quicken under your palm, his eyes not leaving you.
You stopped him from stubbornly disagreeing by pressing your knee against his crotch, your hand tightening around his throat.
You continued applying pressure with your knee, pushing and rubbing against him, watching his smug expression disappear, turning into something softer as his length grew harder in his tight pants.
Titus was slowly crumbling under you, trying to remain composed but failing, mind foggy, gasping each time you allowed him to breathe. He watched as your knee kept rubbing his clothed dick, torturing him, small strangled whines and grunts escaping him.
You smiled, eyes devouring him when you felt him try to hump against you, growing desperate.
âAll that from my knee ?â You mused, taunting him. He glared at you but it had no bite at all. In fact, it even looked more like puppy eyes than anything.
You leaned closer, your forehead resting against his, staring deep into his eyes as he looked back at you, weak grunts dying in his throat.
âShould I add a hand ?â You asked, letting go of his throat. Titus gasped, air finally allowed down his lungs, watching your hand trail down, playing a bit with his clothes before stopping on top of his bulge, your knee back on the ground.
He could feel the warmth of your hand through his pants, your palm moving slowly against his length, groping and squeezing him, tortuously caressing him.
He was breathing so hard, panting at your touch, growing more and more desperate. You could tell he was getting close from his release as he was no longer watching your hand but staring at your face, searching for your eyes, cursing under his breath.
But before he could cum, you removed your hand, he grimaced, chest heaving up and down.
âFuckin-â
âSay Iâm gonna win.â You grinned, your fingers gently caressing his face. He frowned.
âFuck no.â He slapped your hand away.
âHoney, I have no problem leaving you like this. Iâm not the one with his dick hard.â You pointed out, making him grunt by pinching his crotch.
This time, there was bite in his glare, but it only made you snicker.
âOkay.â You said, completely pulling away, but right as you were about to get up he grabbed you by your shirt, pulling you back down against him.
âYou will not win.â He spat.
You smiled, a teasing finger lightly rubbing against his bulge.
âBeing stubborn wonât help you in this situation, Titus.â You stated sweetly, watching him debate in his head. Admitting you could win seemed to be really hard for him. Even if he believed it was a lie.
âFine.â He finally said, quietly. âYou- you will win.â
âIâm sorry, I didnât quite hear you.â
He scowled, but his annoyance quickly evaporated when he felt your knee back against him.
âSay it.â You mused softly while your hand went to his hair, pulling on them to keep him focused.
You heard him shakily breathe out, your knee rubbing against him as he finally complied.
âYou will win⊠next time.â
You hummed as if you were thinking about it before grimacing.
"Again."
"Oh, fuck off."
You laughed.
"Oh, but I can fuck off." You sneered. "Your dick is not my problem."
He seemed very upset by it, eyes sending daggers your way only to soften when you pressed your knee against his bulge and pulled on his hair.
"So whatâs it gonna be, baby ?"
Chest heaving, Titus blinked, sighing.
"You- Youâre gonna win."
"Are you sure ?"
He nodded.
"What ?" You teased, acting confused.
"Yes."
"Yes, what ?"
Oh, you were really getting under his skin, gnawing at his nerves like a rabid dog.
"Yes, youâre gonna win next game." He glared at you, jaw clenching in annoyance.
"Mmmmh. I donât thin you believe it." You frowned. "And I want you⊠to believe it." You booped his nose, laughing at his irritated expression, your hand back on his clothed dick, squeezing him to remind him of his priorities.
"Fuck- okay, yes- youâre going to win- youâll definitely win." He huffed out, your hand caressing him, thumb rubbing his tip.
"Are you sure ? Because, I donât know, what if-"
"Yes ! Yes ! You will win !" He sounded really desperate, hips trying to follow your hand. He was so done.
"Really ?"
"Fuc- yes, really. Please- just please let me cum."
You smiled, visibly satisfied. You moved your knee back against his dick, roughly resuming your torture.
âGood boy.â You cooed, watching him grow desperate once more, hips moving up and down to hump against you.
You leaned closer, teeth digging in his neck, your warm and wet tongue soothing your bites. He was getting close to release again, hips sputtering, grunting and panting into your ear. You felt him tense up as he came in his pants, eyes closed shut, riding his orgasm.
But it was not over.
Your hand slid down his body and into his clothes, not letting his dick rest, grabbing him and jerking him despite him trying to move away.
Titus cursed, hands grabbing you tightly, pushing and pulling you close at the same time.
Huffing and grunting, broken desperate moans escaped his lips, chest heaving rapidly. You tilted your head to look at him, your hand still working his sensitive dick tirelessly.
âYou look absolutely pathetic.â You pointed out, kissing his forehead as he looked up at you, his brows were knitted together in a sad expression, like a kicked puppy, eyes hazy, whining helplessly at your comment, hips bucking into your fist in a broken rhythm.
Your thumb swiped against his cum covered tip, jerking him roughly, his dick sliding inside your hand so easily despite the weird angle you were at.
It didnât take long for him to come a second time, cock pulsing, spitting ropes of cum inside your fist, shaking and panting under you.
â[Name], did you really jump from- Are you really fucking kidding me ?â A voice suddenly cut you off.
Ursula.
You had to look elsewhere after seeing her face, laughing into your shoulder as Titus groaned, dick still twitching in your hand.
âWhat the fuck is wrong with you ?â She asked while you removed your hand from inside her brotherâs pants. "Right by the fucking entrance ?"
To gross her out even more, you brought your hand to your mouth, ready to lick it clean, her clearly offended face made you laugh again, so you simply wiped it on his clothes.
She grimaced at the gesture, cursing under her breath, trying to erase the picture of his cum on your hand from her mind.
âJust... Just get up.â She ordered. You looked at Titus with a content smile as he pushed you off of him. âAnd get fucking changed.â She added, leaving, muttering under her breath.
Titus sat up, noticing his cum stained clothes and glared at you.
"Really ?" He was not amused, unlike you.
You snickered, kissing the top of his head as you got up. He huffed and stood up as well, trying to find a way to hide the stain with his coat, following you.
Pope thinks that any noise while youâre sick is going to kill you. Youâve really only got a head cold, but he basically drags Deran and Craig out of the house by their necks when they start laughing too loud playing pool while youâre curled up watching movies on the couch. Every time he comes to check on you he murmurs so quietly that you have to lean in to hear him
Heâs moving constantly, even though youâd rather he just sit with you. Always up to get you another cup of tea or broth, or get your next dose of meds, or clean the kitchen again in preparation for making you dinner
Nighttime comes and you hope that heâll finally be still, but instead he carries you to bed (you didnât need it, but who were you to turn down being pressed against his chest?) and tucks you in with a gentle forehead kiss before going back out into the rest of the house, mostly to pace and occasionally stop to stare at the TV
You lay there for a while, exhausted but feeling too lonely and restless to actually sleep. Youâre worried maybe Pope just doesnât want to be in the same room because he doesnât want to get sick himself. Finally, knowing that just asking him outright is better than laying around wondering, you get up and find him. Youâre pinching the bridge of your nose against another wave of headache as you enter the living room
He spins around and looks at you like youâve come in bleeding from a gunshot wound, rushing over to bend down and look directly in your eyes, searching, framing your face with his hands. âWhat is it?â he asks, a fraction louder than heâs been all day. âI just didnât know if you maybe didnât wanna get sick or something,â you respond, maybe a little poutier than you meant to. He straightens up, confusion clouding his pretty eyes. âJust, since you wonât come lay with meâŠâ you clarify.
