“i-... i just think that with isabella and his little boy, it’s probably best to keep it a secret, you know? like to the grave.” she stated, eyes looking to her feet to avoid eye contact with her friend. she knew syd was just joking, but the matter still played guilty on her mind — especially after seeing mason. “sofi has you and her cousins, and that’s all she needs.” reaching for her hand to give it a small squeeze, she offered a faint simper. “you’re our family.” 

aurora glanced away from her reading, small smile developing on her face when seeing the other. “right?” almost exclaiming at the point, though she soon found herself chuckling at the ridiculousness of it all. “how long have you been here? any tips for a first-time mom? hopefully i can get in on the daycares for my next one.” 

aurora felt herself jump slightly upon hearing the voice. she knew it all too well — the tone alone causing knots to tie in her stomach. she’d already come to accept that she might not see mason again, but now? she was unsure on what even to say ( the long gap between responses was enough to show that ) as she cursed herself for being foolish enough to speak aloud. “i –” already she stumbled, forcing herself to look up to the other. “mason, hi. um –... yeah i had a little girl, you know. getting in with the trend... as always.” 

“where is the lie in that?” she proposed a rhetorical question, soft chuckle to follow. “you could? that would be amazing! i’d much rather sofi be somewhere that has been ben approved.”

“do you know how wild preschools are around here? i literally have shorter business contracts compared to some of these waiting lists.” she pouted, reading over the pamphlet that rested in her lap — words being said aloud due to shock more than anything else. “do you have to sign them up when they’re in the womb or something?”

a destination wedding? the dream. especially if it was in puerto rico, they have the most beautiful beaches. i bet the time away was wonderful, but i bet it was even better getting back and being able to squish your little ones.

i often find that turtles know the real way to live. eight hours of sleep? totally wrong. follow the ways of the galapagos turtles.
