After I go see a movie, if its any good at all, I'll often go searching for other peoples' analysis to see if they help line up my own thoughts. But I dont see anyone looking at The End of Oak Street any more closely than "dinosaurs in suburbia" so I guess I have to write my own post.
*Spoilers*
It seemed to me to have pretty clear messaging about the dangers of nostalgia/wanting to live in the past vs the actual reality of being in the past (dangerous, deadly, people from suburbia completely unequipped to handle that life, its BAD there actually) and that wanting to ignore problems (like steadily dissolving relationships, unemployment, climate change) doesnt stop those problems and in fact makes them worse, will actually get you killed possibly.
And I think the film did this very clever thing of taking this "perfect" white suburban family and showing all the carnage and destruction of their neighbors all around them but they are largely uninvolved and ignoring the scenes of violence all around them in favor of self preservation. And they are constantly showing this family just baaaarely evading the monsters - they're around the corner, they're one backyard over, you get a glimpse of them just beyond the next house, and the family skirts away while someone else's dies.
I might want another rewatch to fully solidify my thoughts on this aspect but I definitely think this movie has a lot more to say past "new dinosaur movie."
cannot even begin to explain how much this dog I groomed today looked like a fruit bat
I really dont think I've properly conveyed just HOW fucking fruit bat this dog was, a visual is required:

there is something wrong with people who categorize "fish" separately from "meat" like can you get real please?

Bonkers how listening to the latest Realis episode makes you need to go back and relisten to the whole season again IMMEDIATELY
I feel like its healthy to have a couple people on your follow list that just annoy the ever loving piss out of you for petty reasons. Like you shouldn't DO anything about the fact that they annoy you. It's an innoculation. It's to practice just shutting up and minding your own business and scrolling past people who aren't harming you and aren't doing anything wrong like ah yes that's my resident irritant. they help me build tolerance
last week my doppelganger trapped me in the basement I keep it imprisoned in and took my place in my life. fortunately after the first day of this it came down and asked to have the basement back. Probably a good sign 👍

you should have seen me a couple of years ago!
The denture scene in Evil Dead Burn is the closest a movie has ever come to making me throw up 🤢
Its been 5 years today since Rorschach died. It seems impossible. The wound never closed.