If Pope was the kind of person to smack himself in the forehead you think he wouldâve done it, based on the look of regret now on his face. âNonononono,â he mutters, cupping your face again. âI thought if I crowded you, you wouldnât be able to rest up.â Your answering huff comes out scratchy and weird. âYou know I canât sleep without you as it is,â you tell him, sniffling in loudly against your stupid dripping nose while he turns to grab you a tissue
Communication wins - youâre dead asleep less than twenty minutes later with your head tucked against Popeâs chest and his arm around you tight. He spends the night waking every so often to rub more little circles into your back and shoulders before he drifts back off
âĄïžTitus DanforthâĄïž
Titus is a HUGE hypochondriac, maybe a tiny bit of a germaphobe too when it comes to illnesses
He called the familyâs private physician the second you first blew your nose, coldly staring at the doctor with disapproval when they finally said âitâs just going to have to run its course, sir, rest and fluids are about all you can do.â
He has servants running in and out of your room for two days straight to get you anything you might need, although finally when one dares to tell him âMr. Danforth, we keep getting sent away without having done anything,â he steels his stomach, straightens his jacket, and enters your room cautiously, turning the handle with just his fingertips and fighting not to hold his breath
Youâre sitting up in bed with an open book on top of a pillow in your lap, looking a lot farther from death than Titus expected you to. You raise an eyebrow at him, folding your book shut with one finger left holding your place. âYes?â you say drily. âAre youâŠokay?â Titus rumbles awkwardly, looking everywhere but you. âI think Iâll live. You know, I never even took a fever or anything, dear. Iâve been quite fine for the last two days. Aside from being borderline trapped in this room with flustered help and without seeing you.â
Titus clears his throat in mild embarrassment, his brow furrowing. âThe doctor said you needed rest and fluids, Iâve been ensuring you get both,â he says, fiddling with his cravat. âYes, well, I am indeed getting both, and I think Iâm past the worst of it,â you tell him. âNow just to recover from the fact that being sick means you canât even stand the sight of me.â Youâre mostly teasing him, knowing well that he worries a lot about catching anyoneâs illnesses
Titusâs mouth pops open in indignation. He sniffs haughtily and removes his coat, laying it on the chest at the foot of your bed. He pulls one of the armchairs about four feet from the side of the bed - closer than you wouldâve expected him to - and holds out his hand expectantly with his chin raised. âWhat?â you ask. âYour tome, please,â he says in a teasing tone with a sideways smile, his fake-proud demeanor dropping. This is certainly the closest to self-deprecating youâve ever seen him
He spends the rest of the evening reading to you, eagle-eyed for when you doze off so that every time you come back around he can rewind to what you mustâve last heard
When he gets a very mild case of the sniffles a few days later, Titus is dogged about the âproofâ that his phobia is well-founded. Of course, he doesnât turn away any of your care and concern, gratefully laying his head in the crook of your neck and letting you pet his back while he naps
đ«Dr. Jack Abbotđ«
You wouldâve expected someone with so much experience around true illness, injury, and even death to be fairly unconcerned about a little cold. You wouldâve been wrong. Jack behaves like youâre dying. Heâs wearing a mask when heâs at work, passing off any cases that might be anything contagious, terrified heâs going to bring something home to make you worse
Going to work the first day you started to feel a little crappy was immediately, absolutely out of the question. Jack called your place of work himself - you heard his tone sharpening as he told your boss that youâd certainly have a work note
He doesnât hover to take care of you; he cares for you with the same efficiency he treats his patients, hopping up every four hours like clockwork to take your temperature, refill your drinks, get you food when you want it, and administer meds before he sits back down with you. He lets you move into whatever position feels most comfortable, but his clear favorite is your feet in his lap while he massages your legs
Jack is surprised and bewildered every time you take initiative to want to do an activity or transition to something with a higher level of attention, like turn on your Switch to play Mario Kart, or start another movie - heâs reluctant, too, gently insisting that really you should take another nap or at least close your eyes. You simply cannot get him to engage with anything other than staring at you and touching you, which is how you can feel the depth of his worry
Youâre out of work for probably two days longer than you need to be, but Jack surprises the hell out of you and takes those two days off himself, spending them attached to your side in some way or another. You even manage on the final day to get him to try his hand at a couple of video games with you, laughing at the little puppy dog face he pulls every time he falls off a cliff in Tears of the Kingdom
Youâre so glad when he finally declares you back in good health and is willing to give you a real, deep kiss

a/n: yes, the movie club for Jackâs bit is based on one that I actually have a membership to lmao also it was a struggle not to turn all three of these into back-row theatre sex endings. Oh, and when I say âI can fix himâ about Titus Danforth, Iâm referring to being able to make that man enjoy some of the better normal-people experiences that exist. Thatâs all.
đïžPope Codyđïž
It takes you probably a solid six months to get Pope to come to a movie with you - itâs excuse after excuse: scheduling doesnât line up, he doesnât feel well, he doesnât wanna see that one, oh that theatre has this one guy working at it that hates the family, on and on. Finally, you ask him flat out. âHon, you got somethinâ against going to the movies?â It maybe isnât the most relevant moment to ask, considering youâre digging in the dirt of your garden while Pope fixes one of your trellises, and youâve both been in companionable silence for nearly an hour
âWhat?â he asks, turning his head sharply to look at you, and then turning back just as sharply, âah, shit.â He sighs and lays the trellis back down, the wire he was wrapping around one of the junctions snapping uncoiled for the third time. âDo you need a third hand over there?â âProbably,â he mumbles, so you push yourself to your feet and join him; once heâs shown you where to hold, he asks, ânow whatâd you say?â âI asked if you have something against going to the movies. Youâve literally never come with me.â
Heâs quiet for a bit, eyes narrowed on the work in front of him. âWhy dâyou care so much?â âBecause itâs one of my favorite things to do and I like doing things I like with you there. But itâs completely okay if you donât like it, you donât have to do everything with me - Iâd just like to know if I oughta stop inviting you.â âI justâŠI donât like having all those people behind me. I can hear âem all talking and whispering through the whole damn thing, and anyone can walk up on ya like that.â You blink, wondering if maybe youâre being stupid right now
âSoâŠuh. Sit in the - in the back row,â you say slowly, sure there must be an obvious reason youâre missing why that doesnât solve the problem. âHuh?â âIf you donât like people behind you, and you donât want anyone able to walk up behind you. Then. Uh. Sit where - where they canât do that.â Popeâs brows furrow heavily and he stares into the middle distance, hands going slack. âFuck me,â he suddenly declares, âIâŠmy brothers have always booked the tickets and they always pick a middle row. I kind of. Forgot,â and he huffs an almost laugh at himself, âforgot that thereâs a back row.â
You press your lips together hard, willing yourself not to giggle. Pope finally glances over at you and he rolls his eyes. âOh, just do it,â he mutters, âhave your fun.â So you let loose perhaps two seconds of a hearty chuckle and then let it fade, rolling your head to the side to gaze at him fondly while keeping your hands stuck fast around the wire. âSoâŠdo you wanna try it with me then?â Heâs silent just long enough to finish finally fastening what youâre holding, and then he taps the top of your wrist for you to let go. âYeah,â he says simply, âthere anything tonight?â
And there is. You pay too much for popcorn and then sheepishly inform Pope, âI usually absolutely douse this shit in butter. Iâm talking obscene, dripping, grease stains type douse. How does that strike you?â He shrugs. âI like butter.â âOkay, but like - liking butter and being okay with so much butter it offends the gods are two different things.â âAre there gods of butter?â he replies, frowning at you comically. âThere are here,â you say dramatically, and he looks off to the side, quirking his lips against a full smile, and you know heâs actually tickled
You compromise by asking for an empty medium bag from the concession stand, and you carefully transfer a good chunk into it for Pope to have unviolated corn. His eyes do grow wide as he watches you drench your portion, but he doesnât say anything. You both hoof it up to the back row and settle in right next to the projector booth in the center. Reaching out to brush the fuzzy wall next to you, you smile over at Pope in the low light of the pre-showtime ad block. âI like it up here - you can feel the sound. Hopefully that doesnât end up bugging you,â you say, suddenly worried. âProbably wonât,â he assures you, settling his popcorn bag in his lap steadily and then sliding his arm across your shoulders
You start to cuddle over into him, but you pause to first turn your head and press a closed but enthusiastic kiss against his lips. When you pull back, he looks a little confused. âWhatâs that for?â âIâm just glad you came with me,â you reply quietly, beaming, and the side of his mouth quirks up. âMe too,â he mumbles, and your heart squeezes while you tuck your head against his shoulder. He spends most of the movie with his nose buried in your hair, only pulling away occasionally to munch a few handfuls of his sad, dry popcorn
When the credits roll and the lights come back up, you twist in your seat to look at him. âWell? Good experience, bad experience?â you ask anxiously. He continues to watch the screen, his eyes moving quickly to read the names scrolling by, but he threads his fingers through yours tightly. âGood,â he declares simply. You wait with your lip bitten, but thereâs nothing else forthcoming, so you scrunch your whole face up briefly before pressing, âsomething youâd do again?â He finally glances at you for a fraction of a second, a tiny line appearing at the corner of his mouth and his eyebrow ticking upwards while he just mutters, âmhm.â
