Like, yes, people calling for a return to a golden age that never actually existed is a problem, but pushing back against that by insisting that everything has always been exactly as bad as it is right now in every respect for everyone everywhere and that any suggestion to the contrary is reactionary doesn't make you a hard-nosed realist, it just makes you a dipshit.