You realize then that he actually had an excellent time, and heâs doing that thing where he doesnât want to ruin it by being too excited about it. Yâknow, the thing that always tugs at your heartstrings. But you swallow the urge to make it a deal, making instead to stand up. Youâre tugged back down by the immovable force that is Popeâs hand still in yours as he continues to sit. âOh, thereâs no mid-credits scene or anything for this one,â you say in confusion, but he shrugs a shoulder. âAll these people did a lot of work,â he says opaquely, and your eyes drift back to the screen. âUh, y-yeahâŠ?â âLeast we can do is read their names.â âOh,â you say softly in charmed realization, and you settle back in your seat, hand still tightly threaded through Popeâs, while the two of you sit out the credits
đ„Titus Danforthđ„
âI can have a home theatre built in one of the basements like that,â Titus says petulantly, snapping his fingers. âYou are being absolutely pathetic right now,â you announce haughtily, and he frowns up at you, mouth turning down into almost a pout. âThereâs just no fucking reason for us to slum it in a dirty, crowded, rickety -â You cut him off by leaning down in front of his chair, your hands on each arm of it, your severe expression inches from his face
âOlâ man,â you say sharply, and his eyes go a little flat and dangerous, but he clearly canât stop the smirk curling at one side of his mouth, âwhen is the last time you were in a movie theatre?â You watch his hands tense and flex as he appears to consider whether or not to push back against the old man jab or the way youâre up in his face right now. But his muscles relax and he answers you with a disinterested sniff, âbeen almost two decades, actually, and thatâs still too recently for my taste.â
You stand up straight and cross your arms, tapping one foot idly. âHave you ever considered that maybe the quality of theatres has changed a bit in twenty years?â âHave you ever considered I donât like people and I have the money to avoid them?â he counters. âHave you ever considered that doing things around other people can, in certain contexts, enhance the experience - and!â you cut off his attempt to cut you off, âthat even the best in-home theatre money can buy canât compare to a twenty-foot tall screen with walls basically made of speakers?â
He rolls his eyes. âHave you ever considered I donât want to?â he says, back to petulant, so you decide to beat him at his own game. âHave you ever considered that I do want to?â you say quietly, allowing a small, whispery whine to creep into your tone, tilting your head down against your chest a bit and peering back up at him through your lashes. You even let your bottom lip push out a little. âOh, fuck you,â he says with no venom in it, and you have to stifle the shit-eating grin thatâs about to break out
Gotcha, you think in triumph, even as he stands abruptly and tugs at the bottom of his jacket, still seeming like he might hold firm for a second. You know damn well youâve won, though, because he wonât look at you. âFine,â he finally says sharply, almost-snarling, âI will go to a fucking movie with you.â You let out a soft âyay,â bouncing up on your toes and clapping just the tips of your fingers together excitedly
Titusâs expression softens against his will, and he slides his arms around your waist to catch you for a kiss, his own reward to himself for giving in to you yet again. You break it off more quickly than he would like in order to whip out your phone and book tickets. You end up dragging him to the latest summer superhero blockbuster, and as soon as the two of you enter the lobby, he regrets it immensely
Thereâs a veritable gaggle of people in line for snacks, and you watch his back stiffen. âSo the âcrowdedâ bit I mentioned is not - the fuck is it you say? - âbeating the allegations,ââ he mutters against your ear, and you snort. âIâm fine without snacks, honestly - would you rather just go get settled in our seats?â He squints at you, then nods. You got seats precisely in the middle of the row so that, ideally, no one is shuffling around you to get to their own or if they have to get up for anything
Once youâre both settled and the chairs are reclined, you catch his eye. âSo, âricketyâ what now?â you tease, and he rolls his eyes. âAlright, fine - the chairs have improved quite a bit. I could do without this giant armrest between us, though.â âOh-ho, buddy, have I got good news for you,â you say slyly, and you make a whole to-do of revealing that the middle armrest pulls up and out of the way
Titus makes a noise of deep approval, and absolutely slings you up against his side, making you giggle. You curl your legs up in the seat and press even harder under his arm, wiggling in delight when he slips his hand just under the waistband of your pants to rest against your skin. That small point of bare contact is what seems to ground him as moviegoers begin to trickle in, as he keeps pressing his fingers harder into you anytime someone is particularly loud or brushes against the backs of your seats to get settled
He spends probably the first twenty to thirty minutes of the movie stiff and awkward against you, twisting in irritation anytime he can hear the noise of others, but then when the first plot twist happens and the movie really kicks into gear, you feel him relax. And yeah, there it is, you think to yourself, glancing up and over at him in the flickering light to see that heâs finally lost in the big-screen experience, just as you get, just as you wanted him to be
When the soaring, cathartic, fan-servicing climax happens and thereâs a roar of appreciation among the packed theatre, you expect Titus to be irritable again, but heâs leaning forward, eyes lit up - not making any noise of his own, of course, but you can tell the collective mood has hit him just right, and you smile, satisfied. The next time you invite him to a movie, he only grumbles a little before heâs the one pulling out his phone, insisting that one more row back than last time would be ideal
đœïžDr. Jack Abbotđœïž
The day you signed up for a movie club membership is the day your and Jackâs collective ability to be chill about going to the movies died. It becomes not just a hobby, not merely a vast enjoyment - but a purpose. Less than thirty bucks a month for each of you in order to see four free movies every single week? Come on, man. And granted, there arenât usually sixteen movies a month out at any given time, but neither of you is opposed to seeing something more than once, and itâs still worth it even if some weeks youâre only seeing one
Jack is the first one to go full-bore balls-to-the-wall about it. âHey, baby,â he gets your attention quietly one night while youâre crocheting in bed next to him; heâs got his iPad on his lap, âthereâs this opioid epidemic documentary coming to theatres that Iâd really like to see with you.â âSure, love,â you say easily, trying not to lose your stitch count. Jack can see you mouthing numbers, so he waits patiently for you to get to the end of your row, hands curled up tense in his lap
âItâs, uhâŠitâs out at the one in Steubenville,â he finally says sheepishly once youâre about to turn the piece, not starting counting for the next row yet. âOh,â you say in only mild surprise, âwell, thatâs fine, long as scheduling lines up.â âThatâs fine?â he says, a bit incredulously, âitâs just, fine, that I want to drag you to another state to watch some random little documentary?â You laugh, giving up for a second on continuing your project and letting it fall to your lap
âFirst of all, yes, technically Steubenville is in another state, but itâs also like, an hourâs drive, so donât make it sound like youâre taking me on some cross-country road trip for a single film.â Jack huffs indignantly, turning on his hip to face you better, and you continue, âsecondly, I will watch any movie with you ever because I enjoy it, and finally, I assume youâre only asking because this particular one isnât playing at any of the closer locations. Right?â âRight,â he grumbles, a deep frown on his face. âWhat, did you want me to say no or something?â
âNo,â he says with a frustrated noise, âI just. Expected you to.â âWelp, surprise,â you giggle, leaning forward to kiss his cheek, âbook the tickets if theyâll work, itâs not like you donât have my calendar. In fact, carte blanche: book any tickets ever if theyâll work.â âYou mean that, donât you?â he asks, searching your eyes a bit. âTry me, Doc.â He gently untangles your project from your hands, making sure thereâs a stitch marker in your last one, and sets it on the side table with great care before he rolls back over and smothers you with a harsh kiss
That marks the beginning of the two of you really going to see any and everything thatâs showing within a three hour radius of Pittsburgh, literally any time you can - all the anniversary events the chain puts on, where youâre getting to watch shit on the big screen that came out when Jack was young, every little indie film that manages to put together even a barebones release. Everything
And it helps that youâre both able to find some sort of merit in just about every single movie you see - of course, itâs hard to feel like itâs a terrible waste to go see something when all it really costs you is a little bit of time, but still. You share similar abilities to find artistic value somewhere in just about every single movie thatâs ever been made
Until, of course, the one that you donât. And it just had to be one of the ones that was over an hourâs drive. Itâs forty minutes into it, and the absolute only saving grace is that youâre the only two people in the theatre, so you can at least talk at full volume about how much the experience sucks. âThis is like, the first time ever Iâve checked my clock in a movie,â you grouse, and Jack hums in agreement. âYou just wanna head home?â he asks, rubbing little circles into your shoulder
âWe came all the way out here,â you sigh, âand what if it turns out the last ten minutes make it all worth it?â He barks a laugh at that. âIâll sit here with ya, I donât care,â he says, nuzzling against your hair. You feel a little spark low in your gut. âYâknowâŠwe donât have to pay attention to the rest of the movie, just stay for it.â âWhat do you mean?â
You lean over and nip his earlobe intently before whispering, âI mean - Iâm bored, and youâve got me all alone in a dark, cool, comfortable room, Abbot. Whatcha gonna do about it?â You can see the white of his grin even against the shittily lit scene onscreen, and he captures your lips for a kiss instantly while you turn your shoulders to face him
Eventually you lead him up to the back row, lest some poor theatre employee wander in a little early to start cleaning. And yeah, itâs physically awkward, quite a stretch for you both, and probably amongst the least comfy sex youâve ever had together. But damn if it isnât hot, some little back of your mind fantasy come true, straddling your gorgeous, built boyfriend way up high in an auditorium where no one can see, but theoretically anyone could. As soon as youâre both in the car, he leans across the console to kiss you again, whispering against your lips, âwe need to see bad movies more often.â

Over the years, Jack had seen many people. People who broke, people who didn't break. He hadn't decided which one you were.
Sometimes he thought you'd just gotten frighteningly good at hiding when you did.
He'd watched you do it for the better part of a year now. Suture a kid's eyebrow while the mother sobbed in the doorway. Call a time of death in a voice that didn't waver once. Walk out of a trauma â that would've put most second-years on the floor â like it didn't do anything of significance to you.
He'd told Robby once, that one's gonna outlast all of us. Robby had just hummed, like he already knew. Like everybody already knew except maybe you.
He didn't know what to do with that. With you. Two decades of learning exactly how much a person could survive before they gave, and you'd never given. Not once, not in any way he'd been close enough to catch â and he had been close.Â
Closer than he'd let himself admit, most nights. The sound you made when you were concentrating, he could pick it out with his eyes closed, how you could never stay down, even if anyone else in your position would've quit.
None of that should've mattered to a man who'd buried more people than he'd saved and still wore another woman's ring, solely because taking it off felt like one more door he didn't get to walk through.
Turning it without meaning to, he was thinking about the ring then, sitting three stools down from you at the bar nobody bothered to name, the place where everyone went to confirm they'd survived another shift.
It had been ugly that night. You'd handled it like you always did. Sunshine, somebody on the floor had called you once, not unkindly, and it had stuck.
You are sunshine.Â
And Jack knew he wasn't someone who got to keep something like that for himself.
"Another round?" Mateo was flagging down the bartender down without waiting for an answer.
Jack shook his head before anyone could pour him one. "I'm good." One beer in, he had no plans to go further. Somebody at this table had to drive, and it was not going to be Mateo.
You said something about him always being good, warm enough that it caught somewhere he'd rather it didn't.
He looked at you a beat too long before he could stop himself. "Most days." The truest thing he'd said all night.Â
Jack willed himself to look away, back toward whatever Ellis was saying about the new schedule, looking at you any longer was him being the opposite of good.
So many months spent looking sideways, stopping before the thought went anywhere it shouldn't. Whether that counted as discipline or cowardice, he hadn't decided.
Sixteen hours on feet would do that to anyone, let alone him, so Jack stretched his bad leg out under the table.Â
Nobody here treated it like news anymore. You'd asked him about it once, early on. Lost it overseas, he'd told you.
You hadn't pushed. He was grateful for that. Most people pushed, prodded him with questions, or completely ignored it.Â
You, once again, had fallen in the middle, his desired side.Â
The jukebox was playing a song old enough that he could sing along if he wanted to embarrass himself in front of the entire bar, which he didn't.
Javadi was muttering under her breath and you laughed at it, and Jack watched.Â
He'd noticed he liked watching you laugh more than was probably healthy for a man his age with his own collection of scars. But noticing it and doing anything about it were two very different problems, and he'd spent a year successfully keeping them that way.
He was still congratulating himself on that, more or less, when you said his name, followed by your slurry question, "Y'know what's stupid?"Â
Jack already knew this wasn't going anywhere good. You only led with y'know what's stupid when you were three drinks past the point where you usually stopped yourself.
"Don't know." He leaned back against the bar, arms crossed, tried to look casual and probably failed. "You're gonna tell me though."
"Don't be smart with me right now. I'm fragile." You weren't fragile. In the period of watching you and knowing you, he'd never once gotten the sense that the word applied to you. But you'd moved closer, not bothering to keep your voice down.
"Oh, here we go," Santos muttered into her glass.
"What's stupid," you went on, leaning forward like the table had gotten further away in the last ten seconds, "is loving somebody who is never, ever gonna let himself be loved back. That's a stupid way to spend a Friday. A stupid way to spend a year, a whole life, actually, if we're being honest."
"Who?" Whitaker leaned in like this was the best thing to happen to him all week. "You gotta say who, you can't just throw a thing like that into a bar and walk away from itâ"
Jack thought you didn't need any persuasion or encouragement to blurt out whatever was on your mind.
"You know who," you said, still not looking away from Jack.
He felt that burrow under his ribs and live there. Only thing he knew how to do and he did that, try to joke his way out before it turned into something heavier. "Let's take a break, shall we?"
"No, I wanna say." The no and say came out long and drawn, each syllable stretched with stubborn insistence.
"Say it, then." Whittaker's voice once again spurred you on.
You said the older man's name like it had been sitting behind your teeth longer than just tonight, no laugh in it to hide behind this time. Jack felt the table go quiet, listening even with their eyes pointed somewhere else.
"It's you," you whispered, then laughed, a sound so beautiful, Jack wanted to keep hearing it. "It's so obviously you I don't know why I bothered being subtle about it. Everybody already knows. Mateo has watched me watch you for â for â I dunno how long â"
From the far end of the booth came Mateo's voice. "No, I haven't."
"You're not subtle, Mateo."
"I â"
"It's okay." Your concentration came back to Jack, like the rest of the table had stopped existing, which â fair, he'd been doing the same thing since you opened your mouth. "It's been you for embarrassingly long. Professionally embarrassing. I should lose my license over how long it's been."
That earned a few laughs around the table and Jack wanted to pull you in, shield you from the attention you'd suddenly become the center of.
But he couldn't.Â
The honest answer â the one that would never see daylight, if he had any say in it â was that he understood. More than he should've.
Long back, he'd started noticing what door you came through at the start of each shift. Your coffee. How you only remembered to eat if someone put food in your eyeline. None of that was the kind of attention an attending was supposed to pay a resident.Â
That also extended to you'd been watching him, mostly when you'd thought he wasn't looking. So he knew.Â
All that watching and he'd never once let himself do anything with it except stand in the same room and be relieved you weren't paying attention.Â
He should've laughed it off clean. That was the move, the one he'd used on a hundred things he didn't want to look at directly for longer than a second. What came out instead was softer and more revealing. "Let's get some water into you."
"Don't wan' water. Want an answer." You sighed and plopped your head on the table, not caring about what had been on it before. Sober you would chastise this version.Â
Crescents dug into his palm with the effort of not reaching to you. "You're gonna want the water in about twenty minutes. Trust me on this one."
"Is this happening?" Whitaker didn't bother lowering his voice, even though the question was only meant for Santos. "Are we just gonna sit here and watch this happen?"
"We are absolutely sitting here watching this happen," Santos deadpanned.
"I'm bein' serious, Jack." Your voice came as a whine.
"Yeah," he said. "That's what worries me." He was careful to keep it low, not let it carry.Â
"I am serious. I'm the most serious person in this entire building, ask literally anyone â" The apparently serious effect you were going for was lost with the way you hiccupped at the middle of your sentence.
"Not wrong about that part," Whitaker offered, unhelpfully.
"Thank you, Huckleberry."Â
Whittaker sighed, probably wishing he hadn't chimed in.Â
"C'mon." Jack stood. The room tipped half a degree, byproduct of one beer and sixteen hours upright. His weight settled wrong into the leg for a second before it found the floor right, a half-beat nobody at this table had ever clocked because he'd gotten good at not letting them. "I'm taking you home."
"You're not listenin' to me." Your arms flailed before slotting themselves on his biceps for support.
"Listening fine. Up you get."
Robby caught his eye over the top of your head while Jack hauled you up by the elbow, the two of you doing the slow shuffle toward the door that he was not, under any circumstances, going to call a stagger out loud.
Unconscious weight trusting the near solid thing, your body went slump against his. He kept a hand at your back. Told himself it was practical. Perks of telling himself the same thing for God knows how long, he wasn't going to stop now.
Robby's lips played a smirk, the one he used to get back in residency whenever Jack tried to pretend a bad shift hadn't gotten to him. Said he saw exactly what this was and was choosing, out of something resembling mercy, not to say it yet.
"Don't," Jack said anyway, covering his bases.
"Didn't say a thing."
You didn't mean it. He held onto that the whole walk to the car, the whole drive, your head against the window and your eyes closing somewhere around the second red light.
You'd had â what, four? Five? Jack had counted without meaning to. The number added upto something you'd be embarrassed the next day.Â
He got you up the stairs to your apartment with an arm under yours, and you went easy, pliant. The drinks had stripped you off any careful consideration you'd worn like a badge, now going loose, like you trusted him with holding you up.Â
He got you water. He got you to the couch, because you point-blank refused the bed, something about if I lie down the room's gonna dance, Jackie, and Jack didn't ask. Couch should be fine. But he knew he'd never recover from the Jackie.Â
"Jackie."
Of course.Â
"Yeah."
"I meant it." Your eyes were already closing again. "Jus' so you know. For later. I meant it."
"Go to sleep."
"'M not gonna remember saying that."
"Probably not."
"'Kay," you mumbled, which undercut the whole I meant it pretty thoroughly.
Jack pulled a blanket up over you and told himself that settled it. He stood there longer than he needed to and just looked at you.Â
He'd watched enough of you being one with the couch, only this was not the break room, and there weren't a myriad of factors fighting for his attention.Â
But, not like this.Â
He'd never quite let himself look at you when you were awake, openly, without the practiced distance he'd built between watching something and wanting it.
Whatever you wore through every shift had gone quiet. What was left was just you.
You were drunk. You didn't mean it.
That and how you said his name replayed in his head the whole drive home. He'd always been Dr. Abbot to you, and there was no recovering from either Jack or Jackie, especially the latter. Even drunk, your voice didn't waver, like you'd practiced it somewhere private long before that night gave you the nerve. He decided, somewhere around his third red light, that it didn't matter how you said it.
People said things drunk they wouldn't survive saying sober, and the kindest thing he could do, maybe the only thing he was actually allowed to do, was leave it exactly where it fell. At a bar. Five drinks in. Gone by morning.
It wasn't gone by morning.
He had a whole speech, something that would let the two of you step around this without either one having to look at it head-on. He never got the chance to use it though.Â
You found him first, outside trauma two. Eyebrows drawn together, a small pout playing at your lips, a look he hadn't seen on you, having watched this place fail to touch you for months.Â
Seemed like you'd already decided how to take whatever he was going to say.Â
"Hey." You not so much looked at him as over him. "So â I wanted to say sorry. About last night. I had a lot to drink and I shouldn't have put you on the spot like that, in front of everybody."
He wanted to tell you not to apologise, that you didn't put him on the spot at all, only yourself, and he would do anything to make you forget it, his one good deed.Â
"It's fine," he said, already half-turned back toward the chart in his hand. "Don't worry about it."
The absolute silence from you made him look back up. There was a small tilt to your mouth, like the start of a frown that got called off halfway through. "Oh," you said. "Okay."
"Hey â" He didn't love the sound that came out of you on those two words â worse than anger, a gentle resignation â opened his mouth to walk it back, except you got there first.
"Why didn't you take it seriously?"
"What?"
"Last night. You just⊠nothing â told me to drink water. Why didn't you take it seriously?"
"Because you'd had a lot to drink," he said like it was obvious. To him it had been, even if his subconscious would never agree with that. "You didn't mean it."
"No â no, that's â " You were shaking your head like you were trying to get the right words to fall into the right order. "I did mean it. Fuck itâ" he'd never once heard you curse. "I'll say it now, even if saying it in daylight â I mean, it's nighttime, but â sober. Sober's the word I'm looking for. It's just me. Standing here. Telling you that I â"
"Trauma two minutes out," Lena called from the desk. "GSW, unresponsive."
"Bed three." Shen moved past the two of you like neither of you were rooted to the ground like statues. "Let's go, people."
Jack's hand found your shoulder without his permission, gone almost as soon as it landed, and then he was moving too, falling into step beside Shen like the last ten seconds hadn't just happened at all.
He was good at not thinking about things when there was something else that needed doing, probably his most transferable skill if anyone ever asked.
The case took eleven minutes to crash and another forty to claw back. His hands knew what to do faster than his head did, which was usually the only thing keeping him upright through one of these.
Until minute thirty, he didn't think about the hallway again, when he looked up across the bed for a clamp and caught you on the other side of it. Gloved hands steady. Voice steady, calling out vitals.
He'd watched you call a death and then go check on the family with nothing on you but patience. In all these months, the job had never once gotten anywhere near your eyes. Now it had.
And he knew exactly whose fault it was, looking at you over a man's open chest, and the knowing sat in him like something swallowed wrong, heavy and a little sick, the rest of the case.
With the adrenaline gone, and nothing left to cower behind, Jack followed you to the ambulance bay.Â
"Hey."
Rushing a silence never made it shorter in his experience, and you needed a beat more than he did. He gave it to you.
"Hey." You didn't look at him.
"You good?"
"I don't know, Jack. Am I supposed to be good?" Now you looked at him, and it wasn't soft anymore. He hadn't expected the fire even though he probably should've. "You're the one who decided what I'm allowed to feel about any of this."
"That's not what I was trying to do."
"That's exactly what you did. You stood there and told me you didn't think much of it. Like I was a chart you forgot to sign."
"I didn't mean it like that."
"Then how'd you mean it?"
Practised, rehearsed speech was sitting somewhere behind his tongue, not one word of it came to his aid, happy with watching him scramble.
A gurney rattled somewhere behind him, two sets of footsteps moving fast toward bay four, somebody calling out a name he didn't catch. He registered none of it.Â
The whole building could've gone up and he wouldn't have noticed, not with you looking at him like that, waiting on something he should've had ready an hour ago. A day ago. A year, probably, if he was being honest.
He thought about lying. Old habit, reaching for the smooth thing instead of the true one. But you'd see it. You always saw it, that was half the problem with you â you'd gotten too good at reading him for him to get away with the easy version anymore.
"IÂ was scared." Jack hated how it sounded coming out of him, unfinished.Â
He almost wished you would say something. Silence from you was worse than any yelling, than the fire from a second ago. At least the fire told him where he stood.
"I â I was trying to make it easy for you." He heard himself say it and knew, even as the words came out, that they weren't going to do what he wanted them to do. "So you didn't have to carry it."
"I don't want easy!" Your voice cranked at the end of it, loud enough that a passing tech glanced over before deciding very quickly to keep walking. "When have I ever once asked you for easy?"
"I don't know, maybe never, maybe that's the problemâ"
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"You don't ask for anything." He hadn't meant to get into this here, hadn't meant to get into it at all, but it was coming out now whether he wanted it to or not. Two decades of watching people swallow things finally finding somewhere to go. "You take whatever the night throws at you and you swallow it and you smile and you call it fine. I figured you'd do the same with this."
Out loud, it sounded exactly as cowardly as it was.
"This isn't a trauma, Jack. You don't get to triage me."
"I know that."
"Do you? Because it really doesn't feel like you do."
"I know it, alright?" His voice was louder than he'd meant it to be, and he caught himself, brought it back down. You, of all people, didn't deserve to be the one who got it loud. "I've known since the second you said my name at that bar, and I â I told you it was fine. Becauseâ"
"Because what?"
The easy thing resurfaced, sat right there in his mouth, but he looked at your face and it went nowhere. Again.
He thought of the ring. How he'd been using it, as an argument with himself. It stopped holding a long time ago. "Because if I told you the truth, I didn't know what I was gonna do with it."
"So you lied to me instead?" A sniffle worked up to your words, he hated it more than he'd hated most things this job had shown him. "That's worse, Jack. That's so much worse than just saying nothing."
"I know." Jack sighed.Â
"Then why'd you do it?"
He'd had this conversation in his head half a dozen times. In his version he'd been more articulate, and you'd let him get through a full sentence. But you were looking at him like you actually wanted the answer and weren't going to let him get away without giving it.
"Because I look at you and I see somebody who's never once let this place touch you," he said. "Not all the way down â and I keep thinking, if I let myself want that, I'm gonna end up being the thing that finally does."
You went quiet, thrown enough that for a second you forgot to be angry at him. "What?"
He'd turned it over in his head so many times it had worn smooth, but that wasn't the same as saying it. Saying it made it actual. Made it a thing that existed outside of him, in the cold, between the two of you.
"I'm sorry."
"You think you'd ruin me." Softest person in this building and the most stubborn, and those weren't contradictions, you weren't going to let him off the hook.
The cold was getting into him through his scrubs and he didn't care. Some part of him thought he deserved to stand out here and freeze a little, penance for a thing he hadn't even committed yet, just the threat of it.Â
He'd buried a marriage he didn't talk about, and somewhere along the way he'd decided that meant he didn't get a second one, didn't get to want it, like the universe only handed a man one shot at being soft with somebody and his had already come and gone.
"I think I've ruined plenty already." He'd thought he'd made peace with it a long time ago but he apparently hadn't. "I'm not in a hurry to find out if you're next on that list."
"That's not fair. You don't get to decide that for me either."
"Probably not."
"So stop deciding it!"
"I'm â"
"Don't say you're trying. You're not. You're standing there doing the exact same thing you did last night, you're just using better words this time."
"What do you want from me?"
"I want you to stop being so sure you already know how this ends before it's even started!" You tried to swallow a sob back down and failed. "I'm so tired of being the strong one. I don't â I don't want to be the strong one with you too."
It was awful watching you cry. He'd sat with families through the worst things this city could do to them and he knew that language â knew where to put his hands, what to say and how to be useful inside someone else's worst moment.
His own fault, and none of that applied here. The only useful thing would start with him closing the distance.
"Sweetheart." It came out before he'd decided to say anything at all. "Hey â c'mere."
Jack pulled you in before you could argue your way out of it, one arm coming around you, your face landing against his chest like it had been aiming for that exact spot the whole time.
Imagining this had been forbidden too him, he'd been disciplined about keeping the things he wasn't allowed to want in a place he didn't go.
But, the warmth of your body was real, and you fit against him perfectly. Absurd, if he had to think about it then, absurd that he'd wasted time. A very long time to have waited for something that felt this right.
His hand found the back of your head without him telling it to. He felt you shake once, just once, like your body was testing whether it was allowed.
Tighter, then. Just enough.
"Why won't you just let this be easy?" Your words were muffled, wrecked, into the fabric of his scrubs.
The same question he'd been asking himself, end of bad shifts, in the car, in all the hours he'd spent deciding not to do exactly this. He didn't have a good answer.
"Because nothing about me is easy." He said it into your hair. "You'reâ" He found a different way to say it, ended up going for the most obvious one. "You're sunshine. You don't even know you're doing it half the time. And I'm not that. I've got two decades of stuff in me that doesn't burn off, it just sits there. I didn't think it was fair to put that next to you."
"That's not your call to make."
"I'm not good for you."
"I don't care."
"You â"
"Stop." It was so much like you to cut him off.
He let out a breath that had been sitting in his chest since the bar the night before. "Okay."
Frozen in place, frozen in hug, the two of you stood there, morning sun peeking out from the clouds. He didn't let go. You didn't ask him to.Â
There were things he should probably say, about the leg he didn't talk about, about the wife he talked about even less, about everything he'd carried out of those years that he still hadn't found a place to put down.Â
But that felt like a conversation for some dawn that wasn't now.
"You really think I'm sunshine?" you asked eventually, voice still thick, pressed into him like you weren't ready to test your own legs yet.
It was the kind of question asked when you already believed something but needed someone else holding it with you. He'd heard it before, in harder rooms, from people with far less reason for it.
He hadn't expected it from you. You were the one who made every room feel like things were going to be alright. He hadn't known, until then, that you needed someone to do that back.
"You're everything."

Jack laid peacefully on his back. His head resting on your stomach, facing the ceiling, eyes closed. The man all silent and sleepy, just as you are.
Your thighs sat over his shoulders and your one hand rested in his short silvery curls.
The bedâs messy. Pillows and blankets laying all over in a messy yet purposeful arrangement. The lights are off and the curtains closed. The only glow in the room is a small lamp, illuminating its warm glow. As well as the television across from the both of you.
The noise coming from it was simple to ignore. All of it slowly fading into the background.
Your focus stayed only on the sound of the older manâs heavy breathing.
Your head rests against the pillow beneath you, lazily staring at the screen before you gaze down at Jack.
Slowly, your hand moves to his hair, feeling through all of his curls: you feel as they shift and twirl, observing the dark and light shades of silver, slowly losing yourself in the softness of it all.
Your eyes eventually fall shut. Your hand remaining in the manâs hair, though its movements stilled. Everything around you slowly went quiet as your exhaustion took over.

Synopsis : Pope doesnât understand how you can love him
Reader : male (he/you)
A/N : thank you @inhumanshadows for the idea đ«°đ»đ«
You have the âI love youâ easy. You say it to your family, your friends, and of course your boyfriend Pope.
It wasnât always like that, though. You grew up in a not so affectionate family and at some point you began to fear that the people you cared about would believe you didnât love them and would die without knowing the truth. So you started saying it, very awkwardly at first, as a reminder of your affection for them and to get better at expressing yourself. Whether you were mad at them, far from them, not talking to them, you still loved them. You still cared about them. You wanted them to remember. To know.
So Pope should be used to it. You told him multiple times you loved him when you were just friends, and continued to when you two became a thing.
Yet, he wasnât. He didnât think you were a liar, but that you were confusing your feelings. You could appreciate him. But you could not love him. He wasnât made to be loved after all.
So each time you told him âI love youâ he would feel undeserving of it. Heâd repeat it back to you, always, because his love for you is true. He loves you. How could he not ?
You were always ready to pick him back up, piece by piece, carefully gluing him back together, patiently, softly. Respecting his pace and boundaries but always sticking close.
Though you remained cordial with Smurf and tried to limit your contact with her to not butt heads with her all the time, you didnât back down when necessary either, stopping her -whenever you could- from forcing Pope to âtake out the trashâ. She had guns and knew how to use them, she could do it herself.
You were like two dogs guarding one another, barking and biting if necessary. Heâs not the only one having noticed it, his brothers often call you as such, except J, who knows better.
âYour dogâs not here today ?â Craig asked at some point, before you and Pope were dating.
âMy dog ?â Pope was genuinely confused, what was he talking about ? What dog ?
â[Name]. Heâs your scary dog.â Baz explained.
Pope doesnât know why they call you a âscary dogâ. Youâve never been scary.
âHeâs not my dog.â He replied, though he could see how they could think that way.
Craig and Baz looked at one another, clearly disagreeing but not wanting to push it.
âRight.â
Your friends think the same thing about Pope. Each time theyâve been in the same room, he was awkward, dry, and glaring.
-
Sometimes, the way you tell him you love him is a bit too sincere sounding, like you might die if you donât tell him, as if he was your air.
You were laying on top of him, your cheek pressed against his stomach, one hand gently tapping his chest, fingers poking his freckled skin rhythmically as if you were playing the piano, a music playing in your head.
Pope observed you, his mind full of thoughts, wondering how you never were scared of him, how you never told him he was weird or creepy.
Catherine was scared of him, always acting uneasy around him, as if she feared he might do something. In the end she was right, he thought, he did end up killing her.
Amy didnât initially fear him, because he lied about who he really was and it was only fair of her to reject him when he finally told her what he did.
Even his family, laughing at his interest in the nearby church, calling him Pope because of it, saying heâs weird and a creep or that thereâs something wrong with him. Maybe there was.
But he will never forget Baz telling him no one would want a kid with him. Or everything that happened with Billy, even though everyone acted like it was no big deal.
And Smurf, she acted like she was the only one able to truly love him, but he couldnât tell if she loved or feared him more. Maybe it depended on the day.
Yet, it wasnât like that with you. You never once acted like you didnât belong next to him, whether you were only friends or now dating. And you are a vocal man, you voice your annoyance, calling out your co-workers when they are being creepy, putting people back in their place when they step out of line, you even fought his brothers and Smurf when you had to. You werenât forced to hang with him, you simply chose to.
You were the only one that visited him in jail, when he wasnât in solitary and was allowed to see people. And when he got out, you were, again, the only one genuinely happy to see him.
So, no, he did not understand you. You had a stable job, seemingly great friends, a normal family, and yet you still decided to associate yourself with his world, befriending his brothers, befriending and dating him.
Of all the people in your life you chose him. He did not get it.
He looked at you, refusing to believe you could actually love him. Even when you looked so comfortable laying on him, fingers now tracing his skin, eyes focused as if you were actually holding a pen and doing a âconnect the dotsâ game. You looked like you belonged against him. Like it was only natural.
Then you looked at him, observing him, as if you were trying to read his mind.
âI love you.â You said softly, your eyes boring into his intensely. He could not take it. It wasnât true.
âDonât say that.â He said quietly.
âWhat ? I love you ?â
âYeah.â
âWhy ?â
He didnât reply, looking at you, debating in his head before looking at the ceiling, hoping you would forget his words.
âWhy ?â You repeated, your hand going to his face, caressing his cheek and tucking his hair behind his ear, playing with his curls. âYou donât believe me ?â
âYou donât- I canât be loved.â He finally replied, still refusing to look at you.
You stayed silent for a moment, thinking of your next words.
âI love you. Iâm not confused about what I feel, Andrew.â
You stared at him as he stayed silent, refusing to believe you, you sat up next to him and gently cupped his face, forcing him to look at you. You looked like you wanted to talk, brain fuzzing with affectionate thoughts but couldnât because no human words would be enough to describe how you felt for him, and that made him sick to his stomach.
Finally, you found your words, choosing facts.
âYou always look for vegan options when we eat out. And I noticed youâre now buying cruelty free products even though you donât have to. The- the way your fingers fidget when youâre thinking is very cute. Youâre so loyal. Youâre not into small talk. Love that. You do not push me to socialize more or to talk nicer about my fuckass colleagues. I also see you feed strays regularly. And you give them food thatâs actually recommended for them. You never pet them, because of possible diseases. Unless you have gloves on. Also, you actually enjoy watching documentaries with me even if I prefer historical ones.â
His heart was beating heavily as you continued to cite everything you had noticed and loved about him. Did you really love him ? For real ? No, it couldnât be. Surely you were wrong.
He was starting to freak out, heart speeding, and as soon as you noticed his wide eyes you stopped. He was panicking, mind racing, quickly pulling away from you, grabbing his shirt to put it on as he stormed out of the bedroom. You followed him, worried, trying to stop him, without much success. He put his shoes on and walked out.
Shit.
Shit, shit, shit.
His heart was pounding when he suddenly turned to face you, he needed you gone, he needed to breathe, telling you to go back inside and to leave him the fuck alone. He could not be loved. You were wrong. You could not love him. You froze, you had fucked up, you had been too intense.
Quickly he walked to his car and drove away, mind loud and blurry.
-
Days passed, and Pope was still agitated. J was the first to notice, finding it odd how you still hadnât paid them a visit to check on them or your boyfriend. And even though Pope wasnât the most stable person, it seemed worse the past few days.
âWhereâs [Name] ?â J asked, annoyed by his uncle mood swings.
âWhy ?.â Pope replied after looking at him, already not liking this discussion.
âIs he gonna come later ?â
âWhy ?â He repeated.
âIâm gonna order food tonight and I need to know if I have to order something for him.â
Liar.
âNo.â He simply said, looking at him in a âleave me aloneâ way.
âDid something happen ? You guys okay ?â
But Pope didnât reply, and walked away instead. J observed him and took out his phone, texting Deran about it, wondering if he had news about you. After receiving a negative response, he asked him to talk to his brother.
-
As Pope was busying himself by cleaning the pool a few hours later, Deran came by, leaving his bar into Tommyâs hands. He stared at his older brother in silence, calculating.
âJ told me something happened with [Name]. Whatâs up ?â
Pope ignored him.
âYou prefer to talk about it with Craig ? You sure ?â
Finally, Pope looked at him, annoyed.
âNo.â
âThen whatâs going on ?â Deran asked, Pope stared at him, the skimmer net still in his hands, visibly struggling with the idea of actually talking about what happened.
âHas Adrian⊠ever told you he loved you ?â
âYeah.â Deran replied, hands in his pockets.
âDid you believe him ?â
âWe lived together. We were well aware of each otherâs feelings.â
Pope stayed silent, focusing back on his activity. Deran continued to look at him, thinking.
âDo you not believe him ?â
ââŠI donât know.â
âBecause of something he did ? Or something else ?â
ââŠSomething else.â He replied quietly.
Deran observed him for a moment, slowly understanding what was the problem.
âYou can be loved, you know. In so many ways.â
Pope stopped to look at him.
âYeah ?â
âYeah, man.â
âWhat if heâs wrong ? What if itâs not actually love ?â
âI donât know, man, seems pretty much like it to me.â
They stayed silent for a few seconds.
âDo you love him ?â Deran asked.
âYeah.â
âDo you think youâre wrong about it ? Maybe youâre confused ?â
âIâm not.â
âSo you know how you feel, but he doesnât ?â
Pope returned his attention to the floating leaves.
âItâs not the same.â
âWhy ?â
Pope looked at him seriously, head tilted.
âYou know why.â He said, making Deran chuckle.
âOkay youâre weird and have serious issues, and ? [Name] doesnât care.â
âWhy do you care anyway ?â
âAbout you and [Name] ?â
âYeah.â
Deran sighed.
âI donât know. Youâre my brother, I care about you. And you seem happy around him.â
Pope said nothing, thinking.
âAre you ?â Deran continued. âHappy ? With him ?â
After a beat, Pope replied.
âYeah.â
âThen you have your answer, donât fuck it up, dude. Talk to him.â
Pope looked at the leaves, still thinking.
âAnd do it quickly. Everyoneâs on edge because of your sour mood.â Deran added, walking away.
âYâall are always on edge.â Pope replied simply. âYou donât need me for that.â
âTalk to him !â Deran yelled before disappearing.
After a bit, thinking about Deranâs words, Pope took out his phone and texted you, asking if he could come by. He stared at the screen until he saw the three dots of you typing your reply, anxiously hoping you would not reject him.
As soon as you replied positively he let go of the skimming net and went to his car to drive to your house.
With a heavy heart, Pope knocked at your door, suddenly feeling very awkward. He had thought the whole drive about what to say, but everything had left his brain. What were the right words he thought of earlier ? What should he say first ? It reminded him of your first date together. Youâre the first man heâs ever dated, and he wasnât sure how a date between two men should go. But you managed to make him ease up, taking things at his pace. Man or woman, it was all the same. Patience and understanding.
You opened the door quickly, you seemed anxious, unsure of what to say as well. Still, you invited him in.
âIâm sorry. For⊠being too intense at times.â You started, closing behind him, eyes darting everywhere.
âNo. Itâs not that.â He replied. âI- I like it.â
You stared at him, his hands flexing as he thought about what to say.
âDo you really believe you love me ?â He finally asked.
âItâs not that I believe. I know I do. Itâs like a fact.â
âDespite everything ?â
âEverything ?â
âI hurt people. Iâve killed. I couldnât take care of Lena. Iâm not⊠well in the head.â
âYouâre trying to protect your family. You did all you could for Lena. And you know sheâs better there than with her actual family. Sheâs safer.â
Pope seemed to think for a moment. You approached him, cupping his face gently. He leaned into your touch.
âAndrew. I know who you are. I know your intentions. I trust you.â
âI could kill you.â He countered.
âI believe you wonât.â You replied back, your thumbs caressing his skin.
âHow are you so sure ?â
âI told you, I trust you.â
âWhat if youâre wrong ?â
âIâm not.â You said. He wanted to argue but you cut him off. âIâm not.â You repeated. âAndrew. I trust you.â
He stared at you, your words slowly sinking in. As always, there was no fear in your eyes, no uneasiness, all he could find in them was affection and worry. But the worry was not about your well being but about his.
âI love you, Andrew.â You said, pulling him closer to kiss his forehead. âFrom all my being.â
He leaned in, arms wrapping around you, his cheek resting on your shoulder, breathing you in, curling up against you.
Though he was still troubled about how you could really love him, he had decided to believe in your words.
Synopsis : The summer is killing you and you think a nap will help better than a fucking pool. The sun is clearly melting your neurons.
Reader : gender neutral (you/yours)
A/N : reader getting shirtless and wears boxers but can be read as any gender.
It was a hot afternoon, like every day so far. The days were horrible, the sun was hitting hard, and so were the nights, no fresh air to breathe. No peace. The heatwave was killing you.
After work, you wanted to take a nap, your coworkers having worn you out faster than usual because of the weather. But instead of taking it at your place, you went to the Codyâs to spend some time with your boyfriend as well.
You only had to mention wanting to rest for him to follow you to his bed, ready to relax with you.
But because of the heat, you couldnât fall asleep. It was way too hot. So you removed your clothes, only your boxers remained as you took your place back next to Pope who was already in his underwear. You tried to sleep again, and only managed to be a bit comatose, never fully stepping into the sleeping state.
At some point you opened your eyes, frustrated, and saw that Pope wasnât even trying to sleep. Eyes wide open as he stared at the ceiling, waiting, only turning to you when he felt you shift.
You scooted closer, kissing his shoulder, and he spoke.
âIâm sorry we donât have a fan.â
âMh, âs fine.â
âIâll get one tomorrow.â
You smiled, your cheek against his shoulder as your hand went to his chest, gently caressing his skin.
You loved cuddling against him, being near, as if you wanted to fusion with him, but right now you were hating it. Your body was hot, his body was hot, and you could feel the dried sweat on his skin, everything felt too warm and not refreshing at all. Even the covers you were laying on felt damp with sweat, and warm.
You tried to ignore it, instead of napping you could just relax with him and snuggle. But by the Gods your patience was wearing thin with how hot your bodies were running. So at some point you suddenly jerked away in frustration.
You couldnât even enjoy caressing your boyfriend lovingly without wanting to blow up the sun.
Pope stared at you, confused as you dramatically groaned, and put some distance between you two.
âWhat ?â
âIâm gonna kill myself. Itâs too fucking hot and I canât be all over you ! I need a gun.â
He huffed, amused. He thought for a moment before smiling lightly.
âI know what we can do.â He said as he got up. "You shouldâve thought about that first too."
âWhat ?â
He didnât reply, instead he fully smiled and grabbed you, pulling you toward him before throwing you over his shoulder to carry you like a potato bag. He walked out of the room, down the corridor and outside, toward the deepest side of the pool. You didnât even have time to form a thought about what was happening, eyes focused on his ass, before being suddenly thrown in the water.
You gasped from the sudden change of temperature as you resurfaced, wiping the water from your face, only to see Pope jumping in next to you. You looked at him like a wet cat, unsure of how to react.
He was smiling again, visibly pleased with himself.
âSo ?â
It wasnât so bad actually.
You hummed before grinning, realizing you felt much better, feeling his hands on your waist, pulling you closer. You wrapped your arms around his shoulders and pecked his lips. His body still felt warm to the touch, but with the fresh water surrounding you, it didnât feel horrible at all. You could even appreciate it.
As you closed your eyes, enjoying the mix of the warm sun on your skin with the cold water to cool you down, Pope began kissing you, planting soft kisses after soft kisses on your face, making you smile. Heâs not usually the affectionate type around his family, so you guessed it was because everyone was inside.
You let him have his way, enjoying the love before resting your head on his shoulder as he kissed your jaw and neck, his lips peppering your skin as you breathed him in.
Everything was calm and slow until he noticed how much he could hear you audibly inhale through your nose.
âAre you okay ?â He asked, looking at you.
Aw, cute, he sounded worried.
âYeah. Just breathinâ ya.â You replied with a smile.
What ?
âBreathing me ?â
Okay, now he was confused. You had told him you couldnât smell anything after a bad fall during your childhood. You didnât even know freshly cut grass had a smell. So unless your nose had suddenly healed, why the fuck where you smelling him like a hunting dog ?
âYeah.â You simply said as you continued to breathe him in, nose moving against his skin, up his throat and against his face, smelling his cheek, planting a long kiss before sniffing again, as if you were searching for something.
You were inhaling hard, sniffing him intensively, and he was still confused. You grabbed his face, tilting his head to plant your nose in his wet hair.
âNeed to have you in my veins.â You added, inhaling hard.
It was his turn to grab your face to pull you away, looking at you with a frown.
âI thought you couldnât smell anything ?â
âI canât. Iâm not. Iâm breathing you. Iâm inhaling in your air so you get in my lungs, then my blood, veins, everywhere.â You said with a serious look on your face.
He still didnât seem to understand why you would do that.
âBecause I love you, Andrew.â You added with a smile, gently caressing his cheek.
Pope stared at you, weirdly touched by your words, his heart fluttering strangely. Itâs not the first time you said those words, and itâs not the first time youâve been weird about your love for him. Still, he had trouble believing he really had an effect on you, always surprised by your intensity.
You forced your head out of his hands and resumed your activity, aggressively sniffing from his wrist to his shoulder, and the crook of his neck, kissing his skin occasionally. You didnât even hear his brothers approach.
âJesus, man.â Deran said amused, shaking his head, and sat in one of the poolâs chairs nearby. Craig chuckled as he sat next to him, handing him his beer before turning to Baz to give him his.
âWeirdos.â Craig affirmed.
âMatch made in heaven, I suppose.â Baz added, taking the beer to sit as well.
You thought Pope would tense up because of them being there, but instead he stayed relaxed, visibly no longer caring about his family -at least his brothers- seeing him receiving affection. So you just gave them your middle finger as you kept sniffing him everywhere, no inch of skin safe from your nose.
Popeâs hands held you against him, making sure you didn't pull away when you became lightheaded from the intense inhaling, softly kissing your forehead as you blinked rapidly to try to regain your stability.
He held you close until his brothers decided to go in the pool too to try and drown one another, jumping right next to you just to annoy the both of you. Not caring about the heat anymore, you gladly joined the fight, siding with Pope to drown them as much as you could. Who cares if you get an elbow in the nose or a knee in the stomach in the process ? You. Will. Win.

Ushijima is always quiet when getting his makeup done. It caused Y/N to originally think he didnât like him since Ushijima made small talk with the other makeup artists. It was Tendou who told him that the silence meant Ushijima felt comfortable. He didnât feel like he was forced to be a leader who must remain talkative, because Y/N doesnât force anyone to talk. He does his job, and he talks if he knows that person enjoys doing that.
âItâs why Wakatoshi-san refuses to have a different makeup artist,â Tendou once said as Y/N worked on his makeup for a photoshoot. âHeâll never tell you that, but itâs what heâs told me.â

MASTERLIST
The soft grumbles from your impeccably credentialed, supremely skilled husband gets your attention before you even see him walk into the kitchen. Footsteps heavy and laden with the weight of the day, shuffling through the hallway.Â
Don't let him hear you say all that, that he's impeccable and supremeâhe'd rather chew on rocks than hear those words out of your pretty mouth, especially when he was in such a mood.Â
You look over your shoulder, food searing in the pan as he unceremoniously threw himself on a wooden chair, finding your gaze soon after.Â
"Hi, baby," he says, a tired smile sent your way.Â
You return it. "Hi, handsome. Long day?"
It was one of the few weeks that Jack adapted to day shift, allowing him to be home at a decent time and actually present when you were settling down for the evening. You enjoyed having him around, but you knew it pained him. He lived for night shift. They were his people, his confidants when you weren't in the picture.Â
Only a few more days, then he had a week offâafter, he'd return to his regularly scheduled life, and you'd return to the steady groove the two of you created.Â
"You don't know the half of it," he says, snorting softly. It had been a hell of a time. Little did he want you to feel the brunt of his frustration, so he found some gumption deep within him and held onto it like a buoy in a large expanse of ocean. He ran a hand through his short hair, salt and pepper strands slipping through the cracks between his fingers. "You?"
You shrug. Eventful was a fair assumption.
"One of my kids decided it would be a good idea to try and to walk on a banana peel and actually fell. Nurse Harris had a field day with it."
He snorts softly. "Not bad enough to go to the emergency room, huh?"
"Busted his chin," you say. "I saw him with a bandage, but... It was in the cafeteria, so I only saw it in passing. I don't know much more than that."Â
You flip over the food, the aromatic scent of your favorite dish wafting in the air.Â
"Testing has been terrible, too," you continue, shoulders tense. "The program completely froze up halfway through the morning so a few of my classes went without their state testing. They'll have to come in another day for it."
"You're kidding," Jack says, leaning his chin against his hand as he watches you, elbow in the table. He likes the woodâit's calming, somewhat, smooth yet rough enough that he stays alert, watching and waiting.
You snort. "God, I wish."
"Just a few more days, though, right?"
"Three more."
"Three more, then we've got a few days to ourselves," Jack says, voice carrying over the sizzle. "You've no idea how ready I am to have you all to myself."
You smile at him over your shoulder. "Oh, yeah?"
"Yeah, baby," he says, pushing himself to stand up. He walks over, pressing a tender kiss to your forehead. "I'm gonna go shower. Should be done when you are," he reasons, nodding to the food.Â
You scrunch your nose at him. He kisses the tip of it, grinning.Â
"I won't be long. Then you can tell me more about your day."
You roll your eyes. "It's not that interesting. Bunch kids acting like hooligans. I'm telling you what. Sometimes I don't know how I ended up here. I swear to you, if I was smart enough, I'd be in medicine."
It's Jack's turn to snort and roll his eyes. His strong, calloused hands settle on your waist, thumbs gently brushing against your body.Â
"You are smart enough. It's why you decided to be a teacher instead of dealing with life or death every day."
"Yeah, yeah," you deflated, waving him off. "Go shower, stinky. You want your usual?"
He hums and kisses your cheek one last time before he nods, smiling all the while.Â
"My usual. Sounds good."
Jack walks to the entryway, pausing just before he looks back at you. "And baby?"
You do not look at him, but the way you tilt your head just so your ear is turned to him a bit more tells him all he needs to know.Â
"Don't beat yourself up too much. Someone's got to teach these kids how to avoid slipping on banana peels."
"Go shower," you snap, but there's no real bite to your words.Â
Jack laughs as he leaves, letting you stay in the kitchen to finish everything up.Â
He loves your cooking. He loves teasing you. He especially loves knowing that the two of you were so much alikeâboth finding ways to give back to your communities, both in public service for the hell of it, because it was what you were made to do.Â
i keep seeing really funny gifs of abbott and i canât help but be a little charmed. minus points for being in the military. extra minus points for being a surgeon. (i think theyâre surgeons?)
He is charming. Not a surgeon but an attending physician (idk the difference) (and swat physician too).
It does fits his character, heâs a war veteran so đđ» but itâs not surprising heâs still somewhat in that line of work. But you could argue that after losing a leg he could hate swat/army/marine/whatever stuff related.
His character in Animal Kingdom doesnât have those negative points though. He only dressed as a military man to steal money on their base. Heâs not funny intentionally though and he needs a therapist.
